Redditor Makes Sony DualSense USB Dongle for Wireless Haptics, Adaptive Triggers, Speaker and full functionality on PC

You basically buy a PICO 2 W from Amazon for like £7 then a micro usb data cable for £4, flash firmware which is plug it in and drag a file into the pico (5s), sync dualsense to it AND done.

I can not believe its this easy and Sony in all their infinite wisdom couldnt release a dongle for PC that does this.

I ordered it yesterday and set it up in 5 mins before a work call, works flawlessly.

PSA : No your DS on BT is not giving you actual haptic feedback , it is impossible with one band of Bluetooth, you are currently getting dumb rumble with adaptive triggers. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE HAPTICS ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND SPEAKER FUNCTIONALITY ON NATIVE BLUETOOTH.

This solution fixes that and is effectively an unofficial dualsense dongle for PC.

Awesome, the only issue I'm seeing is that the haptic and adaptive trigger data isn't in the PC versions is it?

So I'm not sure how different this is than 3rd party software like DS4Windows which gives you dumb rumble and customisable triggers wirelessly, and it can emulate a DS5 as an Xbox (or even DS4, which is needed for some games like Flower to work gyro natively) controller too.

Can this do all that stuff? If I'm having to program the triggers for each game manually then I wont be doing that, I can do that with DS4Windows and others.

Edit: Github is not helpful in answering my questions but googling which PS5 games support haptive and triggers I see the point of this is to get that through wireless and not just USB, thats great for PC users.

For me almost all the PS5 games which came to PC and could potentially look/run better there and would benefit from this are kinda broken so I'd just play on the PS5.

Great for PC only users though, I'll stick with DS4Windows until it breaks because its an all in one solution and means I can just do a simple check when I run a new game to see if it supports DS4 or DS5 and if not revert back to XInput emulation.

Oh shit, this is great. My elites are finally giving out and can't get a steam controller in my region so this comes at a great moment.

Thanks for sharing!

the PSVR2 was a flop and they had to find a way to shift all the surplus stock.
I get that, but this would be easy money for selling more PS controllers. It's not like it would hurt the console sales, unless Sony thinks hardware features should be exclusive too.

I thought the DualSense connected to the PS5 via Bluetooth. I Google-d it to see if it was 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and it said no, it was Bluetooth. So if the PS5 can use haptics via Bluetooth then why not PC?

How is the audio quality and range for controller??

Its using a proprietary quad band Bluetooth.

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense. It's a shame really because I always preferred using the DualSense on my PC via Bluetooth to avoid the need for another USB dongle and it connects instantly and works pretty seamlessly except for it not supporting haptics!

Yeah I just tried Cyberpunk, BF6, Pragmata and all work incredibly well, its fully featured.
I just ordered one and a case for it. It will arrive on the 14th.

Really looking forward to use the Dual Sense on PC. I've tried other solutions but I don't want to lose any features.

Because Bluetooth on Windows doesn't natively support the 4 channel audio required by the Dualsense.

yeah, kinda retarded at this point.

Especially given other Playstation accessories like their pulse headsets have wireless dongles that work on PC.

Yes, I don't want to have the raspberry just hanging bare
Macs have supported full Dualsense features over Bluetooth since the Apple Silicon transition

Must be nice.

Can someone do an idiotproof video guide for this including links on what to buy?
Sorry, no video but look exactly for this board: https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/Rasp...7-N1-TQnBbFUTLToa5kZQ-9_DtIjEERxRaw1Ujw-I5oto

your buying the PICO 2 W
V important it's the W version as it's Wireless.

this is the UK listing.

And any standard Micro USB cable just make sure it can handle data.

Idiot proof guide:

1. Download the files from the GitHub

2. Hold the button on the PICO and whilst holding it, plug it in (this makes it a storage device)

3. On your PC it will pop up as a usb stick , drag the downloaded file to the PICO

4. Put dualsense into pairing mode, it will automatically sync to pico

5. Try some games, make sure steam input is OFF for the games you know support Dualsense features ex BF6, Sony games, F1 ETC

Thanks, friends. Seems easy enough. I'm looking forward to actually being able to use the Dualsense wirelessly with full functionality.

On one hand I want to try this out, Pico 2W is super cheap and this looks easy to hack but another me is saying just buy an Xbox controller, pop in two eneloops, connect to the PC, switch off the vibration and play all games flawlessly.

Haptics, adaptive triggers and similar stuff were cool first time, nice the second time, alright the third and then you just turn these off.

If you are not into these features you can use regular BT, either integrated into your mobo or with a dongle. That is if you like DS over Xbox. Otherwise use Xbox and forget about it.

Seems like a clear-cut decision to me.

I'll get DS because my previous one was Xbox and also because I will have the option to modify/hack this with a Pico later if I really want those additional features. Sterling Silver looks really good.

Smart choice IMO

I'm looking forward to use it but won't receive it until the end of next week

This is damn amazing. Going to order the stuff tonight!

Edit: Really good idea on getting a small case for the board as well.

Saved for later. I would care a bit more if the PS5 controller didnt have really shit stick drift. Fuck Sony.

Very interesting. I'll have to look around and see if this works with Dualsense Edge too. Right now it's barely compatible with most games out of the box, forcing me to use DS4Windows and keeping it wired.

Anybody in here try it out with the Edge?

Yes I set it up with the Edge works flawlessly.

Sony made a USB dongle for the dualshock 4 which I own and was great so I'm baffled as to why they didn't make one for the dualsense.

Brainlet here, why can't I just download the files straight to my PC? And have to buy the Pico 2 W?

Dunno , don't think PCs usually have the quad band simultaneous BT antenna that the PICO does?

I think it's hardware based rather than software.

I imagine most BT in PC is dual band for L and R on headphones? Dualsense needs 4 as the rumble is audio based. Something like that I recon.

Have you had a chance to test it more? Does it work exactly like using the DualSense wired on PC? You don't lose anything?

Been using my DualSense wired on PC for a few years now and it boggles my mind Sony never launched a proprietary dongle. They even had the gall of releasing a PC branded DualSense a few weeks back without a dongle to connect wirelessly. Playing wired is so fucking backwards.

Yes it works exactly like it does wired obviously I haven't exhausted the testing but yes it's wireless and full featured. 1khz polling rate too

Pc version have all the haptics and triggers data cuz you get that if you play with the DS wired on PC. Adaptive triggers work fine by BT, the haptics are the ones dumbed down to mimick just normal rumble instead of the haptic feedback they give when wired.

Bought the Raspberry Pi and made one for myself. It's cheap, stupidly easy to set up and works like a charm. Tested it back and forth wired and wireless with the Pico and it doesn't seem like you lose any functionality or quality (if anything is degraded I honestly couldn't tell).

If you value the DualSense's features it's a no-brainer.

So I've been using this for the last few days and it works really well. Seems to be more compatible than DSX and I don't have to change profiles on my Edge to get it to work in different games. The one problem I have is that only a single DS can be connected at a time, so swapping between two like I've been doing is not as smooth.

This is definitely the way to go if you are going to use a DS on PC. Steam support sucks, DSX is touch and go and it looks like Sony will never fully support their own hardware, so this is as good as it gets.

I received mi Pico 2 W yesterday and did the process. It took about 5 minutes. Didn't have a lot of time to test so I just tried Returnal.

It's the Steam version so I had to disable Steam input for it to work properly or it was my impression.

It works flawlessly. No disconnects, no lag, full feature set. I'm thinking of building a few and try to sell them in my community.

Does anyone know if Crimson Desert has full DualSense support? Didnt' have time to test it and found conflicting info online.
Brainlet here, why can't I just download the files straight to my PC? And have to buy the Pico 2 W?
It's not built to be executed by PC but by the actual hardware (Pico 2W). It makes the PC believe the controller is connected with a wire. It's like a bridge.

I don't know the reasons Windows doesn't support it natively (Full featured wireless DualSense) but it seems to be related to the way audio is handled (and therefore haptics).

What's the difference of using the controller via BT and this? BT has worked great for years, for me at least. Genuine question.

On pc? Yes without haptic feedback, trigfers and speaker. This allows all of that wirelessly which was only available wired.
