Interesting.

In my time as a personal trainer, I can tell you that if someone ever did that walking backwards on their toes while kicking bit on a treadmill, I would have basically had to tell them that the movement is extremely contraindicated, and obviously very dangerous. No trainer would ever even allow you to do that around them for fear of litigation when they inevitably get hurt, but hey, if it works then that's awesome.

Just goes to show, there's a world of difference between how someone trains when they're training for combat and nothing else versus training for muscle only. Interesting stuff.

Yeah but really any punch will beat any kick any day. Even more so when you are leaning back waiting.

Are grabs not allowed in that sport or why is no one grabing her leg and just send her flying judo style ?
Because the Olympics has been running judo year on year and the sport has no leg grabs anymore.

Rant aside, this is K1 which is a kickboxing comp

Not really. If you can't get in punching range, which is what she's expertly doing to her opponents, then good luck trying to beat her with a punch. She'll just toy with you all day until you end up flat out on the mat, all fucked up because you ate a a left foot to the noggin.

Imagine being the opponent and making a complete fool out of yourself in front of everyone because you have no plan b how to react to that style of fighting

I remember she went viral after the first fight against an ex-world champion because they told her what she was trying to achieve was meme-ish. Seems to be working fine.

No way, kicks are stupid in any real fighting. Knees are good. But kicks are so slow that you can take a hit from a kick and get in close for a grab or hard punch.

So how do you counter this within the rules of the sport? Grabs seem forbidden so...be aggressive and Dempsey Roll that kick?

That looks very cool from athletics standpoint and makes sense if there is no grappling allowed in the competition.

I don't think the approach would fly in MMA, jujitsu, or similar sports though.

This event was K1 so its kickboxing.
No grabs no ground game, youll notice once the opponent went down they reset.

Assuming both fighters arent trained then yes, keep your feet grounded.
If you know how to throw a kick then the calf kick has become one of the most valuable tools in everyone's toolbag cuz its fast and after like 3 or 4 you dont even have to worry about getting hit cuz your opponent isnt going to be able to generate power anymore.

She seems to be more than just a 1 kick trick Pony though.
3-time All Japan Amateur champ and you can see in some of those clips she mixes up the kick with punches. If she can develop techniques to use the other leg as well, she might be a contender for K1 champ in Japan.

With only 4 bouts against opponents that she outclassed, it's hard to tell.

I disagree... Keep them low and aim for the legs/stomach. Or sweep. Timing and economy of motion is critical. Very rarely can you kick higher than waist level. Although it's possible with someone who doesn't fight much.

Sometimes the YouTube algorithm actually provides some benefit. This chick has been popping up on my feed for months out of nowhere. And I'm not complaining.

Her pointing down at her opponents when she knocks them down is hilarious.

She's the real deal. A would-be bully might regret meeting her in a dark alley.
She might be a badass but gravity is undefeated

One leg means zero leverage and zero leverage means she's going down

A light breeze could take her out in that stance, let alone a 200 pound thug

She probably walks on both legs, but I guess she could be hopping around on just one all the time.
