More expensive than what I expected, but the double touchpads and TMR joysticks do make the $100 price justifiable.
Same, i'm still using my old XBox 360 controller, if this Steam Controller will be a success i'm definitely switching. My xbox controller is getting scruffy, might have to pick a new controller soon. This could be the option
What type of sticks does it have?
Edit: TMR. Nice, then yeah it might be worth that.
But this is the standard model right? That seems very expensive. Whereas those in comparison are premium controllers.
The point is the standard Steam controller offers more than the premium Sony and MS controllers for around half the price.
So Dualsense is 75? I thought they were 90 for some reason.

No audio channel or output no buy.Just watched the video... yeah not for me dawg. Looks cheap as hell, back paddles have been made into buttons and look and likely feel cheap. No interactive triggers, same cheap as plastic I mentioned before thats used in all their products. Very sad by this as those track pads are valuable, and the price isnt bad. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll make a Steam Controller Elite for those who want a quality feeling product.
This is crazy given the cheaper but better alternatives out there. 8bitdo or Gamesir are both well worth a look. If you want more find the controller thread where you will get solid advice and recommendations.I always go alternate: Xbox -> broken -> Dualsense -> broken -> Xbox -> broken -> ( right now I'm here )
So my next controller is a Dualsense ( sterling silver looks gooood ).
It's not that I'm against Steam, it's just years of playing on those two, which are just so comfortable for me, especially the Xbox.
I've honestly never got stick drift on any controller since 1995 until I got the duelsense pro and 2 sticks went. I could replace those though.DualSense get stick drift though. 3 of mine did.
NoAnyone know if the Steam Machine is bundled with a controller or not? I want the controller regardless but I don't need two.
When?Remember when controllers were like $20
I think GameCube / Dreamcast controllers were like 30 or 40? I'd have to check, I still have a couple new with stickers. When?
I dunno but I'm the UK I've never known a first party controller since the N64 onwards to be less than £30. In fact I'd say they've always been a lot more!I think GameCube / Dreamcast controllers were like 30 or 40? I'd have to check, I still have a couple new with stickers.
Yeah, not sure about 20 at all. Just citing what I think.I dunno but I'm the UK I've never known a first party controller since the N64 onwards to be less than £30. In fact I'd say they've always been a lot more!
When?
6th generation. The DualShock 2 was $25 I believe and the GameCube controller was $20.I think GameCube / Dreamcast controllers were like 30 or 40? I'd have to check, I still have a couple new with stickers.
I wish this info was easily accessible (accessories launch prices in different regions) - the Game Cube was available for as low as £129 according to Google so I'm really curious as to what the pad cost.6th generation. The DualShock 2 was $25 I believe and the GameCube controller was $20.
Edit: I think I was wrong. I believe the DualShock was $35. I did find an old IGN link stating a MSRP of $20 for the GameCube controller though. I wasn't even 10 so I wasn't old enough to remember personally.
Okay so after a little digging I finally found this link from IGN which is like a guide to the GameCube launch in the US.I wish this info was easily accessible (accessories launch prices in different regions) - the Game Cube was available for as low as £129 according to Google so I'm really curious as to what the pad cost.
Nintendo GameCube Controller (One included with GCN) Nintendo 11/18/01 $34.95
Separate Controllers in North America will be available in Jet, Indigo, and Spice at a suggested retail price of $34.95.
But in a disappointing move that may reveal the financial loss Sony is taking with each hardware unit sold, SCEA explained that the price of three peripherals, the Multitap, the Dual Shock 2, and the 8MB Card, will each cost a hefty $34.
It was 99 USD for the console for a bit. I bought one of those with the Zelda Collection bundled at 99. I think cleared out even hitting 49 USD.I wish this info was easily accessible (accessories launch prices in different regions) - the Game Cube was available for as low as £129 according to Google so I'm really curious as to what the pad cost.
80 and 200 controllers with no hall effectsStandard PC Gaming prices amirite![]()
I tried 8bit, it's too small for my hands. Gamesir idk felt weird, kinda cheap. I don't know, I'm a simple controller person, I just pick either Xbox or Dualsense and it's fine, these controllers are all-rounders just like say an iPhone or EarPods or Macs, you don't have to choose much, just buy and it'll be good in all areas. I'm not looking for the best. This is crazy given the cheaper but better alternatives out there. 8bitdo or Gamesir are both well worth a look. It looks like a block with tacked on touchpads and grips.Damn it is uglier than n64 controller.
