Finished Resident Evil Requiem. Probably the best RE since 4. Incredible game. The dual protagonist set up was expertly paced and made for a well varied adventure, that blended first and third person perspectives in a very natural way. The horror was excellent, as was the action, with lots of cool set pieces, terrifying enemies and interesting villains. The best thing however was the story. It had some jaw dropping revelations that will have massive impact on the franchise going forward. It took RE into a new and exciting future, something I didn't think was possible, considering Capcom has recycled much of the same story beats and tropes for three decades now. Capcom definitely cooked with this entry. It's straight up GOTY material.
I played on Switch 2 and it was a terrific port. Graphics were fantastic and I sometimes had to pinch my arm because I couldn't believe the level of fidelity that was achieved here. Characters and environments look spectacular, especially in handheld mode and it's all achieved at 60fps. It's a true next gen show piece for the system and the fact that it comes not even a year into the Switch 2s lifespan is a great sign of things to come.
