Can someone explain all these plotholes I am missing out on? The one I got is China, but that is explainable. It hasn't been one day yet.

Of course, since the season isn't over they may address these but here's a list so far off the top of my head. Some of these aren't plotholes but just stupid things that happened that haven't helped the plot.

- The chinese don't know that Jack is alive even after all these attacks and Jack being on the most wanted list for murdering palmer
- Someone found out about Jack being alive but they never said who
- Hey look it's Kim.. Hey look she's even more useless than in season 2.. hey look she's gone
- Tony gets blown up and put into a coma ... a dozen episodes later he wakes up and DIES right away. Wtf was the point of that, killing him off with michelle would have been better
- Why'd they kill off Michelle and Tony.. still waiting on this one
- Jack ruins that GERMAN agent's cover that he's been on for 6 months, destroys the list he gives him and the guy just dissappears... still waiting on this one
- They were planning on using the nerve gas against russia, thing goes wrong so they decide to use some of NERVE GAS against the states. They somehow manage to all these elaborate schemes in under a day as well as get blueprints from the gas factory.
- If the president is really the bad guy, why did the vice president ask for martial law?
- If the president is the bad guy, what about cummings

I'm sure others have more

So far my season rankings are:
1 > 4 > 2 > 3 > 5

5 was between 4 and 2 until a few episodes ago

Edit: guess what i fixed :p

As for how the bad guys found out Jack was still alive:

Did no one watch the prequel included in the Season 4 DVD set?

Six months before the start of Day 5 Chloe contacted Jack to let him know someone had hacked Jack's autopsy report (probably Henderson) and found out that it had been altered by Chloe. The bad guys have known Jack was alive for a while.

Does anyone have the preview or know where i can get it?

It's not like they're going to broadcast to the world who they're targeting as the assassin. This would show weakness to other countries, as to how can this fugitive be on the large.

- Someone found out about Jack being alive but they never said who

Season 5 prequel on the S4 DVD set.

- Hey look it's Kim.. Hey look she's even more useless than in season 2.. hey look she's gone

They had trouble finding a replacement cougar?

- Tony gets blown up and put into a coma ... a dozen episodes later he wakes up and DIES right away. Wtf was the point of that, killing him off with michelle would have been better

It was meant to show the difference between Tony and Jack. Tony loved Michelle above all else, and since they had no children, he had no more reason to live.

Jack has Kim. Kim needs Jack. Now, that is no longer the case as Kim has both a boyfriend who can fill out the fatherly role as well.

- Why'd they kill off Michelle and Tony.. still waiting on this one

Because they knew Jack was alive. They orchestrated his "death", so if Jack was to blamed for the death of President Palmer, then they would cause problems by speaking out about it.

- Jack ruins that british agent's cover that he's been on for 6 months, destroys the list he gives him and the guy just dissappears... still waiting on this one

German agent. Most likely a lead-in to the movie.

- They were planning on using the nerve gas against russia, thing goes wrong so they decide to use some of nukes against the states. They somehow manage to all these elaborate schemes in under a day as well as get blueprints from the gas factory.

There is always a contingency plan. :)

- If the president is really the bad guy, why did the vice president ask for martial law?

Because the VP really did want to save lives?

- If the president is the bad guy, what about cummings

Cummings took his orders from someone else. Henderson is the only one who knows Logan is the mastermind.

the only big plot hole to me at the moment seems to be the motivation of the terrorists. they completely changed thier plans and went all out on the US and managed to do it rather easily.

as for the others, esp about logan i bet it gets explained.

the "german" agent....what do u want him to do or expect him to do?

koam said:

Again, as far as I am aware, they only circulated Jack's picture to the authorities. They're not announcing to the world that Jack's alive, so it's quite natural that the Chinese haven't gotten wise yet.

- Someone found out about Jack being alive but they never said who

Agreed, they have to explain this.

- Hey look it's Kim.. Hey look she's even more useless than in season 2.. hey look she's gone

I have no problem with this. It makes sense for Jack to call in Kim and want to see her, and it makes sense that she just can't deal with Jack being alive right now.

- Tony gets blown up and put into a coma ... a dozen episodes later he wakes up and DIES right away. Wtf was the point of that, killing him off with michelle would have been better

- Why'd they kill off Michelle and Tony.. still waiting on this one

because they knew Jack was alive.

- Jack ruins that british agent's cover that he's been on for 6 months, destroys the list he gives him and the guy just dissappears... still waiting on this one

German agent. And what do you want? For the guy to go on an immediate vendetta and hunt Jack down? That would just be stupid. He got played by Jack, but he knows he lost this round.

- They were planning on using the nerve gas against russia, thing goes wrong so they decide to use some of nukes against the states. They somehow manage to all these elaborate schemes in under a day as well as get blueprints from the gas factory.

Nukes? Are you even actually watching the show? Personally, these schemes are more believable than last season, as the terrorist plans do seem somewhat more desperate and makeshift.

- If the president is really the bad guy, why did the vice president ask for martial law?
- If the president is the bad guy, what about cummings

Agreed, these need to be answered.

Boogie and Spike already answered all the questions Koam raised, so...yea. I still think this season is great. There's still plenty of time to wrap stuff up.

And about Tony, they originally were going to kill him with Michelle, but then decided to do that whole retarded scene because they felt it showed the difference between him and Jack like Spike said. I agree he should've just died in the first episode.

Hey guys, navigate back a page and read my post instead of repeating the mantra of "WTF CUMMINGS AND LOGAN HOW COULD THAT BE?!?!?!?!"

Well...DAMN!

You got Solid Snake Bauer AND Sam Fisher Palmer in one effin episode.

I think you've got it the wrong way around. Sam Fisher Bauer and Solid Snake Palmer. The way Jack snuck up on that guy, grabbed his mouth, and shot him from the back is a Fisher move.

Palmer just fucking standing there waiting for the guy to turn around and then take him out is pure Solid Snake.

What a kickass episode!! :lol

Team Kojima & Ubisoft need to voltron together and make us a 24 game.

:lol :lol :lol

Playable Characters: Jack Bauer, Curtis Manning, and Wayne Palmer.

As for how they knew Jack was alive:
In the S4 extras they have a preview for S5 and in it, Chloe meets up with Jack because when she was looking through his Autopsy reports she did something that alerted suspicion so she went to tell him and ended up being followed

Yup, that's also why Henderson told Jack that he and his wife were watching out for Kim upon learning about his "death."

Henderson wanted to know if Jack would make contact with Kim.

I don't get all the people talking about how little sense it was for Nina to be bad..that was revealed in like the 3rd episode of season 1. Or are those people talking about why didn't Jack put more faith in that and went with her as an ally all season?

yeah the thing where logan yelled at cummings in private made no sense...esp if he is behind it all.
Because Logan as the President doesn't want ANYONE (even people he's working with but really not) to know what he's really up to. Cummings killed himself probably because he thought he exposed his true self to the President. A President who he also thought was a good man who would likely end up exposing Cummings for who he is. But in reality, Logan knew everything that was going on. It's not like he knew Cummings really well, so he's not going to trust him with his secret.

Or did he?

DUN DUN!

EDIT -
It's not like he knew Cummings really well, so he's not going to trust him with his secret.
He didn't? In Season 4, Mike mentioned that Cummings had been doing Logan's dirty work for years.

Er, yeah. Either way, Cummings had no idea Logan was in on it. He either killed himself because he felt worthless OR Logan did it because Cummings fucked up.

Well, based on the way they talked to each other when Logan pretended to be so shocked at what he attempted... it's quite obvious that they don't trust each other THAT much. Logan gave him the whole "you are a traitor to this country" speech and everything. He pretended to crack under pressure later, but the fact that Logan is in on it as well clearly didn't even phase Cummings.

well then this "ur a traitor to this country" speech didnt make much sense. at any rate i believe that will be settled in the coming episodes.

Logan is probably being impulsive about the whole thing -- IF he murdered him. Meaning, he wasn't sure what he was going to do about Cummings, so he still played the game as if Cummings would stay alive and he had to keep his cover from getting blown.

985boi: I highly doubt it.

Anyway.

I read this about Chloe on Wikipedia:

Chloe's near total lack of social skills leads to speculation that she may have Asperger syndrome, a pervasive developmental disorder commonly referred to as a form of "high-functioning" autism. Individuals with Asperger's are considered to have a higher intellectual capacity while suffering from a lower social capacity. Fans of the show debate whether this is an intentionally complex performance or due to a limitation of actress Mary Lynn Rajskub's thespian prowess.
Uhh.. really? She seems like your typical anti-social computer whiz. Nothing THAT unique.

Oh... since I am new to the series, a question about Chappelle:
They gave him the silent clock... and from what I read it seems like he's not some evil character, so why did they kill him exactly?

Just watch Season 3. Telling you what happens would be robbing you of one of 24's greatest moments.

this twist does make more sense than Nina's, FOOLS. Go back and rewatch the shows knowing Logan's "the man"

I mean, 1st episode, the phone call that Mike gets telling him Palmer is DYED. Look at the facial expression Logan makes over his shoulder! LOOK AT IT!

When he says "Oh my god" with shifty eyes and almost a smirk?

I don't think Novick had anything to do with it.
At least Logan probably won't be President next season.

i have no idea what's going on with this season's plot anymore, but that whole infiltration sequence really makes me wanna play a stealth game. :lol the 24 game seems pretty bad...maybe i'll try syphon filter psp.

Yeah the whole thing with Cummings and Logan at the start of the season really seems to screw up this whole thing with Logan being bad.

I'm calling bullshit.

Just wait until I review this season on DVD so I can point out all the plotholes and why Logan cannot be the ONE.

yeah, others have said it, but it needs to be driven home. Do not ask, do not try to find out. just go watch it.

:lol I said "They just went GRAW on their ass", during that piece.

Who knew Chloe could double as a Cypher?

HOLY CRAP.

What an ending.

+Bauer / Palmer teamup in the field is something I definitely approve
+Wayne Palmer is cool
+Reflection on the loss of David, THANK YOU WRITERS
+Holy Shit
LOGAN
+Bauer death count increases :)
+Bauer survives gas refinery explosion LOL :lol
+Aaron Pierce is cool

-WTF stupid stupid Evelyn, I wanted to punch her for hiding the info for so long

GREAT episode. Really enjoyed it.

Heh, so I'm not the only one thinking about tactical shooting games during that scene? I so wished 24 The Game was handled by Ubisoft or a better developer :|

Do you guys think Mike Novick has a hand in this as welll?

No, definitely not. He has no reason, plus the worst he's done has already passed in season 3. He's a good guy.

I started entertaining the idea of Logan being bad, but man, to actually have it pulled off...yowza.

Poor Buchanan. I really liked that guy, and I sure hope that this isn't his exit.

On the other hand, that slime in CTU that wanted Audrey to sign those papers...I just wanted her to throw them back in his face. I can't wait for Jack to introduce his fist to that guy's face.

Palmer is one cool dude, I was worried that he'd lose his edge in the heat of battle, and when he waited to pull the trigger I was gettin' nervous, ready to declare -10 for Wayne, but then he waited to shoot the guy while he was looking at him, so now he gets +100. Awesome.

Overall, absolutely awesome. This season continues to deliver, easily the best of the bunch thus far. :D

I don't like the whole logan evil thing, but I'll give thema chance to pull it off.

Something else, let's hear it for Evelyn. She took those 2 bullets like a pro!

Why would I see a prequel on a boxset for a show that isn't as interesting to watch a second time? That shit should have been on the previously on for the first ep this season.

All I want to say is that this was, IMO, one of the best episodes of the entire season. I felt like last week was horribly disappointing, but this week was outstanding.

SpiderJerusalem said:
What was wrong with asking that of the show? Its just something I've wondered about every week.

Just giving you a hard time.

It's all about the marketing; people see season 5 preview exclusively on season 4 DVD, so they buy it. :)
