lol imagine panic-buying Bungie during the pandemic gaming bubble, then seeing this shit:

Sounds more like an adult daycare than a business. I suspect more layoffs and restructuring are coming soon, if they even survive.
They have a total of 85k people playing Destiny 2 and Marathon COMBINED right now.So will Bungie survive this?
They can't catch a break, the negativity will continue. The fake positivity will vanish after the next 2-3 week... Just pure raw facts and hard truths

85k daily peak CCU's on Steam would most likely generate over 1000mil per year for GAAS games. Even something like Destiny 2 still generates a ton of money with 20k Steam peaksThey have a total of 85k people playing Destiny 2 and Marathon COMBINED right now.
I don't see how they survive this, at least in any meaningful capacity like they are now. There's no more updates to Destiny 2 until June and I very much doubt the "update in a couple weeks" for Marathon will move the needle at all.
What fake positivity?
We know this is not true.85k daily peak CCU's on Steam would most likely generate over 1000mil per year for GAAS games. Even something like Destiny 2 still generates a ton of money with 20k Steam peaks
Bungie should be fine. If Marathon shut down tmmrw, they would probably be some layoffs, but the vast majority would just start work on Destiny 3
That's some crazy math if you think players are going to spend that much on cosmetics shit.85k daily peak CCU's on Steam would most likely generate over 1000mil per year for GAAS games. Even something like Destiny 2 still generates a ton of money with 20k Steam peaks

The concern isn't Bungie shutting down. The problem is they are not worth 3.6bil that Sony spent. That money is already gone, though
Exactly. That's why in 2–3 weeks, the discourse will predominantly come from people actually playing the game. MTXs, lack of content, fixes to the meta-balancing..stuff like that.I think the player opinions is probably more important.
Even if it were true it's not gonna be doing 80,000 daily. It's first weekend and it's below that already, mid week it will be lucky to hit 40,000.That's some crazy math if you think players are going to spend that much on cosmetics shit.
Missing revenue projections doesn't mean the studio isn't profitable. Layoffs doesn't correlate to profitability. As an example, tech companies are making more money than ever, but most of them have had massive layoffs in recent yearsWe know this is not true.

Report: Bungie Laid Off 8% of Staff as Revenue Missed Projections by 45%
First-party PlayStation studio, Bungie, was confirmed to have been hit with layoffs on Monday as many employees confirmed to have [...]www.vgchartz.com
I dont think the current Bungie can undertake something as massive as Destiny 3
No they're very active in the OT thread, talking about the actual game instead of pulling their puds to CCUs
I actually think it would be a great idea to have one day a month where there's no electricity or internet to force people to go outside and see peopleBefore you guys start making fun of the game for today please educate yourselves and remember it's national play outside day

thats their safe space. and thats fineNo they're very active in the OT thread, talking about the actual game instead of pulling their puds to CCUs
Game just came out. 88k is good for a game y that peaked at 250k plus players, that's not what is happening here85k daily peak CCU's on Steam would most likely generate over 1000mil per year for GAAS games. Even something like Destiny 2 still generates a ton of money with 20k Steam peaks

Sony already took an impairment charge on one of their recent financial releases, which basically says they re-evaluated how much Bungie is worth and took the difference (which was a loss) out of their balance sheet already. The concern isn't Bungie shutting down. The problem is they are not worth 3.6bil that Sony spent. That money is already gone, though
There could be downsizing, but to say they probably going to shut down is wishful thinking of you. Bungie is still one of biggest brands in gaming. Zero chance they get shut down![]()
Destiny 2 is basically cooked, and Marathon is not performing. Layoffs are expected regardless. I don't know if Sony will have the patience to wait 6+ years for Bungie to make Destiny 3 at this point. (especially when the key talent that made Bungie, Bungie, is not there anymore)![]()

If the ccu was 200k they would be very very active here.. so ...No they're very active in the OT thread, talking about the actual game instead of pulling their puds to CCUs
Every succesfull modern audience gaas means potential less single player games targetted towards core audience(males) so ofc being selfish af i wish them all burn to the ground, and if not all then at the very least all founded by big publishers, that money competes with high quality singleplayer games that arent fundend, we had recent example with closed bluepoint studios."Some people just wanna see the world burn" vibes from this thread
Bungie started it when they set Destiny on fire."Some people just wanna see the world burn" vibes from this thread
Apparently only 2% of the Bungie that worked on Halo still remains. Is it even the same bungie these days or just in name only?
To be fair, Marathon developers and journous were too smug and arrogant"Some people just wanna see the world burn" vibes from this thread

As a lifelong sports gaming fan and cod fan, im used to getting shit, so I dont feel bad for em lol.Leave the people enjoying the game to their own devices. Hell I created the BO7 OT so I appreciate that those threads are available as an escape from the viral internet pile-on.
Conversely there's also nothing wrong with us chortling in here enjoying the schadenfreude of another Sony live service flop, especially after they canned Bluepoint two weeks ago.

What's your favorite genre?Nah just wanna see extraction shooters burn
Yeah like Tom in janitorial and Su in craft services.
They are fantastic people and brought a lot to the original Halo trilogy.
Their contributions carry on.
What's your favorite genre?
Clearly, people went out partying on Saturday night.
Once they get home, oh boy, those numbers are gonna skyrocket.
