Already passed yesterday's peak CCU on Steam. Momentum be changing. Word is finally getting out. Still top 5 on Steam. The legs will be long! Game is fire!
Yup. Bit trend up today. About 2,000 more than yesterday using same hourly time. About 1,000 more than yesterday peak overall.Already passed yesterday's peak CCU on Steam. Momentum be changing. Word is finally getting out. Still top 5 on Steam. The legs will be long! Game is fire!
Please point me in the direction of these new great single player fps campaigns in the vein of say... Half Life 2, Titanfall 2, F.E.A.R., Metro 2033... I must be missing something.what you on about, i played so much SP FPS games in the last few years i have to take breaks
Devs hated gamers first, so now we hate them backSo many people focused on negativity and nothing else. Meanwhile I'm enjoying the game. I can see why devs hate gamers.
Me setting up my Polymarket account so I can bet on how fast @Men_in_Boxes changes his avatar to Fairgame$$$

If you aren't a chronic refunder you can message Steam Support and they can grant a one off refund. The more I play it, the less I like it. Unfortunately, I'm over two hours gametime, so I can't get a Steam refund anymore.
But honestly even if it had 200k players right now, it wouldn't really matter. Players should spend money so that Bungie can at least recoup the long and expensive development costs.
But this is what you can buy in the game: Premium Battle pass. That's the only character skin that you get and some ugly other things.

Or those things outside of the Battle Pass. No one's going to buy that. I have seen one paid skin in the game so far.

Ion Fury and DUSK deserve a mention as well. And honestly way more
This is capitalism. We are not required to like something just because they put effort into it. That's participation trophy level nonsense. So many people focused on negativity and nothing else. Meanwhile I'm enjoying the game. I can see why devs hate gamers.
And Ashes 2063, Overload, Cultic, Beyond Citadel, Hedon Bloodrite, HROT, Prodeus, Postal Brain Damage, RoboCop, Trepang2... If there's a genre that hasn't been lacking in the last half a decade or so is FPS.Ion Fury and DUSK deserve a mention as well.
People are finally getting home from church.
And I would argue it's easier to make a return on a single player experience then it is to go up against the evergreen GAAS monsters.huh, so devs of single player games can create a title with 12 hours worth of content while receiving $70 per copy sold, whereas devs of GAAS must create games with 100s hours worth of content for $40 (and still selling less).
I wonder which is the better business proposition![]()
That was another one that was for me at least just repetitive nonsense. The explosions sure they were ok and it was fun to shoot the guns but talk about a slog to level, and the skins, guns etc just ugly trash I bounced off this game quick, just sick of these types of service games. And I would argue it's easier to make a return on a single player experience then it is to go up against the evergreen GAAS monsters.
Even the competition from Sony's other GAAS games is tough.

Bashing something just because you don't like it isn't capitalism, stop it. I wish I could say the real reason but too many snowflakes will melt. This is capitalism. We are not required to like something just because they put effort into it. That's participation trophy level nonsense.
Meanwhile I've already pre-ordered Crimson Desert.

I can also use this logic and say Terraria or Stardew Valley or Minecraft give you 1000+ hours replay value and cost less than Marathon.Right, but none of you are playing that right now because it was a $70 dollar, 12 hour game with little replay value.
There is nothing left to squeeze there so fans of that type of game go online and find engagment by complaining about Live Service games. I've played around 30 hours of Marathon for $40 dollars, and will likely play it non stop until the start of season 2. Likely much longer.
That's why I view certain types as "resentment gamers". They're constantly dumped on the ground by an abusive model.
Now I would love to keep interacting with y'all here. My PvP nature loves this adversarial discussion, but I'm probably close to being banned. Se la vie!
Well, Helldivers 2 had a 64183 peak on its first day. It didn't reach its Steam all time CCU peak until the 3rd weekend. And I would argue it's easier to make a return on a single player experience then it is to go up against the evergreen GAAS monsters.

Your inital comment said nothing about YOUR reason you made a blanket statement like it was fact, full stop, and I've told you that I'm not saying it in the forum.I gotta hear this "real reason", because I already know my reason and it's simple extraction is about as fun as a prolapsed ass, but i gotta hear this real reason
Make another bet asking if he's the Morgan Park of PC Gamer.

If that`s all you have to say after putting these simplistic 1 dime a dozen shooters in the same category as a Half-Life , TF2 or Metro then I guess I can rest my case.....
I mean, it's 100% clear you haven't played a single one of those, nor at least watched enough gameplay to emit any worthwhile opinion. Why bother? If that`s all you haver to say after comparing the most simplistic braindead shooters to something like Half-Life or Metro then I guess I can rest my case.....

I could try and explain how Selaco has probably the most advanced enemy AI in any FPS right now, or demonstrate the particle/destruction system in it, the layer of secrets in Ultrakill as well as it's fluid gameplay mechanics, the masterclass progression design in Turbo Overkill... but what's the point when you're clearly the type who can only talk about in terms of ray tracing and shaders? I bet you're one of those users who spend a lot of time in that graphics fidelity thread.
I played all half life games (both when i was younger and after) and i'd still put some of those together up there as best of all time.I love all these games and it's obvious none of these games are similar to a Titanfall 2, Half life 2 campaign FPS type wise.
Played Titanfall 2 but honestly didn't find it particularly fun so just dropped it after a while
tbf i did play it with a controller
Stalker2 was nice...and FarCry/GhostRecon also falls in this category for me. But yeah, solid sp FPS shooters with nice graphics you can never have enough. If that`s all you have to say after putting these simplistic 1 dime a dozen shooters in the same category as a Half-Life , TF2 or Metro then I guess I can rest my case.....
Oh noOf course if you mean just like half life, that's literally impossible since anything that tries to be Half Life will just come out as a copy. Not to mention the technological context is all too different.
Oh no
I think the best "half-like" you can find that exists that isn't a 1:1 copy is System Shock Remake.... which makes sense considering Half Life was directly inspired by the original system shock, just a simplified, streamlined version with better tech. And now the remake is the unsimplified version with even better tech.I think the most Half-Life game but it still isn't a one to one game like Half-Life at least to me is Biotic Factor. But that game has a lot of crafting involved.
But still the notion there haven't been any great FPS games at all is a complete lie. And when presented with overwhelming evidence it just seems silly to deny it.
Especially when more are coming and some games like Selaco are getting big updates this year.
Who knows where all the money went. They even got a 6 month delay to tidy up the game and graphics from the plagiarism issue.I can believe that. Let's try not to derail the topic anymore though. Plenty of FPS to go around and more to come. I really wish the bigger companies could see what gamers really want. I think Marathon would see more success if they have a Campaign or throwback campaigns of the other 3 games and had the Extraction Shooter stuff as a supplementary mode.
Part of why games like Unreal and Turok 2 were so fun back in the day was not only did you have a baller campaign but you also had a highly competitive multiplayer mode to go along with it. Fun times.
In that context, every game will nosedive tmmrw with it being a weekday. Marathon doesn't have great CCU numbers, but it has held solidly the past few days. It is clear that people playing the game are not bouncing off of it in big numbers. It will have a solid foundation of players to cater toLooking at some other big shooters that are already out, Marathon's small increase in peak CCU today follows the other games too. Sunday peak is a touch higher than Saturdays.
Right now at 7 pm EST, Marathon is at the same number of 73k. Make note of Spring Forward an hour ahead. So today's 7 pm EST is similarly compared to yesterday's 6 pm. Both at 73k.
So unless something big happens to prop up the CCU, this game isnt growing on the weekend on either day vs launch day of 88k. So tomorrow it should nosedive as it's a weekday.
If the game doesnt have anything big to increase it, I agree it wont be a fast trainwreck like Highguard which lost almost the entire base after a handful of days. Marathon will be more of a slow burn game.In that context, every game will nosedive tmmrw with it being a weekday. Marathon doesn't have great CCU numbers, but it has held solidly the past few days. Word of mouth has started to shift of people ACTUALLY PLAYING THE GAME. I can't think of another release that was as hated and vitriolic as this. Marathon withstanding decent numbers in that context should be commended. I mean look at this trainwreck of thread. Everybody hoping it is Concord or Highguard 2.0

Expectations of a Concord or HG failure werent literal. It's not even possible since Concord was pulled and only got 700 CCU and HG dropped like a rock. But given it's Bungie, they had a 6 month delay and the cost to make it will make Marathon have more expectations than out of the blue games like Concord/HG from noname studios with zero games under their belt.
People like to make fun of big GAAS failures since it's a giant waste of time and money, a waste of gamer's time, and whomever made could had made something else. For any Bungie fans, instead of getting Destiny 3, they got Marathon. And since Bungie wont be cumping any shooters together, assuming D3 is even in development it probably wont come out for another 3-4 years. It surely wont be coming out next year. So any Destiny fans got to wait it out.
And adding to the recent GAAS failures, it's not even just bad games or bad budgets. But weird shit like stealth launching with a Keighley promo with no beta feedback (HG), DEI and not telling gamers it was a hero shooter till 3 months before (Concord), or sketchy shit like plagiarism and a rough beta last year (Marathon).
While the game is a commercial flop (as we speak and given its current trajectory) Bungie can still save some face with a CCU around 50–70K. Their biggest issue is how the hell they will attract more players ASAP. They need the 4th map to perform a miracle. But the game is what it is. It will need a transformation from the ground up (desing wise) to attract a more casual audience. In that context, every game will nosedive tmmrw with it being a weekday. Marvel Rivals has done well too.People complain about gaas games but there have been so few great gaas games this generation. There is Arc Raiders, Helldivers 2, Battlefield 6
Good GAAS games are not a waste of time and money. Marathon could shut down tomorrow and I feel like I already got my 40$ worth. For me, easily the best PvP game since Apex Legends came out. It is just bizarre seeing a good game getting maligned like this
The weakest part of the game is the somewhat repetitive AI. I don't know why Bungie made practically all enemies Bi-Ped with the same color scheme. It makes sense story wise, but there isn't enough variation of how to approach each enemyWhile the game is a commercial flop (as we speak and given its current trajectory) Bungie can still save some face with a CCU around 50–70K.
