The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

But that client, no matter how well optimised to stream the tech, is still at the mercy of the underlying transfer technology right? If the wireless quality degrades (for any number of reasons) that has the potential to impact the quality of the visuals and/or gameplay experience?

Just thinking out loud really, not sure I have much interest in the tech personally.

Impressed with the LoA:A trailer, but got burned badly on the hype of the original so I'll sit this one out. I haven't been keeping up with Vita news at all, but I think I'll preorder the first edition next month and maybe pick it up alongside Uncharted and has Gravity Daze* been confirmed for NA launch?

*I refuse to call it Gravity Rush

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed as a launch title.

What I'm saying is that I would envisage whatever you're interacting with on the Vita, would be rendered and processed by a piece of software running locally on the Vita, not on the PS3. The vita side of things doesn't have to run on PS3 and be streamed over to Vita, so the question of wireless streaming and its quality doesn't arise in that case.

Anything relevant to what the PS3 is processing would be communicated one-way via bluetooth (i.e. same latency as a DS3).

Wouldn't be too surprising, but I wouldn't take it as confirmed yet. 'Launch' there might mean 'launch period/window'. Would be great if it is day-one though.

we are less than one month away from japan launch. i'm hyped.

even though I wont be able to get my own until february :(

I have had mine paid off for months so I feel your pain. So are Uncharted, LBP, ModNation, Hot Shots, and Wipeout all confirmed as launch titles in the States? That's a pretty awesome lineup and I need to start saving some extra cash if so.

i read from my local magazine who interviewed sce asia head, the cpu is clocked at 1.2ghz and the gpu at 250mhz or there around, cant remember clearly as i was browsing the magazine stands

LBP won't be making launch. I suspect they might be holding off on that for the holidays.

One of the few systems that has games I want to play at launch. Actual new games. Last time I bought a system at launch was a snes for FF4. Unfortunately my gf will be living with me and it's past christmas and my birthday so I don't know if I will be able to get it for a while or not.

Shinobidou and gravity daze for me stand out for me but I'll keep an eye on the other ones as well.

the studio expansion has to do with VITA development i think.

Any news about UMvC3 having cross platform online play. I assume the game won't have the feature as it is a launch title, hopefully SFxT has the feature then.

As with any launch of new hardware, prepare yourselves for scaled back or missing features. In the case of Vita, I have a feeling its going to be cross platform MP.

This is game specific I think, they've already talked about it at length on 2048 including in a recent Q&A with the PS Blog (I think, I've definitely seen/read something recently). There's no way that's going away.

Of course it's game specific, and that's exactly what I'm saying; I have a bad feeling that the number of devs who were committed or took the time to explore the idea will dwindle. I hope it proves to be popular for the first games that implement it, otherwise no one will take it seriously.

Confirmed at TGS that it has cross-platform online play.

The PSVita launch lineup is so ridiculously good. Like wtf.
Yeah, it's actually crazy. Uncharted and Wipeout would be awesome titles to be released at any point in a systems life span (well, I'm guessing with Uncharted and assuming it'll be great), let alone day one launch titles with everything else.

Makes the 360 launch look mediocre as hell.

Yeah, the US launch is one of the biggest wallet crunching launches in a while. Uncharted, LBP, Wipeout, HSG, Gravity Daze, Katamari, UMvC3, etc... forget buying a ton of them, finding time to play them all will be the hard part.

what's worse is that those are just Vita games. Resident Evil 3DS is coming out a week before the 'week before' Vita bundle'.

I'm probably just getting Gravity Daze and Uncharted because of the time crunch, but the Vita definitely has the best launch line up since maybe the Dreamcast.

For launch, I would get Uncharted, Wipeout, Ridge Racer and Lumines. But I don't have enough money :S

It's game specific, but Sony provides the libraries to do it without much addtional effort.

Vita has wifi, but PS3 too. Multiplayers in games where the players play at the same time will use wifi only.

3G won't be used for normal on-line multiplayer at the same time because it has too much latency. It will be used in cases like turn based games, to download ghosts in racers, trophies, messages, web browsing, etc.

I thought it wasn't confirmed and they were looking into it for Street Fighter x Tekken.

Actually, I looked back at the announcement and yeah, no cross-platform for launch. Just crossed it off my list...

According to this post by Sven it isn't possible for launch titles for third parties? That makes no sense, why would Sony do it for their first parties but not allow 3rd parties to do it? ...

Does anyone know if the vita will have some decent pc software around this time?, media GO is the worst way to use the PSN store on PC, it's just bad.

got a mail from SCEE today with a competition to win a trip to Japan for the launch of the Vita, and a Vita.

Its interesting that Sony Europe is hyping the Japan launch and (I assume) giving away a Japanese Vita. They don't seem to have a problem with the region differences which is good news.

The fact that Play-Asia are now given the pass to ship games to Europe, I'd say Sony has seen the light.

I think invizmals could blow upon the vita, at least in Europe I'm sure that's going to be the system seller. it did pretty good numbers on a dying system and required a hardware addon all of thse problems will be mitigated with the release of vita. I'm expectig an explosion if thy get the word out correctly.
Novarama just released their 3rd Invizimals for PSP. Reality Fighters is their debut in Vita, and as I remember they confirmed their next Invizimals is going to be for Vita.

MediaGO 2.0 is a little bit better but the store is pretty much the same on all platforms :(

Also Vita will have a special program for PC, PS3 where it will help you store and copy data but i don't know if it has a store. And i don't know while they would abandon MediaGO as they are trying to make it an universal program for phones, media players, playstation and tablets.

Edit: Dat HSG!

Uncharted Vita with crossplay would be the greatest thing ever. Make it happen Sony Bend/Naughty Dog!

What would Uncharted: Golden Abyss crossplay with? It doesn't have a multiplayer campaign.

Don't listen to that man's lies.

Why is ModNation Racers getting top billing over Wipeout 2048 >=[

I myself am looking forward to both games, but Wipeout 2048 a little more. This probably has to do with Wipeout being an older, time-tested franchise that I've been playing for years, and this one's going to have a great deal of new content along with cross-platform multiplayer with Wipeout HD. I got Wipeout Pure on the day of release along with the PSP, and I intend to get Wipeout 2048 at the PS Vita launch as well!

I enjoyed ModNation Racers as well, on both PS3 and PSP (got the PSP version through the "Welcome Back" deal a few months ago). The Vita game looks like it might be the best version yet, with the ability to use content that's already been created for the PS3 version. It's shaping up to be "the PS3 version and more" on a portable, which is very appealing for this type of game. Ironically enough, that's also the reason why I might wait a little longer to pick up MNR on Vita--not sure if it will be offering as much "new" content compared to something like Wipeout 2048.

What would Uncharted: Golden Abyss crossplay with? It doesn't have a multiplayer campaign.

No, but I think he's wishing that it would.

The launch line up is strong for this system, I am so tempted to get it at launch, but I must resist or else I would be too broke.

Uncharted, WipeOut, UMvC3, Gravity Daze, BlazBlue are what I have my eyes on. And of course the future line up seems hot too with games like LittleBigPlanet and SFxT.
