The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

Those look better than UC1 by a solid margin.

not really, you notice more stretched or blurry texture in GA, but the character model have U2's more realistic style than the more cartoony U1 Drake model and the environment is more interesting.

it 'look' better than U1 because of better art direction/environment, not that it push more polygon or higher quality textures.

No, the framerate is not amazing but other than that I like what I see. It looks very "Socom" (which shouldn't be a surprise) in terms of view point and only taking a couple of hits to down an enemy. If the game is well executed and has enough content I can see it being a surprise hit.
Not amazing? I'd say the framrate looks pretty terrible.

If Xbox Loop/10 comes out next year then so will Sony. I would place money on that.
Meh, Sony has said they learned their lesson with PSP where they moved their attention to PS3 too early & too much. Q2-Q3 2013 is the earliest I could see PS4 being released. That's not too soon after Vita or too late after Wii U & X10 and it would perhaps give some of Sony's dev teams 2-3 years to work on launch games (assuming they've already begun working on them).

wicked. it seems the vita 3g might not be sold at canadian stores, only at carriers (if at all). fs just emailed me and cancelled my 3g preorder saying they won't have the item.

Still If they shit focus to Vita completely and don't let their studio work now on PS4 projects (when it's clearly Microsoft preparing to their new system already) then PS4 will have even worse times than PS3..hell it might even kill the PlayStation brand altogether.

What Sony need to do ( to don't repeat the PSP lack of support mistake and don't ignore the fact that next gen of consoles is coming soon) is to have a Portable/handheld team within every one of their major studios.

which looks like what they're doing with vita right now. I don't see any evidence of major home console dev teams being pulled off PS3/PS4 onto vita, so still capable of prepping for PS4 launch.

I'd argue that Sony are more capable of supporting two launches within 12 months of each other than MS are of launching one, considering how much MS have cut back on first/second party devs.

It seems Sony are throwing all their games for launch or near the launch window.

We have:
Uncharted
Modnation
Everybody's Golf
MotorStorm
WipeOut

Then games that could potentially come out soon after the launch window:
Unit 13 (from SOCOM developers)
Resistance
Killzone
LittleBigPlanet

And thats not including new IP's like Gravity Rush, Escape Plan, Little Deviants and Reality Fighters.

Hopefully Sony don't blow their load all at once, or they can run out of steam. It seems Sony managed to have a wide range of games because they have small budget games as well as big budget. Small budget games like Escape Plan, Stardust, Sound Shapes and MotorStorm RC make the launch window much bigger. Sony also has their basic shovelware games like Little Deviants and Reality Fighters, these may look like terrible games it they are showcases for things like AR. So basically the big games for Vita launch are Uncharted, Modnation, Hotshots Golf and WipeOut. This is quite a good selection of decent games. I am guessing the 2nd wave of games will come at least 3-4 months after VIta launch were we get LittleBigPlanet, Killzone and Resistance. Of course Sony still could have potential surprises under their sleeves, I remember reading Media Molecule and Guerilla Games are developing games for Vita.

Sony would never move focus completely on Vita nor move focus too much away from Vita either (that's why they have all these new partners they've put to work on Vita games in addition to quite a sizeable chunk of their own studios). They are probably in the process of phasing out PS3 development slowly but surely. If I had to guess (and if my prediction of a ~mid-2013 launch for PS4 turns out to be true), I'd say:

1) Evolution Studios & Naughty Dog have already moved/will move on to PS4 development since both released a game this year and Evolution Studios will perhaps better serve as working on a PS4 launch title instead of another Super Bombah Motorstorm for PS3 in early 2013 (better awe everybody with a PS4 launch title and get a sales boost from launch sales). PS4 will need first party launch/first year titles and if PS4 is launched by mid-2013, Evolution Studios could get a launch title done and Naughty Dog a holiday 2013 release.

2) Guerrilla Games, Quantic Dream, Media Molecule and SCEA Santa Monica might each still have PS3 games set for late 2012/early-mid 2013 releases so that their output on PS3 doesn't stop too early before PS4's arrival (and might even continue a while after its launch), but GG's second studio could be working on a PS4 game. GG's second studio could also be working on a Vita game (they did make KZ Liberation for PSP). If the second team is developing for Vita, in that case I'd say that the "KZ studio" isn't working on PS3 anymore, but maybe they've started to work on a PS4 launch title as soon as they shipped KZ3.

3) Polyphony Digital might not develop GT6 for PS3, instead it'll be a year 1 (year 2 after delays :P ) release for PS4

4) Zipper is working on their Vita launch title & PS4 game simultaneously

5) some kind of output from SCE Japan too ((either) through collaborations/publishing deals with devs like Level 5 & From Software and(/or) something in-house, Hot Shots Golf 7 or the like)

6) Sucker Punch's next game will either be one of the last first party games for PS3 or one of the first for PS4

7) in addition to their Vita launch games, some SCEE UK team's have been hard at work on PS4 games too

even if sony blows their load at once, 3rd parties will most likely be releasing vita games consistently if they're really so easy to port from ps3.

Old?

http://www.siliconera.com/2011/11/23/playstation-vita-launches-with-free-badman-game

The series known as Badman, What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord or No Heroes Allowed is getting a new game just in time for the PlayStation Vita launch. Since we’re not sure what Sony is going to call it well go with the Japanese name, The Hero’s Records.

This Badman game is different from the other titles in the series since it’s a mashup of a dungeon defending game and a personal scheduler You play the game by putting items on a to do list and when you complete tasks you can create monsters. Each weekend you battle invading heroes, so if you complete all your work (or pretend you did) I suppose you’ll win.. The Hero’s Record will be available as a free download when PlayStation Vita launches on December 17 in Japan.

I played PlayStation Vita at Potomac Mills today (in Northern, VA). Played Uncharted: GA, Little Deviants, Reality Fighters, and MNR Roadtrip. Little Deviants was the big surprise, where that game was tons of fun (like the tilt controls). Reality Fighters wasn't all that special fighting wise, but the argumanted reality was sort cool.

I already have my PS Vita preordered, playing it at the mall made me want it more. This list of US malls that have it now to play are here:

There's a Vita event on over the weekend here in Nagoya, Japan. I'll do my best to get some videos of the games on show, as far as I remember there will be 14 titles on display over the 2 days.

On display are the following titles;

Marvel V Capcom 3
Dynasty Warriors NEXT
Little kings Story
Army Corps of Hell
Shinobido 2
Power Smash 4
Uncharted
Gravity Daze
Everybodies Golf 6
Shinkama
Ridge Racer

Oh shit, thanks for posting that!
One really close to me.

Please see if UMvC3 still has the static backgrounds from the TGS build! That's a potential deal breaker...

Ragnarok Odyssey set for February 2, at 5980 yen retail, and 4800 yen on PSN. The game is Ad Hoc only, but it does support on card saving.

At this point there is a good chance(most likely?) Resistance was a PSP game at first.

Eh, Bend pitched a Resistance Retribution sequel on PSP and got denied. So that's kind of dicey.

So many games I'm hyped for on this, but the two I can't stop thinking about are LBP and Gravity Daze. Can't freakin wait.

I want to be interested in Ragnarok still, but it just looks so ehhh.

lol Ragnarok's PSP game is a single player RPG IIRC.
And a pretty crappy one, yeah. I was kind of hoping that they would put the Vita's online capabilities to good use, especially since the others MH clones (LoA) do that.
