Phil Spencer is Retiring and Sara Bond is Out bot there's something really worst than that

Probably brought in this new person to wind it all down and close up Xbox.
Exactly this.
This is what happens when they bring in some no name executive / management when a company is in its final days. There's absolutely going to be another massive purge after this. I think everything is on the table but CoD / Activision and maybe Bethesda are safe.

Sorry guys, nevermind. She doesn't really want to know.

She's off to a great start though.

Probably forgot to tell copilot to not reply to her tweets.

She doesn't even know how to operate her Twitter account to open DMs and people are supposed to believe that she can steer Microslop in the right direction?

That won't do much with a $1200+ console
Sadly true. Next xbox will be to expensive and its, actually, might be a pc hybrid not a console for the masses. I do miss the ps3 versus xbox 360. The great battle push each other to give us great exclusives on both camps like Uncharted, last of us, gears, forza, halo, mgs4, etc.

Hahahaha this is so fucking cringe.

"Should bring the blade dashboard?" Doesn't make sense. Does she mean "Should we bring back the blade dashboard?". I was hoping this new person would lay off the performative social media and PR schtick that Phil and Bond used to do.

Idk I honestly dont think you necessarily need a lot of experience to manage something. You have a lot of people that you can delegate to and trust. It becomes about judgement and decision-making. I say that as someone who has trained plenty of people for management positions. Of course nothing even remotely close to being in the same universe compared to the head of gaming at MS. If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.

That's exactly what this is. But Xbox as we know of today. They still have a lot invested into third party and the like, so there is going to be major changes.

They didn't do the whole "passing of the torch" buildup like they normally do with the "cult of personality" marketing in the social media sphere for with the brand.

It was abrupt, weekend news cycle, and not even a "toodles" to Sarah Bond. Bro acted like he didn't even know her.

This is more of a reckoning.

She can't pick a gaming t-shirt out by herself and that's unacceptable.

This does not sound like an improvement.

"The new CEO of Microsoft Gaming will be Asha Sharma, currently the President of Microsoft's CoreAI product. Finally, Xbox Game Studios head Matt Booty is being promoted to Chief Content Officer and will work closely with Sharma."

Shit got bad but MS is hell bent on making them even worse.
Worse, knowing Microsoft turf wars she lost, because there is no way in hell you go from CoreAI to Xbox division willingly if you want to continue going up. She fails - she's out. She succeeds - nothing happens, this will continue to be a small portion of Microsoft's revenue.

You'll always get more respect for bosses who are both good with people and also know the product or system etc... So you might want to train people who at least have some direct experience with the role.

The best boss I ever was the one who wasnt just a good person (almost all my bosses are good people), but he also did my job in the past so he knew exactly what's involved to do it.

He was also the only boss I ever had who offered to just do something himself when all of us were bogged down because he knows how to do it too.... (Edit. Not true. I forgot another guy was similar. So two bosses ever)

You'll never get a boss getting the most respect from people who is inexperienced with the product or department no matter how good and chill they are. Worst boss I ever had was way back around 15 or so years ago. He became our finance director. He came from another dept. One of those cherry picked tapped on the shoulder guys. He's our direct finance boss and he didnt even know basic PL stuff like cost of goods (COGS). We all looked at each other in the room and was like WTF?

Damn, a Satya AI plant is taking over "Xbox" whilst Phil and Sarah suddenly bounce on a random Friday.

If you actually think the new persons tweet is positive invoking, I suggest you check out all the corporate fluff that was said when Bond came in and AGAIN when she was promoted.

This person has obviously been put in place to see the slow death of this MS sector through - because Phil and Sarah definitely wouldn't have been able to.

It's like everyone saying he ruined gaming but here we are with a new person that is not even a gamer. Xbox is screwed.

Phil was a gamer and fought for us with exclusives and BC. That activision deal pulled pressure from MS and that force them to go multi platform.

"As monetization and AI evolve and influence this future, we will not chase short-term efficiency or flood our ecosystem with soulless AI slop. Games are and always will be art, crafted by humans, and created with the most innovative technology provided by us."

We like the word "slop" now?
Erm…even if that is true should a top exec be really using the word "slop"?

Spencer retiring just prior to Xbox 25th Anniversary, and Bond wiped out from existence? Nah bro, this was a house cleaning and reset.

We had a few higher ups "retire" like this recently at my job. I just hope this one is going to lead to a positive, repositioning of the Xbox console/brand and not winding it down.

Excellent point.

It's like they gave her a car with all flat tires for a race. She's not winning.

I think these new positions will be gone in 2 years. This division is dead. I think Nadella would rather be free of all this gaming shit.
I am puzzled why he let the Activision deal go ahead really. They have all these studios now, but still yet to make any decent games. And their hardware is dead.
I'm sure he's trying to find a way to get rid of it all, but it'll be clumsy and slow. How do you dump all these studios, and all your customers who have a catalogue of games. And I don't see anyone wanting to buy it, or even has the money.
What a mess...
