I mean, this sucks for Xbox fans and I feel bad for them, but to most people it's clear that Xbox is in a really bad position, mostly because of Phil Spencer's management. There are two paths here for MS in terms of why they've suddenly pushed for Phil & Sarah to be out

1: They're actually planning to step back in as a real console platform holder and all the PC talk with Magnus (not feature-wise (well, not all the features) but business model-wise) has been a red herring, or:

2: They want to speedrun the end of Xbox as a brand, including the hardware. Which might even mean cancelling Magnus.​

We'll see what happens.

If you're not China, gaming profits are so flat that you can usually make more money just parking your cash in a index fund. MS isnt patient with returns like that so I dont think Xbox is long for the world.

I really thought that Phil Spencer is going to retire as soon as next year, and to be replaced by Sarah Bond. Natural transitions, considering that 2026 is all about 25th anniversary celebration.

Now, Phil is leaving on Monday and Sarah is out (no more President of XBOX position), Matt Booty get promotion, a new title with the same role lol. The new CEO is someone else from outside gaming.
