Also thoroughly enjoying this, especially Ep 1 and Iskandar's general badassery. Certainly looking forward to how this all shakes out and if they can keep it this lively then I hope they just keep on making prequels and whatnot with different historical figures until the end of time---slim to NOTHING else this season is doing anything for me and this would still be blowing the doors off even in a strong one.
Ah okay I forgot about that, just figured the part in episode 5 where
He's referring to Saber as his virgin maiden meant that they had some connection, was Bluebeard even a magician? Thought he was some kind of serial wife killer

Gilles de Rais (Bluebeard) was accused of being involved with demons and the occult. I guess that's where Urobuchi/Nasu got the inspiration for whole Cthulhu monster thing from.
Here's an interesting note: In episode 5, there is a credit for CG Modeling Assistance going to Katsuyoshi Miyajima. He's a Japanese freelance CG modeler who has worked multiple times with Square Visualworks on FMVs for Star Ocean 4, Final Fantasy XIV, the Deus Ex Human Revolution trailer, and Final Fantasy Type-0.
That certainly explains why Berserker looks so good, and is a cut above the usual "anime CG" type of modeling.
I was going back through each of the episode previews so far after something in Episode 6's preview caught my attention. Naturally I don't pay too much attention to those since they're appear to be nothing but meaningless CG visual effects with voiceovers at a first glance, but I found that those visual effects reveal a lot more about the episode than the voiceovers themselves.

Preview shots are out for ep6. Something looks rather off with both Saber and Kayneth. The animation director for ep6 is either not as sharp, or his style does not show off well in stills at all. I love that screen of Kiritsugu with the crowd in the background though. I hope the episode still looks great in motion...
My current show of the Season, wasn't always a fan, episode 1 made me a hater(worst first ep ever) but the fantastic episodes that followed shattered the darkness and filled my soul with light.
Fate zero ep5
-Beserker theme's great, nice entrance making gilgamesh look like a chump
-didn't like the cg find it hard to make out all beserker moves
-Rider best character in the show
-has saber noble phantasm not been show yet?? or does her invisable sword just do charge move(getsuga tensho)
-I don't like where this going with saber focus with blue beard, lancer, assasin and berserker all after the least interesting servent saber
Predtiction
Lancer already dead since saber needs to deal with him before she takes on the other servants, his going to have one those shounen happy death with a smile and a speech before he dies.

It's a shame that it's obvious that he's going to die considering the focus that Saber is getting in the show as somewhat of a main character above the other servants, gotta kill him off before she can properly use that sword!
Felt like this information was too good to not share:
Regarding censorship in upcoming Fate/Zero episodes:
<duckroll> there was a Ufotable event today
<duckroll> they spilled tons of production beans
<duckroll> expect signification censorship in the next 2-3 eps
<duckroll> for the TV versions
<duckroll> they're going to have to move the camera to the wall and pillars
<duckroll> and they're not showing any children in the scenes at all
Regarding deleted scenes / extra scenes on the BD
<duckroll> they also mentioned scenes which were cut out for time in previous eps, which would be restored on BD
<duckroll> ep2 has an additional Ilya x Kiritsugu scene (we already knew about this)
<duckroll> ep3 will have more Iris x Saber at the airport
<duckroll> ep6
will have Archer and Kirei having an additional conversation
<duckroll> ep7
will have more Iris x Saber conversation, and something about Saber confronting Kiritsugu
Regarding other edits for the BD
<duckroll> they're also redoing some animation for the BD version
<duckroll> ep1 will have 90 cuts or so redone
<duckroll> ep2 and ep3 have about 10 cuts each
Regarding the work that goes into making Berserker look like good CG:
<duckroll> they also talked a bit about Berserker
<duckroll> apparently the animators and the animation directors have to prioritize all the Berserker action scenes in advance compared to other scenes
<duckroll> because the heavy CG works involved means that it takes 1 day to render just 2 cuts
<duckroll> the process of how Berserker is animated goes like this
<duckroll> keyframe animation -> corrections and refinement by the animation director -> CG creates the scene on top of the animation -> the composite/photography team processes everything
<duckroll> Berserker in ep5 was animated by Masayuki Kunihiro
<duckroll> Masayuki also animated some of the Saber/Lancer action in ep4.... i think probably the ones before the OP
Gilgamesh is pretty cool like this, but Ugh I hate that type of censoring, camera facing the stupid wall, Ryuunusuke needed more screen time.
Blowing up the entire building was pretty intense. Lancer's master and women conversation and the Gilgamesh conversation was pretty cool. For a servant, I think he has a memorable and interesting personality. I have a feeling Caster will be the first servant eliminated, which is a shame
This show really rocks. I really can't believe I went from laughing at it before the season started, to a huge fan. I find pretty much everything about it completely compelling - the characters, the setting, the situations, the direction of the plot, the drama, etc. The high production values definitely don't hurt, and I'm really impressed with the dialogue and overall direction of the scenes.
I really like how Gilgy can talk about something else and lecture Kirei about it rather than how awesome of a king he is.lol As for Kiritsugu,
I honestly thought Maiya was there to snipe Kayneth but instead he blew up the whole building, but then again if managed to crash a whole plane just to kill one person I dont see how a whole building could be any different.
Anyway its good to see Caster and Ryuunosuke back but I uh didn't expect to be seeing a lot of walls.lol

It has gullwing doors. It's not a roadster. The one in Fate Zero is a normal SL with roadster bumpers. This is an unforgiveable travesty and I'll never watch this show again.

Oh my goodness, I didn't even know there was an OT for this show. I love this show soooo much. Quality is absolutely amazing and one of the best I've ever seen in a while for a TV show.
I loved ep7. I love every Fate/Zero ep. I don't consider seeing characters I like interacting with each other being a "waste of time" at all. The one thing I love most about this series is how much room they give characters to breath. People can sit around and talk about stuff, instead of just being rushed into fights with less meaning and purpose just for the sake of action. The build up and atmosphere in the scenes are always great.
Man, what a terribly painful way to end the episode. Is it next week yet?
Nah. I find the non-action scenes just as interesting if not more so than the action scenes. If this was just an action anime, I wouldn't even be watching it.

Don't get me wrong, I love the serious toned non-action scenes, but the Rider segments with his Master are just plain goofy. After all the plotting behind the scenes to one-up other Masters and Servants, we're brought back into "animu" level territory where Rider is buying clothes from the Shopping Channel. It just reeks of filler to me, but that is just my own take on it!
I guess I'm just foolish to demand 100% seriousness from each and every episode, or maybe I don't understand the meaning behind the Rider segments at all.

well, so far (only four episodes in) it's not bad, but not really that good either.
But I don't know, I kind of want to see it before Fate/Zero, although people told me it isn't really necessary.
I don't know much about FSN at all except the two episodes I watched way back really, really sucked and I voided everything else related to it for a long time! ^^
There's not really anything about the FSN anime that will help you watching this. There's stuff in the VN that fleshes out certain things, but that's mostly in the last route, and playing through a 50+ hour VN to watch this is a bit much.
Good episode, but I am kinda disappointed in how they handled the scene with Kiritsugu's battle plan before Caster showed up. In the novel, Iri
see's for the first time her husband's Magus Killer personality, to which the Einzbern's hired him for, and it caught her completely off guard, shaking her a bit, wondering about her husband's identity. This does make their scene together outside much stronger, as Iri see's his breakdown and realizes that he truly is no longer the man he used to be, that its more of a mask now than it was then.
From what I remember, the scene with Father Kotomine suspending the Grail War to go after Caster and his master happens after the scene with Rider getting his mail order package.
Also very minor nitpick in the tech being used such as the laptops being more modern than the way they used to look back in 1994.

Currently rushing through Fate Stay Night just so I can watch this.
Can't wait, really, it looks so good.
You are technically spoiling yourself, as Fate Zero is a prequel to that series/visual novel and the wars consequences are being felt in the 5th Grail War.

IMO you really did yourself a disservice duck, it was a good series that did get me into Typemoon, and the last battle's climax was one where I did find myself cheering.
To give you and Grzi a bit of background, the anime combines elements of the three routes from the VN, Fate, Unlimited Bladeworks, and Heaven's Feel, though the overall story background is the Fate route(though that route is my sentimental favorite, most fans will tell you Fate is the weakest of the three routes, as its main purpose was to expose you and get you to know the characters before going into the bigger stuff in Unlimited Bladeworks and Heaven's Feel and the changes Shirou goes through in those, as he and his worldview alters more with each route). Studio DEEN did drop the ball on more than a few things (the hardcore FSN fans will tell you EVERYTHING was bad, but...::shrugs: but it was still a good story all on its own, however I do agree that the VN are much better.

No. Stop. Stop right now. Please. I don't want to know any background about Type-Moon shit. I don't care. I don't want this thread to be about any other Type-Moon crap other than Fate/Zero. If you people insist on wanting to discuss Type-Moon stuff outside of Fate/Zero, I will leave the thread and desubscribe it. I am only interested in watching Fate/Zero because I like the characters and the story in it. I've hated every other Type-Moon written product I've seen, and I hate all their characters. I'm sorry but if you cannot respect that, then maybe I'll just excuse myself from this thread from now on.
