In this thread we can tell who has seen Black Death and who hasn't. :P

Everyone looks so badass and the sets look great. Dunno if HBO upped the budget for this season or if the producers just learned how to spend it better, but I am so hyped. I'm guessing we won't get a proper trailer for another month or two?

There's a small chance we'll get one before the Boardwalk Empire finale. Although since we just got this last night and Boardwalk Empire ends in 3 weeks chances are looking slimmer and slimmer. But we'll probably have one by the time Luck premieres in late January.

Bran looks a bit older. Hope he doesn't lose his cuteness.

One more time just cause I like to watch her moving around. Jorah looks like he wants to place the hoverhand on her, back off only I have that right!

I'm hoping we get a big 10-15m behind the scenes preview thing like we did last year. Which if I remember correctly, aired in Jan sometime. Airing it before the series premier of Luck would be a good time to do it too.

Man Daenerys scenes are gonna be boring as fuck, I'm dreading them (at least the eye candy is there though).

Really liking the look of Davos and Renly though. I thought Davos would be younger but they still picked a pretty good actor for the part. And Renly looks a lot better now with the beard and everything. His wife aint hot though, I thought she was supposed to be sexy as hell. And Melisandre should definitely be more exotic but eh whatever.

I didn't even know about this book until I watched the show. Simply amazing. I just finished the first book and I think there's like 4 or 5 more =o

Who is the guy with Theon? I knew that
they hadn't cast Aeron in this season

Some random priest welcoming Theon back and stuff.

http://winter-is-coming.net/2011/09/character-cuts-whos-in-and-whos-out-of-season-two/

Aeron “Damphair” Greyjoy – The Damphair’s primary role in book two is to welcome Theon back to Pyke and, through dialogue with his nephew, introduce the major players amongst the Ironborn. It seems he has been shuffled off to a later season, as we recently got a glimpse of a Drowned Priest-looking character fulfilling the Damphair’s role on set, but we have it on good authority that this character was NOT Aeron Greyjoy. I can live with that, especially if it means we can avoid a recast down the line. Save Aeron for when he’s really needed (ie the kingsmoot).

Try to pace yourself. Who knows when the next book is going to be out.

i made this mistake. i read all five books in about two months starting in august of this year, then it felt like i lost some organ for a while since i couldnt continue the story after 6000 pages. now i twiddle my thumbs for what? 4 more years?

QFT.
I watched the first season and before it was even over I bought the 4 books (at the time) and read them voraciously for 2 months. Now I'm stuck like everyone else hoping GRRM actually finishes the story/series before a zombie apocalypse or he dies... or both.
I couldn't help it, they're all great books which makes the wait for the next book or the next season of the show all that more painful.

Eye candy indeed if they do the costumes right.

Margaery's not supposed to be sexy. At most, she's the mousy, conniving girl we're getting here.

I mean, she's pretty, which is what we've got here, but I would hesitate to call her sexy. Not like Renly cares or anything.

Especially considering her actual age in the books I think that's correct. Though aging her up I think they could have made her more womanly but I think that would have undermined her trying to play the angelic innocent virgin.

I wonder if Brienne will be as ugly as she's supposed to be, love the helm she's wearing. Somehow I pictured the Rainbow Guard as being more "colorful". Game of Thrones is back up on HBO on Demand if anyone wants to catch the series again on the telly!

Eh isn't she described as being quite cute? Everyone thinks so except Cersei

She's described as "very pretty" in ACOK. I don't think this actress is right for the role.

Yup. The actress is obviously attractive, with an odd beauty (although she looks straight up weird at certain angles...).

I'm more bummed about the role being aged up significantly. She's 16 in the novels, I would have figured an 18-21yo actress would be perfect. They must have really increased the character's screen time to justify casting such an accomplished actress

As in the actress is too pretty or not pretty enough? I think she looks gorgeous but some would consider that a trait Margery doesn't have in the books?

There's something odd about her. I think she's pretty, but a far cry from gorgeous. Certainly doesn't have an innocent, maiden look to her.

Now that's a good shot of her. And yes I pictured Margery as being cute and pretty based on her description in the books.

Anybody who doesn't think Natalie Dormer is sexy as hell go do yourselves a favor and watch the first couple seasons of The Tudors before AGOT season 2 starts.

Come on, she looks more like some mouthy wildling girl than Margaery.

She's ok though. The casting is not nearly the travesty as the Asha/Yara casting.

I'll be sad if the Reeds intro from CLOK is changed in the tv show (if they are in the show at all.) I thought their speech to Bran was pretty awesome. One of the times I went HELL YEAH. Don't know why. Meehh could just be me though.

edit: meant bran not bron. Feel free to rag on the idiot of the hour. :) Apparently I can't post and watch House at the same time.

Why would they make a speech to a sell sword? I mean, sure he was knighted after the Battle of Blackwater, but I don't see why he is of any importance to the Crannogmen.

Sexy? Gorgeous? No. Cute at best. Personally, she looks homely.

Also, like most of the casting in the show, too old. Shit's gonna look real fucked up in book 4.

Margery's actress looks pretty damn similar to how I pictured her in that gif, the only problem is that she's too old. She looks like she's in her late 20's and she's supposed to be 16 (well, 18 if the show sticks with aging up the younger characters by 2 years).

also,
Clash of Kings spoilers
It's too bad Renly had to die so soon. He probably would have been the best King. But I suppose there wouldn't be much of a story if the best candidate for the throne just swoops in with his unstoppable army and wins in the second book, lol.

Rather that then the Dragon chick winning >.< I just dont like her or her plot line... I think its cause I 'feel' like I know whats going to happen, its all being set up for her kinda...

I've kind of ruined my reading experience of ASOS. I got bored with some chapter early in the book, so I've skipped around a bunch, so I kind of read it in patches, so now I have to go back and find all the parts I've missed.

Clash of Kings spoilers
I don't think Renly would have been the best. He liked to play the part but in the end he would have just been a puppet for the Tyrells. Donal Noye had him pegged. He's shiny but no real substance. Robert couldn't do it, I don't see why Renly would be any better. I'd put Stannis a bit above Renly. He's an ass and no one loves him, but at least he has a sense of how to rule. Tywin Lannister would have been the best king given the chance. But for the 5 kings I'd rank them 5. Balon Greyjoy, 4. Joffrey 3. Renly 2. Stannis 1. Robb. All have flaws though.

I think Renly with Stannis as his Hand (or the other way around), would have actually been a great and effective reign. If only they could have gotten along. Naturally, I think Robb would be the best of the Kings, but I was referring more the the candidates for the Iron Throne, which Robb never had any ambitions for.

Dat Stark honor

Wow, I'm really impressed and excited. All the actors/costumes/sets are looking so frikken hot (and 10x better than season 1). Did they get a bigger budget for this one?

CoK spoilers:
When it comes to Bran and Rickon's supposed deaths, I have the feeling that in the penultimate episode they'll have a fake-out scene, where they'll either:

-Have Theon and co. enter the mill, looking for Bran and Rickon, cutting back and forth with Bran and Rickon seeing someone coming and crawling off to a hiding spot. Theon hears someone moving, and it cuts back to Bran looking terrified, before finally cutting back to Theon and his men slaughtering the boys, while the showrunners find some way to pull of making the victims look like Bran and Rickon. Then wait until the end of the final episode to reveal what happened, with the person they heard come down into the crypt be Hodor, Osha, or maybe even the Reeds.

-Have Bran experience the whole thing from one of the Miller's boys' perspective, with the same actor playing both Bran and the Miller's boy, thus making it all the more convincing, while
(Possible Minor Series Spoilers)
foreshadowing the extent of Bran's abilities to warg into other people.

I'm really looking forward to this season though, and the long wait isn't helping any.

Damn, if only the Baratheon brothers could get along. Stannis as king, with Renly as his weak Hand/good cop, mainly to attract support. Robb would have had no problem kneeling to Stannis considering his father wanted to.

Initially I blamed Renly's childish greed for ruining such an obvious union, but Stannis deserves as much blame for his inability to compromise on anything. One of my favorite quotes in the entire series is that "There is no creature on earth half so terrifying as a truly just man."

Yeah, Robb even mentions after getting the news from the Blackwater that he was hoping Stannis would win so that he could make peace with him. Best case scenario would have been Renly/Stannis winning the throne, with one of them King and the other Hand, and then Robb making peace with them and ruling the North.

Renly really should have known that Stannis would not accept his younger brother as King, and he should have just accepted the position of Hand and shared the rule with his older brother, for the sake of the realm. But then, I guess Renly had no way of known Stannis would have a shadow assassinate him.

Though I'm pretty sure that at one point, Stannis says that he could not make peace with Robb, since by declaring himself king of the north, he was just as bad as any of the other self-proclaimed kings, as they were all unlawfully claiming what was lawfully Stannis' kingdom. That really sums up Stannis as a character, being so rigid and uncompromising in his beliefs in justice and duty, that he is unwilling to make any exception, even if it would massively help him. And the thing is, it's not like he refuses to recognize these other kings because he wants the throne for himself, but because he sees taking the throne as the only right thing to do, being the true heir to Robert, and he has a duty to make sure the right heir assumes the throne.
