Were you the SK that was complaining about Drow Ranger trolling on purpose? I watched that game :D (whoever was playing SK's name was Archie)

Last game I played was with Drow. Maybe I was complaining about me trolling. inceptiondog.gif

How often do you guys play together? I wanna join the group but dunno how active you all are, although i think youd be playing often :)

We actually inhouse fairly often around 8-9 PM EST. I usually try to post announcements on the Steam group when we are getting games set up.

Just had the worst game ever, i took Anti-mage and a buddy of mine took Witch-doctor, we're doing good (i got up to 7-0) BUT aside from the fact that the other team's Night Stalker is fed almost as much as me around the 25 minute mark the game turned into a 5v2. I mean literally, everyone on our team disconnected.

Yeah i remember, but still. No one was even playing really bad except a guy who was complaining about lag (and got out as soon as the server said it was possible to disconnect without ripercussions).

Ugh, been busy as hell yesterday. Can't wait to get home and play Dota 2 all weekend.

GAF games, perhaps? I need to play with some other newbies. Bots are kicking my ass. :(

Add me (Steam id tehspookeh) I could do with few games tonight.

Alch any good then? He's the first hero in a couple of weeks I've been interested in.

I like him, but I prefer to play him as a farmer hero since he can farm very quickly with a soul ring and maxed poison spray. His ultimate is spammable and gives you huge mana and hp regen, so that in conjunction with soul ring means you'll never run out of mana or hp when farming in lane (unless you get heavily ganged). Vanguard, Radiance, Treads at 20~25 minutes is veeeeeeeery scary. Only thing is that he kinda sucks against Ancient Apparition, because AA's ult completely nullifies his ult.

chinese farmers can do that in 18mins :P

Played a few games with fellow Gaffers, lost all of them but it was fun. Too bad that there are
so many leavers.

What are your objectives in terms of farming? Meaning if you go mid or carry how many creeps do you expect to have killed at the 10 minute mark?

depends on the game/hero, your ability to last hit creeps and how much support you are given

I asked around and most were saying if you're staying in lane and just farming 150 cs should be your goal by 20 minutes.

My only objective is to eventually get my items, and the best way to do that is to get some kind of farm and not dying.
Sometimes I have to play extremely conservative if my lane is hard, and other times I expect to get on average 3.5 last hits per wave.
I guess my expectations are a function of how hard my lane is and how the match up balance is (e.g. early game heroes vs. late game heroes).
After you've played a large amount of games as a carry it's not really that hard to feel if you're doing as well as you're supposed to or not.

EDIT: Also, does anyone know how to open up the stash? I got griefed by an arrogant Viper player on my team who decided to steal my scroll while it was in the fountain and stashed it.

It's not shown in the control menu so I figure someone must know.

Would like to know if anyone has an answer to this, would really like to avoid being griefed again like that if possible.

It's not possible to open the stash unless you have something in it. Items that would go in the stash bought outside the base will instead fall on the ground.

i'm able to buy items through the hero and they end up in the stash

The only reason I'm asking is because I watched him take my scroll into his stash. I would like to be able to do the same so I can avoid being griefed. Or is there no way to safely switch out items without making yourself vulnerable to your own team? I know in HoN there was a toggle for friendlies being allowed to cast potentially harmful spells on you although I'm not sure if that applied to your items.

Oh for something like that, there is no protection I believe, it will be a grayed item in their inventory, and I don't believe you'll be able to retrieve it unless they disconnect. As for teleport scrolls, they have no ownership so if you pick up an allies it becomes yours.

For Switching out items, I've been using the floor because the stash doesn't appear until you buy something, possibly just buy an Iron branch with a full inventory and never sell it?

The stash works..

-if you're in base
-AND if you have the 6 item slots already full
-AND if the next item you buy doesn't auto-combine with existing items you have
->then the next item you buy gets stored in your stash.

Oh I didn't understand what you meant by "Through the Hero" I thought you were talking about some meta shit.

Watch > Recent Games and then apply a Filter. Then click the game, download replay and then watch replay.

You can also download replays and play them with playdemo from the console, but it doesn't always work for me.

Edit: It seems to be random when replays are available, and sometimes you need to search a few times as it returns no results.

150 cs by 20 minutes is very difficult if you're not freefarming and don't have open lanes to tp to. A very general number to go by is 50 cs by 15 minutes and 100 cs by 30. It's a good number to aim for, especially for newer players. As you get better, and depending on the hero you're playing, you can get even more (such as Shadow Fiend, Furion, Morphling, and others).

ALSO PUPPET YUBER, STRAIGHT FROM THE DOTA HERO PAGE FOR HUSKAR:

Sacred Warrior
Burning Spear
Notes
• Damage type: magical (target), HP removal (self)
• Burning Spears stacks additively when used multiple times on one target. There is no cap.
• Huskar cannot kill himself using this skill.

Thank you come again, the cap does not end at 8.
