Alan Wake 2 and Control Ultimate edition will support PSSR 2.0

I actually want to try Control again. I feel I didn't get it a decent shot and a big reason is I hated the HDR when the next gen version first came out. No date then? 'll get AI to check weekly and let me know when it comes out.
 
Still haven't gotten around to finishing Alan Wake 2. Curious how it'll look after this. Control is overrated crap with one cool sequence, though.

OK, OK, I'm being harsh. I just thought it was a serious step down in just about every category outside of graphics and character movement compared to previous Remedy games. You can tell it was a budget game, and the world just didn't end up being as compelling as it initially seemed. The sequel looks badass, though.

Control has great "controls" haha but the environment was boring as hell and too samey samey to me. I got lost so easily.

Alan Wake 2 is a much better game, but I miss the destruction of control.
 
I liked control a lot and would play it again on ps5.

But i assume we already are getting pssr 2 with the os update, when is that launching?
OS update is supposed to be this month.

This post from Remedy doesn't say if it'll be available in those games when the OS update is released or if they're doing an RE9 thing where it's available in those games prior to the update.
 
OS update can't be nearly as good as dedicated PSSR2 patch for the game.

I don't think there should be any difference. All upscalers use the same hooks mostly, with something like optiscaler you can change any of them to something else and it works.

There are differences especially if games suffer of heavy broken noisy. An enhancement forced via OS is "generic" and can't prevent specific issues of the engine.

Well it's just a software algorithm that is replacing another software algorithm. I guess theoretically a patch could be better if the dev reworks how the game is displayed to take advantage of how the algorithm works now, but considering how shitty remedy did with pssr1 I'm not expecting it. But we will see.

I don't know how exactly works pssr2 but theorically should give different configuration or a sort of different setting available to the developers to handle? At least the first pssr iteration was like that more or less. Seems weird it has just a single configuration for every use.

I don't want to get too deep in the woods here but there are like 75 pssr games… I am sure Sony tested the new algorithm on all of them.

I have greaaat doubt. Sony tested if it works for all games not looking to every specific limitations or flaws. But I would be more than happy to be wrong.

Got them both ready. Kudos to Remedy for taking care of their games on consoles. Im missing just couple DLC trophies in AW2 and Control probably deserves another playthrough since they gave it pro support and now even pssr 2. I played it only on base PS5, loved the dualsense implementation there.
 
AW2 was one of the WORST example of PSSR implementations, and they seemed to be very proud of it. I'd much rather have the system toggle to do the job than having them specifically tailor it :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I haven't played it yet, but do you really think Control was a step down of the unbelievable repetitive gameplay loop of AW1? Enemies spawning behind you and constantly doing the same shit over and over with a character that just won't shut up in every corner of the game and constantly annoys me with his narration, I don't think Control can be worse than this.

Quantum Break was awesome. Input latency did hurt the Xbox version, though. The game didn't wear out its welcome, and the powers were really cool too.
