PS Store prices aren’t the same for everyone anymore — Sony experiments with dynamic pricing

Yeah I get that it's a bit gutting to not get picked for something good like this trial, some even get picked and sent out free codes, same with betas I don't get picked for but I don't necessarily feel that screwed by it. I understand the feeling and sympathise.
it's more than 'a bit gutting' when a corporation you've supported for decades (& which, in all that time, never pulled any crap like this) does this. it's more like a slap in the face, & so my response is just to pass on ps plus till this time next year, when maybe i get lucky. all of which ends up benefiting who, exactly?...

You and the corpo in the end if it pans out. Those lucky ones in the trial define the price elasticity curve and if a lot of people buy at the lower price (making a low gradient price elasticity curve) then it's encouraging to "pick B" and make that the regular price for everybody while increasing the corpos overall revenue/profit too. Win win. Your own reaction to the trial notwithstanding ofcourse. if everybody got upset and simply quit because some users were picked randomly in a trial then I guess we're all doubly screwed because that would not have the effect it was intended to have.

i'm sorry, but this's some serious 'consumers as lab rats' rationalizing. 'all you gotta do is be patient & wait for your windfall!'. & where my own response = 'rats not behaving the way we anticipated.' if nothing else, you've managed to make me smile... 'remain calm. this all makes perfect sense. seriously.'... smh...

What's there to be sorry about? I mean yeah, we're all lab rats in that sense if you mean that they do trials and demo programs on consumers to see how the market reacts and what they should do. No doubt about that.

Whether the majority of control (status quo) "rats" don't turn green (with envy, pun intended) during it or not would also be important I guess. It might backfire. this particular trial is for lower pricing and seeing if sales increase enough. so not a bad trial to be in and might ultimately be good for all the "rats" that were the 'control' rats paying normal prices (depending on if the other lucky rats responded well). As a "rat" I'll personally just be looking at the other rats and hoping they responded well to it so I can get the same just like medical testing too but if you're pissed about missing out right now then that's understandable.

You gotta be patient and maybe you'll be lucky, right now the AI model for the PS store is trained by Sony using the data set from Concord sales, when Marathon comes around I'm 99.999999999% positive the data set interpretations will go something like "oh sh*t, we're really f*cked!" at Sony HQ.
