Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

Looks awesome but her character model sticks out like a sore thumb
From the back she looks great, it's the face that look strange.

The facial expressions like she lack a couple fo chromosomes doesn't help neither, she is uncanny valley galore.

THAT'S NO MOON new studio formed on 2021 by high profile industry veterans
the game still unannounced but some of it's details as my original post, and it will based on popular IP
Eh 2021 and no footage? It will die just like BP and other studios.

These devs need to hold themselves accountable and at least have a vertical slice done within the first couple of years. They make it so easy for publishers to cancel games that havent been shown and thus have no fanbase. No backlash. Nothing.

But then again if you have gone 5 years without having anything to show, you are probably a bad developer who deserves to be shutdown.

Based on the LinkedIn profiles some resently hired high profile developer's very existing for the game saying it's genre defining, also they already have 110 million as initial budget

So yeah. the opening scene in RE9 is a legit next gen moment. That street and the subsequent alley are some of the best visuals ive ever seen. I really like the fog effect they use that enhances the rain. Never seen it in a game before. There is so much detail packed here its kinda crazy but sadly you cant walk on the road and they force you to stay on the sidewalk.

I can confirm that alleyway screenshot they released a few months ago was not a bullshot. The game really does look like that. Again, insane level of detail and lighting. legit silent hill 2 vibes. It looks as good as any other UE5 game out there.

Sadly, you then enter a building and the last gen graphics rear their ugly head. This is where SH2 just came alive and RE9 sadly fails. I understand there isnt much light in these dark interiors to make the visuals pop but the level of detail is lacking and the lighting overall is very flat.
Told you it has its "next-gen" moments, I hope we get to see that more frequently in the game.

I don't think their project is going well. At the end of last year, they had some big departures, like the Principal World Building or the Campaign Director and others leads who joined Sony studios like Naughty Dog, Insomniac, or Sucker Punch. Some literally went back to their old studios.

The fact that the studio is based in Los Angeles clearly isn't helping them, because a $110 million budget for where they are could quickly disappear.

This could be lowkey darkhorse in many of our topgraphics of 2026 contests:

Game looks manly af too which is huge plus.
Who wouldnt wanna be a debt collector :D

Keep it real, even dlss performance aka native 1080p upscaled to 4k wins vs that new pssr.
To put it simply
fsr2(aka base ps5/xbox series)= total trash, pssr/fsr4= decent lvl, good enough as long as native resolution is at least 1080p, dlss4 is black magic, u can even upscale from 720p(aka ultra performance) and it still has less artifacts than fsr4/pssr from 1080p native.

Wait it's not automatic? why having a toggle for something that is clearly better?
Maybe because it's still early and could lead to issues.

We look forward to more news in March, when multiple existing games upgrade to the improved PSSR. There will also be a system software update at that time; selecting "Enhance PSSR Image Quality" in Settings on PS5 Pro will allow you to experience the new PSSR with any PS5 Pro games that currently support PSSR! Once the system update releases next month, try it and see, some games may have noticeably crisper graphics.

Yo Gonzito Gonzito did you used the nvidia app to change the dlss profile to L? because it doesn't let me do it with dlss swapper, i can only update the dlss version but the profile slider is greyed out.

If you are using Pathtracing, the game will automatically use the best preset for it and you can't change it. If you only use Raytracing, then you should be able to change to any preset. You can use global settings in the Nvidia app to change any DLSS preset you want for any game

I recommend you to stick to Pathtracing and set DLSS to Auto

Capcom - Rockstar - ubisoft - remedy - Insomniac - cdpr - playground games - ninja theory - game science - Chinese developers - others showing us true current gen power, Now only remaining sony first party studios (except insomniac) still live on last gen, hopefully SSM and ND change that.

I have a 4080, PT could be off the table if it is heavier than cyberpunk.

Maybe try these settings to check if u can stomach combo of iq with 4k dlss perf and fgx2?

If not then indeed u will need to turn off pt and stick to rt, im assuming here u got 4k monitor, if u got only 1440p u gonna be golden.

No 4k is paramount for me, let's see if perf mode looks good enough with dlss 4.5.

I'm about to start the game right now.

I think, for the sake of perspective, it's good to see where the bottom-tier AAA are at with graphics, to see how much the floor has moved up along with our new ceiling.

Here is Pokemon Winds and Waves:

my 5080 is only 30% faster and it is more or less fine at 4k dlss performance. The first area was definitely the hardest to run and hovered around 50 fps but there is no gameplay there so it was fine. the alleyway was a locked 60 fps with room to spare so i switched to dlss balanced. indoors i can probably push to dlss quality because there is still some performance headroom.

the game is mostly set indoors from what ive seen. play with it on and if it becomes worse during the more open leon sections, just drop the resolution a bit. i really wish these games had DRS so i dont have to keep switching back and forth.

Edit:
I should mention that the 5080 is complete garbage for Path traced games. And games that use ray reconstruction. I can max out a game using Ray tracing at 4k DLAA and the GPU wattage barely hits 300 watts, but the moment i turn on path tracing or ray reconstruction, and it goes up to 360 watts. The fans start moaning like a whore and i basically have to reduce settings or turn off these ray tracing settings that are taxing the GPU so much, it goes into overdrive. Which would be fine if the cooling solution would keep up with it but nope.

Never seen this before in my 2080, 3080 and GTX 570 all those years ago. You should be able to max out your GPU without fear of it burning out because of poor cooling.
What is the most comparable game to re9? anal wake 2?

SlimySnake SlimySnake what looks better?
lol i played for only 20 minutes at midnight last night. i got kids and have to wake up early to get them ready for school.

in those 20 minutes, the early section is peak graphics. right up there with the best UE5 has to offer, if not better. Forget alan wake 2, it is in a league of its own. Maybe marvel 1943? But once you go indoors its dark and last gen assets everywhere. evne in the bathroom which isnt completely dark, you can tell its last gen with Path tracing slapped on. its no Silent Hill 2. of course, im only 20 minutes in.

Don`t generalize pls :)
I have a 5080 Palit Gamerock model with +450/1800 Overclocked settings sending the thing to nearly 400W at full load, and even then my GPU is still below the 75°C line while being pretty quiet.

So maybe its my ZOTAC model. I wonder if i should do an RMA.
some of you guys are hellbent on spoiling RE9 with your screenshots :messenger_grinning_smiling:
A gentleman would always spoiler tag those screengrabs
yeah, i am holding off on giffing this game for a week or so. People need to see the intro on their tvs.
