Yep. I almost guarantee her mission goal as EVP is to determine how to fit Microsoft Gaming into Microsoft's AI plans.

As for Sarah Bond, I agree overall but also I think she's gone because the future of hardware has been decided. All of the impending hardware claims came from Bond and/or Spencer. Now both are gone and Bond's position as CEO of Xbox, which included hardware engineering, has been effectively eliminated. Now there's only Sharma as CEO of Microsoft Gaming and Booty as Chief Content Officer overseeing software development. With both Spencer and Bond gone, it will be much easier for Satya and Ashe to walk back all of the future hardware claims made by the old staff.

Magnus is almost certainly a dead project now.
Xbox as a brand is all but officially dead -- it's not even called Xbox inside Microsoft anymore.

Know What? AI generated char art is certainly much better than the protags by MS and Sony in recent years by a large margin. Will absolutely have better looking chars, much better than recent examples like avowed, yotei, outer worlds 2, concord, marathon, starfield. So for character designs I fully support using AI by western devs.

As for the asian ones, I don't have absolute proof but pretty sure many of them use AI to generate the character concept art with artists doing some final touches to make the chars from 7 to 8-9/10. AI helped a lot in character art development.

No she wasn't she was "head of product" for MS's Azure AI tooling. She was more involved with how corporations use AI than "AI slop" really as that doesn't include Copilot.

I find it interesting she used the word "slop". Maybe she's aware, that people have been using that moniker almost synonymously with Microsoft lately. Or she could be trying to deflect.

One way or another, Microsoft has a shit ton of money invested in AI, and I have a hard time believing they won't use it, to try and save money (while simultaneously laying off devs).

I really have no idea how you guys have convinced yourself that either using the term AI slop or disliking thoughtless and lazy usage of low quality AI outputs (stuff without taste, used carelessly) is not a completely ubiquitous and common thing amongst most people including the people inside tech companies.

I even can believe Xbox CEOs have this nice sentiment. But does Microsoft agree with this? They are full on AI EVERYWHERE. AS if Xbox was going to escape that lmao.

Then you haven't been paying attention. Nadella made a big deal about saying "slop" and now here she is using it. To me, that's trying to hard to fit in. Either way, what's your problem? It's like you are taking this personally.

90% of gaf has 100x more experience and would likely fuck up less in this position yet she got it coz of why? Kitty between her legs or her race? Tell me any reason u would put person with 0 gaming experience as a xbox ceo of gaming :D

At least with matrick or phil, even tho they were terrible xbox bosses u could tell in theory they had potential to be good, here same like with DEI sarah u know from the very start- 0 hope, 0 potential, just painful diseaster incoming w/o any way to prevent it.
 
Some of the most talented people I work with in tech are "brown women." Some of you need to really get over this DEI nonsense. Microsoft has become less and less white male lead over the last 20 years and multiplied their success over and over.

Considering how much everyone here hates Spencer, Ryan and Hulst.. you'd think you'd grow a clue.
