Reddit Could Be The Next Platform To Force Face ID

In speaking to the Technology Business Programming Network (TPBN) podcast, CEO Steve Huffman affirmed that things like Face or Touch ID have been considered.

"The most lightweight way is with something like Face ID or Touch ID," Huffman said (Thanks Engadget for the spot). "They actually require a human presence, like a human has to touch, or do or look at something, so that actually just proves there's a person there or gets you pretty far."

If those don't come to the platform, then other options, like third-party services that are decentralized or don't require ID, could be instituted. Similarly, there could be a lane where ID-checking programs are used.

For his part, Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, admitted that Face ID wasn't something he had thought of, but it might be something that needs to be done.

You know what platform needs face or id verification? Fucking Snapchat

I opened Snapchat for 5 minutes or maybe even less and I found lots of pedophiles.

I hate id verification but Holy shit, Snapchat needs to implement it ASAP

GAF should force this so I can see how many of you, myself included, looking like pure mouth breathing retards trying to convince me this next loli anime gacha game is going to be amazing.

They are already asking for an ID in Brazil and UK

You can just send them a facescan of some random on Youtuber and they will accept it. Security is not a priority.

Internet is no longer anonymous. Gotta start saying racist shit in real life instead.

People will start finding ways to bypass verification with fake IDs, people will find ways to stay anonymous

You fellow perverts will put a FACE to your porn subreddits. Why? Because the new world order COMMANDS it.

Reject this, I say. Let these platforms BURN to the ground.

Whole lot of ugos going to be stored in their database.

Looking forward to the leaks:

Do it, I'm close to having my current account permabanned, but I haven't made that final push to find some nsfw meme to make it happen. It's a shitty place to be and the safe havens are very rare and they're still infected (more or less).

Leave the waifus alone man.

I like to think of Gaf as a bunch of 40'yrs old dudes around a barbecue fire talking about games and teasing each other

After going out of their way to incompetently hide post histories and enable bots and state actors, they consider this?

Yeah, it certainly has nothing to do with proving that there's a human behind the account.

I'd prefer no post histories myself. I find nothing more pathetic than people who comb a person's history to try and win an argument. I liked the internet more when we tried to be anonymous.

If the site is open to the internet, it's all being recorded and can be searched by username.

Hiding post histories is not only futile, it's a red flag that the people doing it don't want to be accountable for what they say. In an anonymous internet, that's probably something really bad, really stupid, or is a giveaway to bot accounts.

Context matters and post histories provide that. That way people can screen who they respond to.

I don't think it's necessarily that they're trying to hide something really horrible, but these days a lot of people feel the need to share way too much about themselves. That's gotta be a big part of why instagram is so popular, because it's got the built in option to automatically delete the embarassing things you post.
