Yes i guess the mechanics and the engine are better suited to lower level fights.

In Bg2 it seems like a lot of micromanagement is needed before important fights. Maybe it gets better once my group gets stronger.

But the Quest- and the Leveldesign are just better in BG2.

Yeah Torgal is a real pain. He hits like a truck, I *think* he can drain one of your stats, and like other trolls he regenerates so you need to keep whacking on him all the time. Pulling the other trolls in the room seperately (closing doors behind them if necessary) makes it a bit easier.

Man, I can't even remember when was the last time I played BG2 using an actual party instead of solo-ing it lol

Yeah, my party had no chance against the 3 trolls together, i had to lure them away one by one.

Admittedly i am not well versed with D&D2.5 and my party is not yet well optimized.
 
Finished Deadzone Rogue, still getting my extraction shooter fix from Witchfire cause it is amazing and single player.

Hopping onto Stellar Blade and Hitman: World of Assissinations (It was 3 bucks on Steam)

I played REquiem all day... my nerves are shot so I had to take a break.

Without spoiling anything, the duality of a scared female protagonist mixed with the action of a male protagonist works really fucking well. Just when you're about to have a heart attack you can kick some ass.

Glad I took the plunge.

Continuing my BG2 journey, and I'm getting more and more comfortable with the spells and mechanics.


What I really love about the game is how perfectly BioWare nailed the fantasy tone.

It doesn't feel overly dark and grim like Pillars of Eternity 1 or The Witcher 3, but it's also not too light-hearted like BG3.
 
Switching between a few great games to see what sticks next. Dying Light is amazing so far and runs on mac. Just want the dang grappling hook already. Started RE: Village which looks incredible and plays great. Lastly been playing Doom: Youngblood in co-op. Gunplay is great but everything else, not so much.

Wolfenstein Youngblood? I hated how obnoxious the girls were. After both Wolfenstein I & 2 did so well with gunplay and level design. I couldn't believe how bad Youngblood was.

I know. Had already passed on it but after Dark Ages had the itch to play another ID Engine game so giving youngblood another shot.

The over-the-top positivity from the sisters is built right into the gameplay. You get buffs from shouting positive affirmations, so in the middle of gunfights you're shouting, "Great job sis! 🤘" to your teammate, just like you do for reloading. It's bizarre.

I definitely did not get hooked on this game to start there was no definitive hook for me. I didn't really care for the combat or the way the narrative was proceeding but the more I play it the more I do appreciate the interactions between Kratos and the boy. I like that Kratos remains very terse in terms of his responses and there is some value in that I think. While I do enjoy the conversations that happen on the boat sometimes they end and begin a little too quickly, back to back when there should probably be some space in between. At the same time there isn't some gigantic space in which to be paddling around for that space to exist, so it makes some sense. It is interesting that the notes are from the boys perspective and I do read all of the entries when the law option pops up.

While I still don't think it's an amazing game by any means, I'm getting a little more into it as I go along but I don't fault myself for dropping this a couple of hours into it years ago because there's just not much to keep you going at first. And it doesn't need to be said but this is nothing like the original games for better or for worse. As always with IP reinventions, even if I like what's new my biggest concern is always that it potentially means evisceration of what was old going forward (ie Zelda).

I felt the same about the slow start. It really takes a while to click, especially if you're coming from the older games. The Kratos and Atreus dynamic is what carried it for me too. It's not perfect, but it definitely grows on you the more time you give it.

I remember loving it, but then Wrath of the Righteous released and I dropped it like an ugly side-ho. But while I wait for Crimson Desert to relase (please be good) this is the perfect time for another go.

Despite how buggy and unoptimised it is I'm still having a blast, just have to save often.

Running a dual wielding Tiefling Muscle-Mage, going into Eldritch Knight with a dip into Dragon Deciple. Should work out fine and be fun all the way to the end. Pumped it up to "challenging" difficulty which seems to be a sweet spot for my current team.

Just entered Act 2 and trying to get used to the Kingdom management again. Not my favourite part, but with some early optimisation I hopefully avoid too much micro management in the future. We'll see, worst case scenario I make kingdom management easier in the options. 😋

I liked the story in Kingmaker way more than Wrath of the Righteous. Especially if you stumble upon the "true" ending, good stuff.

Made some progress in RE Requiem and I can't believe I'm writing this but… I could not wait to play as Leon and now that I do I wanna go back to Grace. Leon part feels strange so far. Getting too many RE6 vibes here…
 
I'm finally getting around to playing some KCD2.

Game is fantastic and I'm getting lost in the world in the best way. Exploring around and finding shit is fun in and of itself. Still very early (about 10 hour mark).

So I got hit by this weird bug in Darksiders 3 which reset my stats and took all my items, lol.

It weirdly didn't completely reset game progress though as I could still access the area to fight the final boss.
 
RE Requiem is one helluva Resident Evil so far. It's crazy good. The atmosphere and tension is through the roof. Love the initial mystery they've set up here, keeps me engaged 100%. It's also an absolute show stopper on Switch 2. A true next gen experience.

Playing World of Warcraft Midnite, in about a week I will play the new season of Diablo IV with new classes being released.
Just started Resident Evil Requiem
I got Dragonage 4 for PS5 for free from Sony subscription, and am like 80% done with it but put it on the backburner for Wow.
Am also at the very end of Silent Hill 2 remake but havent finished it.
Playing Lumines Arise off and on. Need to get back to Vampire Survivors Castlevania DLC before Vampire Crawlers comes out
When ever I do resubscribe to GamePass I need to beat Sea of Stars, Indiana Jones, start playing Outer Worlds 2.
 
Resident Evil Requiem
Second playthrough. Be surprised if this doesn't finish as my GOTY.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Having a blast with this. I got the ability which lets me take down foes from treetops - very cool.

I've also picked up two new games: Vampires: Bloodlord Rising and Onimusha 2. I don't normally purchase early access titles but I was in the mood for a vampire game. Bought Onimusha 2 because it's one of my favourite series and because seeing the preview thread for the upcoming game got me a bit excited.
 
Currently doing a first playthrough of RE4 via the remake. Then onto Requiem, then Crimson Desert which drops on my bday. Still debating picking up Marathon as well. Too many games and its a beautiful thing this early in the year lol
 
I have had no time for video games but been playing the Motorfest NASCAR stuff and then trying to play Mario Tennis. I still can't believe Mario Tennis is $70, it behooves me. I really feel like Nintendo rips their customers off so much lol, something needs to change.
 
RE Requiem is really rough on the nerves when playing as Grace. Capcom has done an outstanding job with the horror here, but also with Grace as a character in how vulnerable she feels. Her breathing and anxiety is a nice touch because you are really emphasizing with her as she tries to survive the sheer terror she is enduring. It amplifies the horror and makes it all the more real.

Capcom has also done a great job diversifying the zombies and enemies, with several of them having unique looks and personality to them. It makes the world seem more believable, especially as you discover some things about certain individuals and how they behave in the clinic you explore.

The best thing about Requiem however is the story. The game is great at building mystery and the way Capcom are gradually leaning into the overall RE-mythos is very well done. Incredible level of detail to the overall presentation, which makes a longtime RE-fan like me all the more happier.
 
Okay I don't know what was my last update but i'm on an Atlus run basically back to back. Started with P3R and P5R and now on the last dungeon of Metaphor.
 
Been playing a lot of WoW: Midnight. My son is obsessed with it and it's rekindling my love for that game, as old as it is. Doing BGs and delves together. Trying to out-do eachother in home building. He keeps building parkour stuff in his house to race to. Love this little nerd.

Doom The Dark Ages on ps5.
I'm enjoying my time with it, but I do agree with the common opinion that it's the worst out of the 3 modern Doom games. I don't love the focus on the shield, parrying and deflecting out of place looking green orbs and rays, and the music is a clear downgrade. But it's still a fun and relatively fast paced single player shooter and in a way I can at least appreciate ID trying to make 3 unique and distinct feeling games instead of a bunch of "more of the same" sequels.
Visually I was also a bit underwhelmed as it looks quite blurry on a base Ps5. Like with most games this gen, I don't feel like the visual upgrades over the last gen entry are worth killing the image quality. I went back to Eternal just to compare and I much prefer the worse graphics but with much better IQ.

Space Marine 2

I finished the campaign, and am now doing the Operations Mode, to fill in the blanks.

I think they missed a trick here, as it would've been cool swap between the main story, with Titus and co, and over to your custom dude to see what was happening in route B.

Also, Operations Mode should really have left you have an online / offline profile, to let you level up your character.
 
This guy is the most badass Crusader Kings 3 character I've ever played as. I'm gonna miss him when he's gone. Originally Duke of Bohemia in the 1066 start, then King, and now Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. He has enough stewardship to rule 12 counties without penalties, men at arms maxed out to the limit, everyone loves him, I've never built so many buildings before, he makes huge amounts of money as you can see, and he's made it to like 80 years old, which is seriously old for the time, and he's still in great health :pie_open_mouth:.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 with the Kyber mod.
Highly recommend giving it a try, it's an overhaul mod that adds a ton of new weapons and heroes to the game and their servers has actual moderation too so it isn't a complete nightmare of hackers like official.
 
So I decided on and settled into Ys X: Proud Nordics on PS5. It's good so far. Graphics and art design are always nice in this series. Gameplay is tight. It's a slow burn at the start but that's okay. The game has plenty to do so I will get bang for my buck. I tend to use Adol all the time and rarely switch characters, but I think I should branch out more, at least with Karja at the start. The costumes are nice and I bought some costume DLC. Some of it gets racy for Karja and I am okay with that haha. It's nice how you can theme the party with similarly styled costumes. I tried some pirate gear on both Adol and Karja and it looked really good lol.

I am installing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. I have been casually playing Avowed and it made me want to finally see how Oblivion turned out.

Outside of delves and housing, what's the rest of the expansion like? Not played since mid War Within and a little tempted to come back.
 
Onimusha 2
I absolutely bloody love this game. I really liked the first Onimusha, but this added quite a few new things which I, as the kids say, vibe with. The mechanic of giving gifts and affecting relationships is something I enjoy.

Vampires: Bloodlord Rising
Rather rough around the edges, but I have been having a good time with the game after a couple of hours. Combat is satisfying and the building aspect is pretty easy.

Yeah they're pretty complicated. The tutorials have gotten better, but there are still a lot of kinda hidden gotcha mechanics that I've learned about over time.

I could complain about stuff that they don't do how I'd like for a while, but I also love these games. They're pretty unique. CK3 might be my most played game ever on Steam :pie_thinking:.
 
Finished the Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly demo. One of my favorite horror games from the PS2 era and the game that got me into the Fatal Frame/Project Zero franchise. Very spooky. Great atmosphere. The updated graphics does wonder for the overall presentation although I think the original still holds up remarkably well. It's gonna be neat diving into this after Requiem.
 
Just beat Firkraag for the first time in BG2.

It was a pain in the Ass and i had to revive two party members after the fight.

But i got some seemingly very OP items out of it.

I did almost every sidequest in Chapter 2 and now its time to go and get Imoen out !

It's been great so far, by WoW standards. Remade Silvermoon is a really cool city. They revisit a fair amount of old content through the campaign (mostly Arator questline) which is a nice change of pace to not treat the world as content that no longer exists in a new expansion.

Dungeons: Good boss fights. Good aesthetics. Arguably too many trash mobs. Will see how this pans out when the season starts

PvP: Feels good right now, besides disc priests early on seem unstoppable. I main feral, which seems to be in a good space. I'm enjoying it. Awaiting the season start changes to see how that skews.

Open world: Between world quests, prey, events and delves it feels like there's a lot to do

Pretty much every system feels at the peak of what it's been. A lot to do. Downside is that comes with more progres bars to track and more currencies to be maintained
