That's a good point about IPFahdis in the past when did they call games they didn't even own the IP for first party? Even Patapon, which was made by a third party studio mostly, is owned wholly by Sony. It's only in modern times when multiplatform matters so much that Sony's been willing to settle for timed exclusivity and not owning IP. Obviously they wouldn't have to settle for that if they were making their own games in Japan, but they mostly aren't.
The main point still stands, then, that Sony's Japanese game development arm has been gutted, which is why they've got almost no Japanese-made exclusives :/
I enjoyed 2018's GOW game and Returnal looks decent at least, but I haven't played that one.How lomg has it been since Sony Studios released a good game?
Nothing else will get a look in unless it under delivers, and I seriously doubt that will happen.GTA IV didn't win overall GotY.
I mean it's sold like 90+ million. Clearly plenty of people are buying it. Maybe if Xbox had exclusives they could crack 40 million. What single player exclusives ? They only have like one game every year , no one is gonna buy your over priced console to play one game a year
Lmao, oh for fucks sake bro. Please for the love of god dont fall for corporate shenanigans. Im not the authority, it has been like this for decades.
1. First Party: Owned IP, Inhouse Dev Teams
2. 2nd Party: Can be Owned IP contracted to a developer who works closely with the Publisher, Publisher does not always own IP but does give and take on Exclusivity on their platform ie Quantic Dream. Usually the Publisher moneyhats developers to just release games on their system.
3: 3rd Party: Contracted, not inhouse dev teams, system agnostic, can be contracted to work by Publisher on a project
Yes, which doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't first-party. And keeping up with DS2, what about it then?
actually, nvm. still, not sure why do I have to believe you. "it has been like this for decades", who decided it?
All of these games (PS5 demake of Demon's Souls aside) can be emulated. With image quality and performance that exceeds the console versions.![]()
Sure, would still be cool to still have PC-ports for some games, well, mainly Demon's Souls. Would have loved some proper ICO/Shadow of the Colossus(already exists)/The Last Guardian remakes/remasters on PC aswell.
But as a PC-player I will manage.
Show me. Also, aren't Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft the industry as well? The industry itself.
Returnal is by far the best thing they released on PC.I enjoyed 2018's GOW game and Returnal looks decent at least, but I haven't played that one.
exactly so it doesn't really matter what PS is doing. All of these games (PS5 demake of Demon's Souls) can be emulated. With image quality and performance that exceeds the console versions.
returnal was good and ao was GOW. Those games are years agoI enjoyed 2018's GOW game and Returnal looks decent at least, but I haven't played that one.

Ye I know, but would still love to see some proper ports and have em' on my Steam account. All of these games (PS5 demake of Demon's Souls) can be emulated. With image quality and performance that exceeds the console versions.
Third party is moneyhatted. Second party sure as hell isn't.
Aside from God of War PlayStation first party's always been good about creating new IP for new concepts. Gran Turismo obviously hasn't changed up the concept much so it's continued from PS1.Where the fuck is killzone? Infamous? Resistance? All these recent boss mam lead craps is enough. Can't even release a game like saros without all this crap shoved in, a game that basically doesn't even need a cahsracter background.
Fuck you and your fat fish market sniffing aloy.
It's not about any other publisher, Rolito was the artist behind the game (most designs were already made before the game existed) and Interlink their management agency. They used to be copyright credited on every single material related to the IP, which meant that Sony didn't fully own it.nial I can't find anything about another publisher for Patapon other than Sony. I guess one of us would need to fire up the actual game and take a pic to know 100% for sure though
Show me. Also, aren't Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft the industry as well?
Third party is moneyhatted. Second party sure as hell isn't.
what are you talking aboutIndeed. And now you have major players like Steam and PC platforms come in. So they start crying about marketing "exclusives".
what are you talking about
didn't even prove anythingI rest my case.
Yeah I'm pretty sure yurinka isnt gonna be in that group hug
didn't even prove anything
We are still going to do that man.and complaining about games they didnt care enough to buy a PS5 for
Sure it can be, in most cases it's very directly a big publisher courting a developer to make a game for them.
Ai Slop straight for you.
I don't know which is worse. This, or PS users glazing over mediocre slop and calling it the best thing since sliced bread, simply because its E X C L U S I V E.Good. Tired of reading threads with PC Steam glazers port begging, and complaining about games they didnt care enough to buy a PS5 for, as if they're entitled to play everything just because they spend over $3000.
show me the industry saying any of thisbla bla bla bla
who the fuck cares about what chatgpt has to say, lmaoHahahaah, even AI knows Publishers are full of shit now.
C'mon man, you're splitting hairs. By that definition every game that uses licensed music can't be fully owned by a game publisher either. You're telling me that the Grand Theft Auto IP isn't really fully owned by Rockstar/Take Two because they license music in those games. It's not about any other publisher, Rolito was the artist behind the game (most designs were already made before the game existed) and Interlink their management agency. They used to be copyright credited on every single material related to the IP, which meant that Sony didn't fully own it.
uncreativename uhh, bother to explain that reaction. as far as I'm aware, most games don't put the name of their artists on the copyright legal notice
Still makes no sense to call second party moneyhatted imo.
Stuff like silent hill 2 remake was moneyhatted for example which is 3p.
I think they've sold almost 100 million to "no one."What single player exclusives ? They only have like one game every year , no one is gonna buy your over priced console to play one game a year
Even if that were true the relationships were at one point strong enough they shopped their games to Sony instead of another publisher. Those 2nd party titles are really what people remember the PS1 to PS4 for when you really examine it.![]()
My brother in christ, ever heard of Quantic Dream? Its a 2nd Party Output. The devs are not Sony owned Studios. Its just marketing.
That because their competition is also shitting their bed , they became the console of choice by default but this might change next genI think they've sold almost 100 million to "no one."
Third party. A game were sony is just paying money to have it timed console exclusive or something is called moneyhatting.
show me the industry saying any of this
who the fuck cares about what chatgpt has to say, lmao
Patapon was developed by PYRAMID Inc. with Character & Visual Design / Art by Direction by Sebastien Giuli (aka Rolito). It published by Sony Computer Entertainment.
Patapon 1+2 Remastered was developed by sAs Co., Ltd., and published by Bandai Namco.
I don't know who this information helps, but there it is.
It's not that Sony decided to use "2nd party", it's that all publishers consider anything they publish as first party content as they retain control over its publishing rights.Sony decided to stop using "2nd party" for marketing reasons and some people have really eaten that up, even though it dilutes our ability to discuss the games.
you literally cannot separate patapon from its art, and only rockstar games is included on the copyright notice of GTAV:C'mon man, you're splitting hairs. By that definition every game that uses licensed music can't be fully owned by a game publisher either. You're telling me that GTA 5 isn't really a Rockstar game.

Oh, so NOW you believe Sony? The funny part is that this goes against what you previously said:![]()
Sony Clarifies the Difference Between First-Party, Second-Party, and So On

Now you're gonna ask who the fuck Shuhei Yushida is now?![]()
"So, when games are made by a developer, [even an] independent developer, and published by PlayStation, we call them first-party games."
The old games wouldn't lend themselves to the new camera system well. Part of the reason for that over-the-shoulder camera is to facilitate the interactions with the Leviathan Axe which obviously isn't present in the older games. Furthermore, the pulled back camera allows for a much wider field of view and better crowd control. This makes it so the original trilogy has some huge fights with a dozen enemies at once on screen, something that is rarely if ever seen in the new games and when it is, it's insanely frustrating because of the limited FOV. I do think the combo system is significantly better in the newer games though. However, the trade off is there are only 3 weapons per game, with the fists having been made effectively obsolete in Ragnarok.I'm replaying God of War III right now and... I just don't see anyone on the planet able to touch this stuff in this day and age. This is the most extreme game ever.
It would review below 60 today, we'll have wild headlines and outrage even outside the gaming circles.. maybe even devs arrested for fuck sake.
So now matter how optimistic I am, there's just no way it won't be heavily sanitized.
On the other hand, while surely fun and immediate combat is so insanely basic and simple compared to GoW 2018. I'd love to play these games with the new systems and camera.
