This is old news, the MS store wants to do basically what Steam does with Vulkan shader downloads. They already talked about it a while ago, this is not a real and durable solution to the issue.

Thats's it? And when there are driver updates again you have to precompile shaders. Total nothing burger. You save just the initial install time compared to precompiling them yourself.

Yeah its fine with most games. TLOU remake though, it was like 30mins lol. In fact it was so long my cpu was thermal throttling by the end of it.

Thanks god they changed it for the sequel.

Like all their technologies, it was announced via their blog. You probably haven't heard much about it because it's mostly geared towards developers.
For the general public, it will be more apparent when a game announces the use of the technology.

Shader compilations aren't annoying, stutters are annoying (if there is no compilation or partial compilation).

I had never refunded a single game on Steam until a few years back when this shit started to turn up. I put a PC together to enjoy the benefits of higher FPS and DLSS. I shouldn't have to be forced to refund and pick up the same game on my PS5 due to shader stutter.

Steam lets you precache shaders already...but I have never seen a difference, except that games needs way more longer to start. Turned it off again.

Good point but this should at least help with those few shaders "missed" at the pre compilations.
