It was revealed in a recent leak that the next-gen AMD Zen 6 Ryzen CPUs would be delayed until 2027, and it has now emerged, that the upcoming Intel "Nova Lake-S" Core Ultra Series 4 CPUs may be joining AMD for an early 2027 launch, when previous reports placed the launch in late 2026.

If you don't have pc and absolutely need it, it sucks a bit. But like if you have 6 core amd equivalent, really who gives a shit if you have to keep using your pc year or two more.
 
I have a 9800X3D and a 7800X3D in my pc's, so i'm fine with this, but maybe i'll now upgrade the 7800X3D and get a 9850X3D since its gonna be a while until Zen 6 comes along.

If this is the only delay, it's just a few months though.

Get urself 9800x3d, bros, its by no means cheap(450$) but it will last u till end of next gen so easily 2036 if not even 2040 with all the delays, only time it works at/close to its 100% durning gaming here is when its comipilig shaders before new current gen game xD
U get access to cpu that will get u to stable 60 no matter what on all future ps6 games, and u get access to it years before console owners...

Example: DD2 known for being cpu-killer, consoles and midrange cpu's have hard time to even hold stable 60 in there - with 9800x3d(and highend or at least midrange gpu depending on the res and other graphical settings) its a smooth breeze:


Here some additional info on that particular game:


For comparision even ps5pr0 perf mode, which is huge improvement over other consoles(that barely go over 30 in perf modes), still can dip under 50 in rare super heavy on the cpu scenarios and regulary drops under 60 even durning standard city visits:
 
Hoping my MSI motherboard will let me upgrade my ryzen 9 7900X to something with a bit more oomph in the future.
I hear the CPU's ending with X3D are better for gaming.
But the one I have seems more than enough right now.
 
Desktop NVL and Zen6 never were confirmed for 2026 launch. If something didn't have a timeframe then it's not "delayed" if it's not hitting that timeframe.

yes that should work. you can buy 9800x3d and get crismon dessert foc.

provided you are comfortable flashing mother board bios and disassembly of your heat sink and delicate when opening up the cpu slot

It's a great CPU but brute forcing shitty code shouldn't be the reason to get one.

All the games i play run at 80+ fps on my i5-12500 and most games are GPU limited anyway.

I have an I7-11700k and i'm really happy with it still. So i think 2027 will be a good time to upgrade my PC.
 
To guys with cpu's 2x stronger from current gen consoles- u are fine ofc, dont worry at all, my advice was for ppl who cant keep stable 60 with their cpu's, i know i couldnt on my trusty 8700k from 2017, it could hold stable 60 in cp2077 non rt but with rt it dipped below 50 even at 720p, march 2025 i changed cpu and suddenly cp2077 kept solid 60 in cpu heavy scenarios(was on same gpu, back then 3080ti).
 
I keep teetering on the edge of picking up a 9950X3D. I probably won't care whether they release next gen CPU's for several years if I pick up one of those.

Yeah, i'm playing i 4K with 5090's in both rigs, so the cpu's is not doing much heavy lifting in gaming. The bump from the 7800X3D to the 9800X3D is almost unnoticable, actually.
A few extra fps here and there in some very cpu heavy games.
 
it`s not like there`s much on the horizon you`d really need next gen CPUs and GPUs for anyways if we`re honest. And if we get bigger leaps per gen again I´m ok with lowering the release cadence.

Me too. Get me surprised with bigger leaps rather than incremental steps.
 
I thought early 2027 for next-gen CPUs was expected. Current CPUs are still perfectly fine for now imho.

Yeah, plus if we are talking gaming then most titles are GPU limited. Even if next CPU release from Intel or AMD is 30% faster that won't do jack for make games.

And we know Nvidia (and AMD) are delaying GPU releases.

GPU releases are RAM influenced, but not as much for CPUs.

But then again, I think all those hot takes on RAMpocalyse until 2030 is full of shit FUD from CEOs who would benefit from such propaganda

To be fair, most CPUs are overkill for basic use. You do not need even half the compute of a Zen 5 to accomplish 99% of every day internet use.

Even for gaming you can get by with a 7800X3D just fine for a good while.

It's a CPU. What's the stress? Just use what you already have. I have a 7800X3D and a 9950X3D, would have to use a Digital Foundry graph tool or stare at benchmarks numbers to spot a difference.
