Nosttodrunkus prediction time: nVidia will own Intel before 2028

As Jensen keep masturing his Trump pleasuring skills, Trump will soon end up handing over the 10% U.S. government owned shares of Intel for all the on the low low looooooow bribes, then will strong-arm rest of the majority stocks owned by various venture capital/investment firms, allowing nVidia to be majority stock holder of Intel.

As we know, nVidia owns about 4% of Intel, and by Titan Lake (2029), nVidia will be providing GPU blocks for Intel's top end APUs. Already nVidia has ARM powered AI mini supercomputer box, DGX Soarks, out in the market (20 core ARM CPU, RTX 5070 based GPU block, 128GB LPDDR5X) for $4K+. That box would be MUCH more appealing with an X86/64 CPU cluster, so that's where Intel comes in.

Jensen always wanted a CPU IP of his own, attempting to buy ARM outright several years ago ( and failed). Now the time and circumstances have aligned to give him the perfect opportunity to own Intel, and X86/64 license ofbhis iwn, to make entirely nVidia based APUs.

This will mean two Taiwanese cousins will control workd's only two X86/64 CPU and dominant GPU companies: Lisa Su with AMD/Radeon, and Jensen Huang with Intel/nVidia.

May the best cousin win!

NOSTRODRUNKUS HAS SPOKEN~

You do realize that trump invested in them heavily to prevent that from ever happening. It's crucial to national security so naw bro we good.

yeah, no. too much of a monopoly as it is. no way the fedgov, under either a republican or a democrat, would allow that to happen.

Doubtful. The worth of the x86 license is at an all time low as Microsoft/Windows is on the decline. The price would have to be extremely cheap considering Intel has nothing else of any value whatsoever.

x86 license is not transferable in case of an acquisition or merge.

That is only applicable to third party licenses, such as AMD, Via, etc.
Intel owns the X86 ISA, so if another company buys them, there is no issue.

Still, I'm not saying nvidia is going to buy Intel.
Nvidia just spent a ton of time and money developing their own ARM CPUs and they are going to release them in 2026.

After Nvidia results IMO people are out of their minds If they believe Nvidia will bring another gen of gpus for gaming. Game became totally irrelevant(less than 5% of profits) it is better to give up and shut down dedicated gpus. Amd will be the same with new deal with Meta.

No, X86_64 is licensed from AMD to Intel and cannot be transferred in case of acquisition of merge.

AMD only owns some key X86_64 extensions. It's not as deep as Intel owning the X86 ISA.
This means AMD can block nvidia from using those extensions, forcing it to adopt some new standard.
But the most likely case would be that AMD would renegotiate a new deal and get something out of it.

Not saying it will happen but as we've seen, the fedgov is powerless to one unelected judge.

No kings my ass.

Nvidia wanted ARM, they were focusing on mobile before all this AI shit craze, so in order of priorities there is extracting as much money possible from the AI bubble, then go back to mobile as usual

Doubt it. At one point it made sense though. I think now Nvidia can produce their own CPUs so they don't really need Intel anymore.

Why would NVIDIA buy Intel if X86 processors are declining, NVIDIA GPUs are orders of magnitude better than Intel offers AND Intel fabs suck?

Steam will be running on ARM before Nvidia does anything for the general gamer.
Cellphones to be the gaming machine of the future.
$2000 all in one does everything device.

There's a purple forum waiting for you. I think you logged into the wrong one. We use our brains over here… the first line of your political statement was telling
You musta joined after Tyler went open red pill. Believe it or not, Neogaf use to be "purple" as hell. I go waaaaay back. Back when when it was gaming-age. I know where I am.

Steam already does? You guys new to X86/64 emulation on ARM or something? You think Valve invented it? LOL

They didn't allow ARM, they definitely won't allow Intel.

Clanker edition:

NVIDIA officially terminated its proposed $40 billion acquisition of Arm Limited in February 2022, driven by intense, global regulatory opposition and antitrust lawsuits that deemed the merger a threat to industry competition. The U.S. FTC, UK, EU, and China raised concerns that Nvidia would gain control over critical chip technology, potentially harming competitors and stifling innovation.

Key reasons for the failure of the merger:
  • Antitrust Concerns (FTC): The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) sued to block the deal, arguing that merging the two companies would give NVIDIA too much power, allowing them to hinder access to technology that rivals rely on.
  • Industry Opposition: Key technology companies like Microsoft, Google, and Qualcomm opposed the deal, fearing reduced choice and increased prices.
  • Global Scrutiny: Investigations by regulatory bodies in the UK, European Commission, Japan, and China concluded that the deal could hinder competition in key markets, including AI and data centers.
  • Impact on Innovation: The FTC stated the deal would stifle the innovation pipeline for next-generation technology.

Following the termination, ARM began preparing for a public offering, while NVIDIA remained a licensee of the technology.

Then again, different times nowadays in the great AI overlord race.

You guys are avoiding the Trump factor. Nothing is business as usual any longer.

While as a fellow alcoholic I raise my glass to you OP, it's still Thursday. Weekend threads should be held back for one day still.
