The Subnautica 2 CCU right now...

Is this on Gamepass? I watched the first game as a walkthrough, expecting it to be like Alien Isolation but underwater, somewhat tense atmosphere while you are being pursued by the freaks of nature in terms of underwater creatures, but I never felt that while watching it

Women don't like attractive women
I don't think this is totally true. What's much more true imo, and I feel kinda bad saying this, but it's just reality, is unattractive straight women absolutely hate attractive women.

Take fashion events for instance. Those have always been aimed at attractive women who can maybe also pull off wearing those clothes, and a few recent exceptions aside, the models are mostly attractive women.

That sounds good, I was wondering what kind of progression it had. Valheim has clear progression through the various biomes and the entire thing is procedurally generated so a large part of the fun is simple exploration. But Enshrouded is a static map but significantly upgraded combat and traversal.
Honestly, if you like exploration, mystery and old school adventuring (taking notes, figuring shit out yourself), this game is amazing in my opinion. Also the soundtrack is great and it can be kinda fucking scary for not being a Horror game.

It's another wake slop

Played for a bit, it's definitely good. So far 100% identical to the first though aside from obviously a different map and a bit more refined visuals and mechanics.

The natural order:

SP finds and hones a genre.

MP moves in and takes over when the genre is adequately unearthed. Subnautica 2 placed a lot of resources into MP design, but it will not usurp Rust, DayZ, or Ark Survival Evolved which all cater to PvP design more.

I told my Mom that Guerillas MP game should be a PvP survival game back in 2018. Anyone can ask her. Instead, we got Hunters Gathering for some reason.

AAA avoids this lucrative genre like the plague...
She said she doesn't remember that conversation at all, but that you've always been an imaginative boy.

She also said she needs more cigarettes, and that there's a twenty on the counter.

That makes me really want it.

Is there lots to do in it right now? I've never bought anything early access so I don't know what to expect

Like I said, couple of hours in it's identical. Craft a knife (it's now an axe), be wary of the poison plant, craft some flippers, find audio logs from perished crewmen, craft a scanner. It's kind of wild but not in an offensive way, it doesn't feel copy-pasted.

No idea really how long the game is in its current state.

Can you go pretty deep already?

I like the game, but the fact that you can't kill anything (except grab small fish) is super-weird to me.

Nah, not being able to kill anything made the first two games much more terrifying and fun to play, so I'm glad they stuck with that.

I swear I killed more than a few creatures in Subnautica...
you can kill everything (including leviathans) in the game with the basic mechanics in the game. , but it does not reward you for the effort.

that said, the game is designed around not killing anything but animals for food (until you can grow stuff yourself)

Subnautica is special. I actually just got into it blind. It hits the wonderment strings a lot in equal measure to the fear that everyone talks about. Really good game

Killing leviathans is rewarded by having free reign of the map since they don't respawn. I killed all of them.

Just finished the story. Super fun, can't wait for more.

Just got the metal farming print, have some plans of doing a big ass base around the alien building
I hope you have at least 1 more Troilite left. Me and many others are stuck, because we finished the story and don't have 2 more for the metal farm.

I really hope they tweak the thirst and hunger rates because it feels like I'm constantly having to stop make food or water.
The game already has several ways to deal with that. Through the unlockable passives, you can adjust food and water and with the garden bed you can mass-produce that plant that can be used to craft both water and food. The garden beds cost almost nothing,

Question is, how FAR are we from an actual complete release of the game, are we looking at 2030? Meanwhile I have just started checking this out:

I have no doubt the game is good, but damn, I wouldn't pay to beta test a game.
That depends on the circumstances, or at least it should. In this game, there are virtually no game-breaking bugs (in my experience). Everything more or less works as intended.

The "beta" in this game just means limited content, not frustratingly broken features.

Playing the game now, it looks awesome. The water tech is superb

Is Sea of Thieves water dethroned brother? That is looking nice.

I keep thinking I should try these one day. I'm terrible at survival games though, I always manage to die because I did something stupid or was too lazy about keeping up with something, then I just get bored and go play MegaMan X for the 800th time -_-

Well if that's the case then it's a GaaS game in disguise. Not sure if that's much better. The only upside is games are a little cheaper while in early access compared to their completely developed counterpart.

I have to admit, that's how I think about early access in general. Has nothing do with Subnautica 2 specifically. I just never cared for the idea and also think it's not the best move for gamers considering how easy it is to leave your game in an unfinished state while getting money. Star Citizen being a good example.

Anyway, a little more on-topic. First game is the greatest horror game I ever played considering my fear of depths, vast oceans and giant creatures in it. Hopefully this game will become (even) better on it's true release.

I don't get the appeal of this game even though a lot of my friends played the first.
You kind of have to enjoy crafting, farming, free exploration, and having almost no guidance. If you do, the game is amazing. But if you prefer detailed tutorials, linear levels, being constantly guided and getting tips the moment you stand still for 30 seconds, you probably won't enjoy a game like this.

Watched a couple of hours...the game seems too chill, there is barely any danger around and when you encounter one, they are super easy to avoid, where is the suspence or sense of danger?

Early on there is little danger, but once you start diving deeper and further out from the landing area you encounter plenty of danger in a myriad of ways. That's one thing the Subnautica games have always been brilliant at, incorporating fear and danger without actual combat or killing mechanics. I mean the first one is still one of the most terrifying games I've ever played! The game conditions you to the point where sounds alone can trigger full on panic, that's how good the game is at doing it. 😎

That's why I somewhat enjoyed watching the first game as a playthrough, as it was never on my radar to begin with...I was half thinking it might have been like Alien Isolation but under sea...that 20 minute playthrough from IGN caught my interest in the game, again purely from watching it, but I am gathering the actual release is still some way off?
