Terrible idea. We have had that and what emerged was a bunch of sell out YouTubers like ColtEastwood and shit like that. All it will create is another set of big ego fanatics looking for clout.

The products should do the talking. You don't see Sony and Nintendo acting like this.

There is way too much money invested and too much revenue being brought in to shut it all down. I think this signals a heck of a lot of changes on the way though. The big question on everyone's mind is what does this mean for hardware.

All bet's are off as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah, the Xbox hardware situation was already pretty tenuous before the RAM shortage. With the RAM shortage it could easily be seen as far more trouble than it's worth.

If they were both referring to that type of community, then absolutely you're right. Either way the products and the games should do the talking.

One good thing about Microsoft releasing in 2027 is they will most likely have the advantage of releasing before PlayStation which should at least help a little bit just by being the only next gen machine available. That is all dependent on PS6 being delayed of course.
Accurate. If the PS6 is delayed, the next Xbox will have a nice empty runway for itself.

But it's still a plane that's headed for a crash. If it's $1,000+ then it's dead on arrival. If people were unwilling to buy Xbox's at $300 with exclusives, they're not buying Xbox's at triple the price with no exclusives.

Yeah pricing is obviously the biggest factor. I don't think Microsoft expects it to nor will it sell even Series numbers but a hybrid device that competes with pre-built PC pricing could still work out well.

I'm in Day 1 assuming the price is good.

It's honestly crazy how some of the Xbox centric outlets are taking this news "wow, did you see that press release!!! If she can do all the things she says…who knows, we might be back!!" lol no shit. Like I would hope the first statements she makes when getting the job wouldn't sound like doom and gloom. It seems like some of these guys are incapable of talking about anything Xbox does with any framing of negativity, and they take any statements made at complete face value.

Yeah, they seem incredibly gullible to me. From my point of view, Sharma is just mouthing platitudes designed to reassure people that, despite her inexperience with gaming, she cares deeply about Xbox and its fans. She knows that is part of the expected role play for CEO.

But to actually believe what she says you have to be tremendously gullible, especially after everything that has happened already.

We know Phil never wanted to switch to the multiplat strategy. He wanted to win the console war and spend Sony out of business. The pivot in strategy was obviously Satya's call. So the idea that this new incoming CEO will pivot XBox back to what Phil had wanted in the first place seems farsical at best.

I'm not sure if anyone but Satya and the new CEO know the plans going forward. It's been literally hours.
It's not like these decisions were just made this afternoon. If they're ready to announce this and the Booty promotion then more people than those two know the plan.

I think it's worse than being gullible with some of them, I think they are fakes, telling the fanboys what they think they want to hear regardless of any honesty or integrity.

And Major Nelson is tweeting the CEO saying work with the community, it's not worked jn the past.

Yeah, there could be an element of that, too. Self-serving. Trying to gin up enthusiasm in their fanbase, in order to keep their own platforms alive.

If not yet I bet info will be coming soon from the usual suspects

Almost sounds like they want to give us a roadmap of sorts

Your debut as CEO, declaring that your top priority is the "return of Xbox," and your recommitment to Xbox console fans... certainly sounds like new hardware, and whatever it is, they're calling it a console.

The GDC in March is a clear place where news could emerge. The fact that they're doing a live stream for the first time, and that the presenter is NextGen VP Jason Ronald, could be a sign of new information.

We'll see.

Watched the video from IGn and it seems has ZERO gaming background. She mentioned they will find new revunue streams and not partake in AI slop, and are recommitting to XBOX brand starting with console.
Sound like they are shifting directions once AGAIN. They refuse to sit and see anything through. Im glad they can adapt and move on and try things, but this sounds like a train wreck that will end the gaming division. Sarah retiring also says somethings up. They may be shifting away from what her vision was / is for XBOX and she wanted to no part of it as it would ruin her career.
Retiring? More like her and phil got axed.

Absolutely. A hybrid could be exactly what grows the pre-built PC market. With soaring costs for RAM and SSD's, ironically enough, Microsoft (a major contributor to the soaring costs) is one of the few companies that can comfortably subsidize a device if they see a profitable future for the device.

I hope they don't shove Copilot/AI into every aspect of the machine, but putting an AI person in charge of the business is a bad sign of things to come. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think Microsoft are going to be conservative with AI on Xbox.

Yeah why is this Sharma person saying she intends for the return of Xbox Xbox ? What does that even mean besides pulling back from going 3rd party?
Presumably, She'll have several interviews scheduled in the coming days and should explain what She means by "the return of Xbox"; "recommitting to Xbox console users and fans who are the reason Xbox exists"; "returning to the Xbox renegade attitude"...

Right now, these are just words from someone trying to connect positively with the public on his first day, but they're strong enough not to be meaningless.

As I said, it's only a matter of time before he clarifies, because it's sure to be the first question he'll get in interviews.

We have a problem…If until now we had shills sucking Phill's weiner, now what they'll suck? Asking the real questions here, guys!

I would love for Microsoft to decide to do one final push and subsidize the new machine but idk how likely that is. I want Xbox to fight but I'm also probably one of the few that wishes Xbox had never even started PC ports back in 2016. I personally miss when each platform had exclusives and reasons to own everything.

Yeah why is this Sharma person saying she intends for the return of Xbox Xbox ? What does that even mean besides pulling back from going 3rd party?
It could be a lot of things. Did they specifically say console or just Xbox as a whole? Xbox as a whole could just mean focusing on releasing games.

I am happy PHIL is out. He was a gamer, but could not fix the brand in 2 decades.
Damn I didn't realize 2014 was 20 years ago. Time flies.

It doesn't mean shit.

I don't know why people take her words to mean anything. She's just saying what she is supposed to say. New CEOs (especially ones with no experience in the area) have to rally the troops, reassure everyone, and make it seem like they're all-in on the core values of ______. It's just template CEO blather. We've heard plenty of it already, and you'll hear more of it in the future.
