PSN dynamic pricing in full effect during Spring Sale

Did anyone else even get the $26 price? Everyone, including me, seems to be showing that their price is $39.59.

Some people on twitter and Reddit are saying it's $26.99 for them. Some are saying they spend a lot of money on the store and have it, others say they rarely buy digital games and have it. I guess it's a more deep algorithm than just that.

Mine says $39.59.

Apparently Cheap Ass Gamer doesn't buy enough games.

This is just targeted coupons. Should we ban coupons then?
This is a horrid take.

I get "targeted coupons" in the mail every week. The existence of those coupons doesn't alter the price of the product on the shelf per-customer. It's my choice whether or not to use them. In this "dynamic pricing" system you have no choice. This is the price they decided for you. Whether you like it or not.

Bro this Dark Soul may be selling still crazy after all those years, i rarely see it in sales below 20$, insane for such an old game. Legendary game tho btw.

I got $40, how do I apply for PSN welfare???
Apparently people that don't buy as many games on PSN see these discounts. I guess don't buy digital games on PSN and see what the deals are in a few months lol
I guess Sony figured that if you buy a few games a year, you won't mind paying higher prices. Instead of giving you a discount, you get punished for being loyal to their digital store front. What could possibly go wrong with this strategy.

Honestly this feels kind of short sighted, either this is like an A/B test and one of the B's just happened to be someone with a large twitter following, or they are burning goodwill in order to entice an incredibly small number of people purchase a single game. But what the hell do I know, I'm just going to keep buying games if I think they are a fair price, and not buying them if I don't think they are a fair price.

this is hilarious, Sony has become so brazen in how they fuck over their fan base

It looks like the discount is based largely on how many games you buy and the less game you buy the more likely you are to get a discount

So if you support buying games on PSN you basically get fucked and if you generally ignore Sony and don't buy games, that's when you get the benefit

Ohh then I'm fucked because I will often buy games twice, first physical and then digital when it gets super cheaper.

They probably have me labeled as a pay pig in the system 😭

Mine is still high and I've been on PSN since day 0.

I don't like this dynamic pricing at all... You won't know if you are lucky or fucked in the ass unless you log out/have second account.

You'll never see a discount ever again lol
I hope Sony doesn't increase your prices while lowering them for others. I kid, but I could see them doing this 100%.

On PlayStation.com logged out I see the GT7 anniversary bundle at $39.59, 57% off. In the PlayStation app when logged in I see it for $29.69, 67% off. Is that dynamic pricing? The base version is only $23.09 for me in the app.

Maybe an extra 10% for being a Plus member?

This is interesting. I am seeing identical prices when logged in and logged out.

however, Ghost of Yotei's digital deluxe edition is on sale for me for $59.99 but i dont see a sale on it when logged out.

whats even more odd is that the standard edition is not on sale for me.

Another reason to ditch consoles. It just keeps piling up.

Hopefully Sony does get forced to at least offer digital codes at retailers like everyone else. I think they are the only platform holder that doesnt allow it.

Does anyone know the reason why they stopped? apart from greed?

I asked my friend who only plays CoD to check his price for Astrobot and he also sees $40. Is anyone in the US here actually seeing a $26 price for Astrobot?

This is the first I have heard of dynamic pricing. Kind of fucked up to charge two people different prices for the same item...

Sounds like it's a good thing the vast majority of my PS5 games are physical and I'm gonna keep buying physical. Let's see them try to do "dynamic pricing" on physical games

Provided this is legal in your country, I struggle finding a reason to be mad about this. I'm trying my best, but it all falls flat in the end when I realise we're talking about video games.
When negotiating rates with my clients, I'll sometimes give a €300 rate to a Polish client, and a €500 rate to a UK one, simply because I know one has more money and is used to paying more 🤷‍♂️.

They were doing reverse promotions before (with higher price for long time users).

It seems Sony wants to make peace with me, I have lower price when logged in:

I don't understand how Poland is still not in the euro zone despite being the hottest financial place right now

You have to remember that Valve gets nothing from third party code sites. And it's probably worse for publishers too since there appears to be (deliberately) no controls over regional pricing.

I think physical is safe for now, but this is probably just one other reason companies will want to go fully digital in the future… basically the fact that they have dynamic control over pricing

I hate this shit because I've decided to go fully digital a couple years ago

You find nothing morally bankrupt about that?

If I was a mechanic and charged a woman $500 for a car repair and a man $300 for the same repair, is that repulsive to you?

If I was selling food and a black person got a plate for $5 but white people had to pay $8, is that offensive to you?

Side note: This is the kind of shit you see when your competition (Xbox) gives up and you have a monopoly.

If I find out that I am being charged more than the next guy on a digital product I am not spending another dollar on the platform ever again.

I have no problem spending money, I bought a Switch 2 and and spent well over $9000 on 100 games or so in just over 1 month. The money isn't the problem, it's the principle.

Digital scarcity isn't a thing, this is just corporate greed and I won't be a part of that. I already cut off Microsoft about a year ago when they started their egregious pricing strategies.
