Onimusha - Way of the Sword | Gameplay Trailer

To be honest i'm a bit tired of this setting. I hope the game has some interesting levels so i don't keep thinking about chinese soulslike games look.

Also is Sasaki just done here?! I was liking his character, it had the potential to be that annoying lapdog that you fight more than once.

China /= Japan

Meh. Looks pretty uninteresting and ugly.

Great video. Loving the animations and combat.

That being said,I never played any of the previous games, I know, crazy. Are these games considered very challenging or doable?
They can be challenging, but certainly doable. It's not the ballcrushing hard from soulslikes.

As far as i can remember they are very doable. Difficulty spikes a bit here and there. I remember for example Onimusha 3 final boss to be annoying as i was not well prepared to fight him.

Hopefully capcom doesn't go 3 for 3 with this one.

After the d2 and widls fiasco i can't take it anymore from the crapgods.

Graphic looks whatever but the game looks fun at least.

Maximillian says its one of the best looking Capcom games. No open world. Similar to the originals

Not to be rude, but i don't give a single fuck about what that dude says, not after so many youtubers were shilling for d2 and wilds.

Also he loves the ff7 remakes so his opinion is even more worthless than your average youtuber to me :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

P.s. the best looking capcom game is nowhere near the best looking games we had this gen so that compliment doesn't really say much.

I didn't played D2 but for me personally I actually really liked MHWilds so for me Capcom still delivers fun games.

It was ok, but i was waiting for my game of the generation, not something i would leave after like 30 hours...

Even rise kept me more occupied and i don't really like that game much.

They are all monster hunters so the quality is there and they are all good games at the bare minimum, but wilds pooped the pants for many things.

If gaf can shame sony or M when they make only decent\good games, i can definitely do the same with capcom, nobody has a free pass from me.

You would probably love dogma2 because what are flaws to me aren't usually flaws for you, no challenge, meh techincal aspect, story and charas being dull af.

As a medieval power fantasy with punchy combat and fun classes it's allright.

But we are off topic.

I don't know about you but I'm playing MH Wilds almost daily especially after the update…So for me Capcom still making the games I like.

I only returned to slay the new monsters they introduced since launch, i missed all of them (not sure why they wasted 2 monsters that we already had in rise instead of putting older stuff tbh)

I'm probably gonna return for the big expansion, at least they are gonna fix the lack of challenge of the base game.

They did….they added Lagiacrus.
Yes and that's why i say they wasted 2 monsters and not 5...

They could have used 5 older monsters instead of something we fought in rise already.

if you had to use recent monsters gimme the freaking bezel that as an irregular invader in an open world based on ecology would be beyond speactacular as a concept, something that you engage a lot with in the open world other than specific hunts.

Pretty lazy on their part.

Looks great to me.

Oh wow, this looks miles better when in uninterrupted action. That combat system actually looks very cool and didn't come across in that flaccid trailer at all imo.

The way dodging, parries and everything melds together and combined with the damage models...great stuff. Animations and sound design are really good. I went from a fat "meh" to being excited watching this just now.

You think I like the dude?

It's crazy to me how they never showcase the actual combat in the trailer, the animations look amazing and fluid, way better than Yotei even and that's a first-party game.

The characters and monsters in the original PS2 games looked more like they existed in their environments than the new ones do. And that's saying something, considering the originals used pre-rendered backgrounds.

The lighting is off in this gameplay footage. It looks like the MC and mobs have been badly composited in. They just don't integrate into the scene. They appear to be lit differently to the environment.

Looks ok so far.
The enemy types look fun and the combat looks flashy with some cool animations. I hope later on in the game the level design and puzzles become a bit more complex. In that Maximilian video he mentions that it felt like a very early part of the game, where you basically just go through corridors that take you from one fight to the next, he also said it's super easy but that could also be because it felt like the intro.

The visuals look fine IMO as long as it actually runs decently and not like MHW. It does looked washed out though, which is weird.
Could it be a busted HDR implementation? The Hell is Us demo looked just as washed out, then I disabled HDR in the menu and it instantly looked way better and with much higher contrast.

Looks absolutely fucking amazing. So stoked to be playing an awesome game with enough elements from previous ones.
Day zero

Not to my eyes tbh.
Don't get me wrong, I'm mega hyped but the grey thing is well, a thing.
All the blacks are basically just dark gray. It looks like some busted HDR setting or something to me, I think someone else already said that though. Or maybe it's a poor stylistic choice, it looks weird either way because the HUD is clearly bright and colorful enough. That gif though has proper blacks in the background while everything in the foreground has that weird dull gray look.

Game looks great but that is a weird choice if it is one.

Loved the demo vid and all the detailed deep dives into mechanics explaining how it really works. Didn't expect stuff like actively using parry to reposition, so cool. Can't wait to get my hands on it

Gameplay looks great but they really need to clean up some of the fucked baked lighting in some of those levels. Some scenes in the trailer look amazing whilst others look like every character in the scene is lit with completely arbitrary lighting conditions; they're all over the place.
Pre rendered vs in game.

I think people have cranked the brightness up massively in the videos they've recorded; there's barely any depth to the blacks.

Very weird and undersaturated looking.

Almost looks like someone tried porting an HDR video to an SDR display, but I don't think that's it..just a poor stylistic choice.
You're right T
Definitely looks like washed out hdr or something.
hehehehehe

I don't know what you guys have against this game, it looks great. The cinematic type combat seems very spectacular, and maybe they will manage to make it interesting to play too (in higher difficulties at least).
After seeing the previews i really want to play the goddam demo. Hope they will make it available soon.

So hyped for this game, watching the boss battle and seeing many variations in parry animation, depending on which way your character is facing is amazing.
Cross fingers Capcom releases a demo.

Replaying Onimusha DoD to get that parry Issen fix.

Goddamn, this is doing for me for action combat what ILL is doing for the FPS genre. Stoked about how great the blocks, parries, and dismemberment look! It's good this is coming in '26 cause it will make a lot of upcoming games look archaic when it comes to realistic looking mechanics.
