Well I can't argue with how satisfying it was when I did accomplish it

Allard said:Well I can't argue with how satisfying it was when I did accomplish it, was a lot of unneeded frustration in my life though lol. (Also was a total noob then too. We beat the snoll batttle with me accidentally entering the damn thing as a tank with MNK subbed on a PLD lol (it was underleveled too!) but somehow despite us losing 4-5 times before that... we ended up beating it when I made such a horrible mistake. Was an awesome feeling). Now whenever I play with my old friends and we have issues, they tell me to go hop on my STILL underleveled MNK sub as a joke.
Yeah, using a mouse in this game is laughable. It seems like everything has a massive square binding box, so you end up selecting your character instead of whatever is a centimeter over your shoulder on-screen.neoemonk said:FF XIV is kind of fun, but it has the worst targeting system I've ever seen in an MMO.

Well instead of assuming you could read this thread and even the Official one and see that it has been improved quite a bit.onemic said:So hows the game now? Still a pile of shit I assume?
I think it's a different team now.Ultratech said:Then again, these are the same people who unleashed an incomplete game on us to begin with...so we'll see.

Adding subscription fees back into the mix definitely won't be popular. Haven't people been playing for free for close to a year now? (I forget when they scrapped them.)

That they are doing:animlboogy said:This is painful. They have no business charging monthly for this game until 2.0 hits, and that needs a free month for old players as well.
Between October and December of 2012, we plan to integrate the current service and the coming PlayStation®3 version into the all-new FINAL FANTASY XIV. At this time, a second free trial period will also be offered.

Allard said:How FFXI does it now is perfect. Can't equip a piece till you are high enough to equip it, but you can scale it down for level capped stuff and still be useful. Your right it did suck initially though, I'm one of the few that went through CoP unnerfed in a static party ><.

They've changed the mechanics behind it. I haven't run into it as a problem recently, though maybe some other players could shed more light on their experience with it.Bazhard said:My question is, is it going to have that like 8 hour experience cap? if so it's going to be a complete and utter failure AGAIN.
You cannot put an experience cap on a MMORPG, it defeats the goddamn purpose of an MMORPG, to grind your way up as fast as you can, whoever thought an EXP cap was a good idea needs to be blacklisted from the gaming industry because it's quite possibly the stupidest fucking thing in the world.
Not including 1.18 and 1.19, this site has you covered: http://ffxiv.zam.com/wiki/Updates_(FFXIV)onemic said:Only asking because I'm actually interested in playing it. Unfortunately SE hates giving out free trials. Anyone have a buddy pass they'd like to use on me?
So the bazaar system is fixed then? What has been improved since launch that made the game broken?

Good, because that system was beyond retarded.Reallink said:Far as I know they completely removed the "8 hour XP" cap (or fatigue system) in one the past updates.

That's not actually Kain from FFIV though. They are just using the characters' names + titles for show. lol.Zeal said:OK, that shot of Kain from FFIV actually fighting with you....
...that's pretty serious. All I can say is, we shall see, Square. We shall see.

Guild Wars 2 has effectively killed any interest I had in other fantasy MMORPGs. However, I will say that screenshot is extremely hot. If the game ends up being good, I might just get into it.
Subscription fees, though. :\
I'm saving this for when XIII-2 and Type-0 come out to great reviews and success.KiteGr said:[*]It also has "Final Fantasy" on it's name.
In the past this series was a prime example of Japanese RPG's done right. Then FFX-2 came and show us how bad a shameless cash-in could look like. Then FFXII came and introduced us to a scenario about politics and a bureaucratic system. Then FFXIII came and it gave us a taste of how boring a game can be when it plays it self and offer no variation in activities other than "moving forward".
So now that the J-RPG popularity has dropped "Final Fantasy" has become the definition of "Bad"... and they are about to release "Bad Shit 2.0"...
.
You hold the phone HAN SOLO. GW1 had 7 million accounts afew years ago, so i'd imagine its over 10million by now or close to it. Logic says GW2 would do similar or better numbers. Can SWTOR do similar numbers, especially being a P2P MMO? i think not.Moaradin said:HOLD THE PHONE. You think GW2 is more popular than SWTOR? Major laughs.
Anyways, I don't even hate FF14 in its current form. I had a pretty good time playing with a friend. It was a disaster day 1 though but I'm cautiously optimistic for 2.0
I beta-played SWTOR from a friends house and we both came to the same conclusion.Moaradin said:HOLD THE PHONE. You think GW2 is more popular than SWTOR? Major laughs.
Actually I believe GW2 will do at least X2 better than GW1 because it plays and looks like a game that got everything right, including innovation.Gez said:You hold the phone HAN SOLO. I'm happy you speak for the great majority. Nope, not some internet minority. Oh and fan-bots, what cheerfully negative name. Yes I really will have to take you seriously. And I like how there's apparently few of us. Do tell how you measured this one? What poll did you take?KiteGr said:SE lost their good name around the Final Fantasy brand, as they mentioned them selfs, and only a few loyal fan-bots remained.
That's why SE has to do a little more to impress us now...
