When I got the Pro on launch I was fading out of gaming with all the micro transactions pushing nonsense and yada yada.

We had a house fire and my gaming PC got it, so I was just using the Pro and my Odyssey OLED ultrawide which it never supported I think.

Anyway, my son had upgraded my 12900k and 3090ti with a 9800x3d and 5070ti I believe, so when Sony raised the prices, I just went back to gaming on PC and every move they make have been just pushing me out of their ecosystem I've been in even though I've had gaming PCs since the 980 GPUs with my son.

So, now I set here with Crimson Desert on my PC on my ultrawide having a blast and I believe I won't be purchasing Sony again until they show a shift in narrative. I just can't keep using my wallet saying it is ok as my grandchildren game on my PS5 regular and they will have to move to PC also.

The game is freaking crazy looking by the way cranked up and cinematic or something settings.

End of a long ERA being our families main consoles since PS2, stinks.

Man I have 16yr I left pc gaming. Only playing on Playstation since then but Sony is doing a good job making me wanting another PC. I have owned all the Playstation.

Would love to see games media stop playing the access media game and start doing exactly this every time something new is announced.

He's not wrong, all the money burnt on these failures has to be recovered somehow and it's not going to be through good management and actually delivering what they used to do best

Don't be surprised if they rise the price again after another wave of failures in the pipeline like failgames and that horizon gaas trash with the butch landwhale Aloy

Do you guy want to know why they only increased the monthly and 3-month plans?

You can do the math on their network revenue and subscriber count. But PS+ is like 85-90% Annual plans. So on paper this hike doesn't make sense. More people will just get annual plan now.

But if you assume the end goal is to cancel the annual plan as a defacto one big "jumbo" price hike, then this hike makes sense.

80$ / Year => 11$ / Month (132$ / Year)

The big question is if Sony can keep their 45~50M of PS+ subscribers at the new rate.

If you think she's going for low profit margins and no growth, IDK what to tell you.

It's just very hard to survive the memory price correction when your hardware is mediocre.

Yes, but if they want to upgrade to Pro (and they didn't do that when console was cheaper, for various reasons) or their old console dies - they will have to pay the new prices.

And now PS+ is also going up, increase for a yearly subs will probably also happen before GTA6 launch. It seems that this game is the perfect excuse, Sony can literally do anything before it launches and people will eat it up.

I wouldn't personally replace a PS5 or buy a PS5 Pro when PS6 is launching in 1.5 years.
Yeah, cannot argue over PS Plus.
 
Paying for online multiplayer access using servers the dev pay for, but Sony takes a cut anyway has been a scam since Microsoft started it.

That he is. Talks disingenuous when plenty of multiplayer games don't have big cheating problems, Game Pass is a better value sub than PS+, and thousands extra in upfront cost only exists if you are paying for hardware that gets you a better fidelity experience.

I keep thinking about how detached from reality we are. For how many quarters have we seen Sony posting better results with subscription services? If I'm not mistaken, that was even one of the highlights of the last fiscal quarter.

We complain and show outrage, meanwhile people keep subscribing, paying as usual, and even constantly upgrading their subscription tier.

What Microsoft did with Game Pass will never happen with Sony and Plus because, by some kind of magic, the company seems immune to any irresponsible decision. Unbelievable.
 
This is getting ridiculous. All I want is to play a couple of games online and to have cloud saves. I don't need the 3 "free" games per month or anything else. I might have to play free to play multiplayer games and live without cloud saves going forward.

That kind of attitude is why everything is a subscription now. Hell even my air conditioning repair guy and car washes try to get you with a subscription now. It's financial death by a thousand cuts.
