Installing now.....!

Will post my impressions

Looking forward to your impressions! Though I recommend you make a thread so people will notice it. :)

Ordinarily a day one for me. I love Level 5 and Studio Ghibli. Unfortunately I have recently bought White Knight Chronicles and watch Tales From Earthsea. Those two make it a "wait and see".

This really is not indicative of the quality of pretty much every other Ghibli film. There is a reason it is 'bad' or not altogether any good, making it one of the few exceptions to the rule. Go educate yourself before writing them off and making judgements like that, it's not like Eathsea was their latest film either.

Only 2 hours 40 minutes into the game but my god it's beautiful...the gameplay is really nice and simple. Check out the videos I've just posted on Gamersyde. I'll make more videos as I progress further into the game.

How are the boss battles (if you've ran into any yet)? "Nice and simple" sounds fine for regular encounters, but I hope the bosses put up some kind of fight.

Take a pill. I simply said I would "wait and see"... not that Studio Ghibli, or even Level 5 were incompetent. I have enjoyed both companies previous works (particularly Miyazaki's), but what I have seen from them recently, causes me to scrutinize the game more before I buy it. Who is being judgemental?

Game looks good, jRPGs are irrelevant though.

Yeah this is what I'm afraid of:

easy, slow, and tedious random battles but deep combat mechanics
poorly executed dialogue and story for 6 year olds but a beautiful and involving world
absolutely unnecessary repetitive quests but many locations to explore

I haven't played it but I brace myself every time - this game looks amazing and Level 5 are badasses so, I've got my fingers crossed.

It looks like if you want to melee, you use Oliver's little pet dude, but Oliver himself does magic. It does not look to shabby......

I've been reading some very favourable impressions regarding gameplay.

The only downside I have read is the lack of voiced scenes. Apparently there isn't enough of them.

I'm about to bite the bullet and import this.

With the English version coming in just a few months?

That is really optimistic. I don't have faith in JRPGs localised so quickly. At least not from Level 5/Namco Bandai, but that would be nice!

They did say that it would be early 2012, and supposedly NB is publishing it here, so.......

Sorry if thisnhas already been asked, but is there release dates for any regions yet?

This game looks and sounds amazing. I may have to buy an ost for the first time since Final Fantasy Tactics.

For some reason I thought it was coming in February, weeeird.

This game really is one of the most beautiful looking games I've played so far. Its very charming and Im enjoying it. Im only a few hours in but its still impressing me. The battles are interesting and Im looking forward to playing more. Was really glad to get another copy of the Magic Master book. I had been thinking of getting another copy of the DS game just for the book since the DS game is so cheap here, but thankfully that wont be necessary anymore.

Where are you now in the game? Hearing that the battles are interesting is something surprising. :P

Honestly not far, about five hours in now, and I'm not fully ready yet to say its a great system yet, but I was surprised at some of the freedom you got in movement and all. I was expecting it to be more like the DS version being fully turn based but theres some nice abilities to move around on your own during the battle and to easily change your characters in battle on the fly. There is points where it's hard to get some commands done quickly, but thankfully there are ways to avoid trouble with that, But I'm still only battling with one character and his imersions so I'm not sure how it will be when the party gets bigger. Hopefully the battles keep interesting me,

Everything else has been great so far. a great world, awesome music, and it's just nice overall. There are some things that can be downers but nothing has so far made me feel like its bad.

For me I'm enjoying it. There's a lot of gloom and doom out there spoken about the game, and I can see where people feel that way. But just from my own feelings I like it. Also I think ultimately in the end, there will be very little middle ground. Some will absolutely love it, and others will hate it, but not much in between.

Thanks for the first impressions! Though what are these downers you speak of?

Two things, one I have which is super super minor, and one others are complaining about but I'm not so down on, but certainly noticed. For me, Oliver walks so slow in the game, and getting through dungeons and the overworld map is just slow. Granted he is a kid so it makes sense, but sometimes I feel he could walk a little faster. Im sure there has to be an ability to improve that in the game coming up.

The other, the lack of voice acting at times. It doesn't bug me really, but there are times where it appears and disappears randomly. It would've been nice to have more, but it's a minor issue, and one I didn't mind too much. Still would love to hear more voices in the dialogue, especially for Shizuku's kaisai accent. I always love hearing him speak.

But yeah, other than that I'm enjoying it. It's a nice game to play so far. A good light hearted companion to play opposite of when I need that hard difficult gameplay of Dark Souls.
