PlayStation plus prices going up starting 5/20

I don't think PlayStation executives play video games tbh. So raising the prices comes easiy to them, even though they shouldn't do this for this tier and should consider lowering it instead.
Price alone is not the issue but the service have been shit for so long now.

Weren't they recently bragging about this being their "most profitable generation ever"? Nice way to treat their loyal fanbase!
Did you now only realise that these corporations see you as nothing more than money? So many people are fooled into thinking these companies give a shit. So many think because PlayStation etc. are their bros. because they post some shitty
cringe shit on twitter etc. These companies want your money, if you don't have money for them, then go get fucked, is their philosophy

I'm wondering when players are finally going to push back and tell them to fuck off with their wallets. I've always felt that paying to play games online that you have purchased to be ridiculous, even when it was £40 a year for Xbox Live back in the day.

If we go by history, we learn that we never learn from history. People will keep paying regardless because that's how dumb we are a species. We are suckers for punishment, large amount of us will even ask for more punishment.

I had this discussion with my best friend a few days ago. There can't be another species occupying this planet( at least ones where we can reasonable observe and comprehend their behavior/habits) that does so many things against their collective best interests.

The feeling is mutual. I will reject a product that I've been purchasing for years from a corporation without thinking twice if a competitor offers a better alternative. I will not give a shit about all the people and their families that depend on that corporation paying their salary.

It's a transactional relationship which why fanboyism is so stupid.

Couldn't have said it better myself

That should have always been the case, but these companies lean into the loyalty thing hard to create these super-fan types who self-identify with these brands, who think these mega corporations are your friends. Every single action these entities take, EVERY SINGLE ONE, is rooted in what works in their best interest to continue securing your money.

I guess for me, having grown up a teenager in the 16-bit era where I owned and enjoyed both SNES and Genesis about equally while witnessing idiots get into literal playground fights about which was better, I never bought into the console wars bullshit.

Ongoing market conditions? you ship your online membership through the gay hormoz shit around Iran, you fucking thieves ?
Inflation my dude. That's what it has to do with it. That stuff spiked inflation even if it appears unrelated it decreases the value of money and everything gets more expensive.

Back then we didn't really have that kind of thing. Some people had Nintendo, some had SEGA. On school trips everyone just had fun together with their Game Boys and Game Gears, there wasn't any of this rivalry mindset.

The first time i really noticed it was during the PS4/Xbox One generation, where people started zooming in 10x on every tree and bush and doing screenshot comparisons just to trash the weaker Xbox. Maybe it already existed before that, but that was the moment I realized what fanboys and console warriors are and how pathetic and annoying they can be.

We didn't? We must come from very different regions because the whole 'console war' thing pretty much started with Sega vs Nintendo in the 90s.

DF started zooming in on trees during the PS3/360 era. That was when that shit took off.

It's not a drastic increase but the value for me has gone down.

3 years ago I played a lot of the PS plus games (essential) but nowdays it's pretty poor. I guess the next tier is now the quality of what essential used to be!

Says they will continue to negotiate with suppliers for memory to meet demand and will minimize the impact of rising memory costs in 2 ways:

1. Prioritizing monetization of the current install base

2. Further expanding their software and network services revenue

Sounds like software and services price to increases on the Sony platform…
And here we are…

What happens when you've got about as much market share as you can and the market doesn't seem to be growing? Figure out new ways to cut your costs and squeeze every last dollar you can out of your customers so you can announce record growth next quarter and the next and the next ...

It's a meme (like the Xbox tax)
People argue PS is rising prices to make up for the money lost due to GaaS and Woke.
So I post what the CFO said early in the year, which has come to fruition and you post a bunch of random Twitter people. Obviously you are right. Well continue supporting your GAAS and woke agenda tax by continuing buying PSPlus then since you say that's what its for.

Uh?

I think you are thinking your post is like the truth or somehting. I'm just saying that "Tax" MEME is just the online discourse to keep mocking Play Station for their falied GaaS initiative and wokeness.... It's negative PR.

Looks like it doesn't affect yearly subs... yet anyway. Days of Play should start next Wednesday (the 27th), hopefully there'll be a decent deal on a yearly sub, otherwise I'll have to drop it.

Considering this price increase only applies to new customers, it comes across as a maneuver to encourage them to buy the annual sub. Then there's the upcoming GTA 6 release which will undoubtedly cause a whole bunch of people to buy the console and subscribe to play online. This will capitalize on those people.

I won't rule out that we're paying for those failures, though - maybe we are with either this or in other ways. It's hard to tell without a look into Sony's decision-making process. Aside from that, it's good to see people speaking up about issues with their games. It's something Sony really needs to hear.

We really didn't have anything like that. Not with the C64, Amiga, etc. either. Back then, you also weren't flooded with games the way you are today. So we were just happy that different people had different systems. I always thought that was an internet problem where every bored loser runs their mouth.

In the 90s It was all about SNES Versus Sega. Most of the kids I would meet or hung with had SNES, but you had a few that were Sega fanatics. I didn't hate for real, but during our childish debates, I shilled hard for Nintendo. Lol. Looking back, Sega was Sega, no matter the system it was, till the Saturn came out, that is...

Man my schoolyards had total video game debates over Nintendo and Sega. It was every freakin' day. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

As I said, I've never experienced it, and I can only imagine it as a childlike, friendly "my dad is better than yours" kind of thing on the playground.

Not some completely pathological behavior where people spend countless hours hating and bashing and comb through the internet for every tiny negative snippet just to post it in the hope of annoying the owners of the other plastic toy.

Am I right in assuming you're from the Uk?( basing that question off the consoles you listed).
