It was completely undercooked and not ready until now apparently. Where are the people who defended PSSR 1.0?
Let's see how many devs will actually use it now.
The fuck is it supposed to mean? The tech based on AI or deep learning initially are all "undercooked" for their nature. They need to evolve to give their best.

If people thought PSSR was an improvement over alternatives then why would this make them backtrack on that simply because PSSR has been improved further.

I'm sorry....but there are no "gotchas" here. Most everyone, whether they thought PSSR was good or not, expected there to be improvements. That was said before Pro even launched.

We already beyond. Now he is quite happy to not have raytracing on base console artifacts are too annoying. I'm ready to hear him jaggies are more natural and poetry than faking native pixels.

If the Pro had launched with this "new" PSSR, it might have been more successful.

But what Digital Foundry is showing makes PSSR2 look like it's reached PC quality; even Battaglia is satisfied^^

Wow that's incredible then. I already enjoyed my pro for what it was but if it's going to start doing shit like this I'm even happier about it. Sucks that I can't play horror games without feeling like I'm going to die.

The fact that both Alex and Oliver (well established and vocal critics of PSSR) have stated it has crossed the "more than good enough threshold" means:
  1. Bojji Bojji can turn full PSSR 2 fanboy in March and start shaming anyone that can't afford/don't want to spend on a Pro but still want to discuss graphics
  2. K Karim can retire and take a vacation
  3. adamsapple adamsapple can... be shamed by Bojji Bojji
 
That's what the leaks said, they even mentioned PS4 games and instead it's just Pro Enhanced games that a system wide toggle effects

It's shit in respect to disappointment yes, the quality is to be decided.
Sure because in PC you can use DLSS or FSR in all the games even the ones that don't support upscaler right?

Originally I was going to skip the pro this gen. Then my base started acting wonky, so I traded it in and paid the extra for the modest upgrades on the pro. Then the price went up. Now its looking like there really was a secret sauce being cooked up. I'm taking this as a big win.

I mean, adamsapple adamsapple is already claiming that paying it without RT on base consoles is better.
 
Well, hopefully it won't be too much trouble for devs to implement it in new games. And hopefully, the improved results will motivate them to go to the trouble of implementing it.
The problem is how developers perceive Pro benefit from sales pov. Implementing PSSR shouldn't be harder than DLSS or FSR, it's more the testing, fine tuning and support.
 
I don't get why there is an option in the OS? Does it automatically replace the old one with the new one for games beyond Requiem?

edit: nevermind, yea you can use this new one on old games.
How xan u use it on old games? And which ones? Every game or only pssr games

PSSR 2.0 is sharper with less ghosting than full fat FP8 FSR4.

This one scene where PSSR 2.0 was blurrier I think is caused by that DRS patent for PSSR we heard few days ago, as this is one of the heaviest part in the game.

It was impossible
It's a rare case when optimization is detrimental - ps5 pro does not support fp8, because int8 is more efficient in CNN (DLSS 2-3), and "default" transformer is fp8 only
It took an year for both Nvidia (DLSS 4.5 that support int8 came in January) and Sony/AMD to adopt transformer to int8
