CONTROL Ultimate Edition next update will include HDR, VRR, 120 Hz, unlocked frame rate and PS5 Pro support.

Did you listen to Oliver? These changes are a complete nothing burger. They removed RT reflections and the game still renders at 864p internally ....

I watched the video they provided. The PSSR noise is mostly gone. That's what I wanted. And RT Reflections are still in the game. It's just that it's toned down on hard surfaces to remove the noise.

It's not just RT noise that's a problem on the Pro. Pssr is almost as bad with aliasing and artifacting as FSR2 was in this game. Esp indoors any location and NYC. Ironically its the outdoor, foliage heavy areas that are a lot better with PSSR in this game.
Indeed most of the annoying issues are about denoising which PSSR completely lacking. But there are example as AC Shadows who proved you can make an excellent use of it.

Despite loving Remedy stuff, I never got past the first hour of this , was always planning on retrying so this patch will be very welcome.

[PlayStation 5 Pro] Added PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) support. Using PSSR results in smoother edges, improved hair, and vegetation visual quality. Using PSSR can slightly impact performance, so if you would rather have the original "look" of Control, you can disable PSSR in the settings.
• [PlayStation 5 Pro] Improved Screen Space Reflections in Performance Mode
• [PlayStation 5 Pro] Updated Texture and Shadow resolution filtering (anisotropic)

Curious if quality mode runs at 40fps unlocking the fps.

No RT reflections in performance in Pro is a bummer but I think it's fair enough since that game isn't going to make not even another sale ever and Remedy aren't precisely drowning in money.

The patch also adds a new mission to the game, well .. new to the console versions at least.

Nice.

According to the complete release notes "All players will receive the mission Dr. Yoshimi Tokui's Guided Imagery Experience, featuring voiceover by Hideo Kojima. The mission is playable when you pick up the Dr Tokui Tapes collectible in the Extrasensory Lab of the Research Sector. (This mission was previously exclusive to the PlayStation 4 Digital Deluxe version of Control.)" The mission has also been available to players on PC since March 2025, but is now available across all platforms.

Curious to see the FPS in Quality when unlocked. Also how PSSR is implemented.
Very curious to find out if they have fixed the raytracing artifacts with the PSSR. Hope if it's case, eventually they will update Alan Wake 2 PSSR.

I've been testing the update on base PS5 for around half an hour and so far so good.

HDR seems to be pretty decent, which is a surprise after reading so many PC users complaining about it back in May when the PC version got the patch. Yes, generally black levels are raised but when you enter a very dark zone the black color can be very deep. I'd say it hits zero nits, so when the blacks are raised it's just their artistic choice, no doubt.

Performance is very good in both modes. Usually Performance Mode hovers aounrd 75-85 fps in the areas I tested, so it feels great. In Quality Mode I can't be sure because my TV can't display the frame rate correctly when a game is 30 fps unlocked, but it feels pretty much like a 40 fps mode to me. It's definitely better than 30 fps but I can't say I found an area or room where the game ran at 60 fps, which is a bit weird. I wonder if the Quality Mode with unlocked frame rate could actually be just a 40 fps mode. 🤔

Many games lately supporting PSSR after months with almost 0 releases. I wonder if Sony is planning a system option for forcing PSSR to PSSR 2 in the future, and that is the reason developers are implementing even on UE5 games

Playing it now- damn. PSSR really cleans up fine things like her hair.

Why can't this be the standard for games going forward? PSSR toggles? Uncapped toggles? This is how all games should be.
