Oddly that's only on loading screens playing it's as smooth as butter.
I think the ATT rep screwed up. Online it still says i'm not eligible to upgrade and the rep who was handling everything called me yesterday to tell me the display model was the only one they have left. Fuck. I'm going to try another ATT store down the street when they open but I fear they will either A.) Not price match to online like the other store said they would B.) Say i'm not eligible for upgrade.

Going to the AT&T store when they open to see if they'll match the "online only" sale and let me trade in my Focus Flash for a Titan. Still don't think they can match it despite being told they could (by a guy who didn't even know about the sale), and if not I'm happy with this phone and will just grab a case for it.
Mom also wants a phone and has an upgrade, likes the idea of getting a new/nice one for a penny. Not sure if a Windows phone is really good for her though. Haven't messed with any voice-to-text/voice command stuff at all so I don't know if it's any good and she uses Swype, so she'll probably want another Android phone.

You know what really screw up about the whole At&t thing, is that if you pick iPhone you get better data plan offer and better pricing than any other phone.
Really? I'm going from the 3gs to a Titan and my deal is exactly the same. $30 for unlimited.

As expected, they couldn't match the one cent deal in store, but they did let me return my phone and get my upgrade back, so Titan ordered.
There's definitely no drm on iOS photos.

Mango itself supports wifi hotspot.. but it depends entirely on what phone you have.. some of the manufacturers' wireless drivers support it, some do not.
I enabled it on my original Focus though it had a fair number of steps involved.. you have to do an interop unlock and modify/create a number of registry entries on the phone

I experience both problems. The first isn't a massive problem and I can deal with it. The second however requires me to restart the phone as nothing else works. My 3G just dies even though I have full 3G signal.....

It sucks that I have to go to at&t and go through the hassle of returning my phone for the 1¢ special, but it is $200-$35 for restocking, definitely worth it. I'll have to use my n1 till the phone gets here. Ugh.

I can not believe how clueless these ATT reps still are a year after release. My God if it doesn't say Apple or Galaxy or Android they don't even know or care if it exists. I really blame them as much as anyone for the slow start. They appear to me to not even take any time to educate themselves about the products at all or even bother to find out about specials or deals. They are like the old used car salesmen cliche of this decade.
Rep I talked to today said the biggest reason to by a Win Phone was for kids to play Xbox Live on it.

I told him I run my entire business through a Win Phone and it is the most effective phone I could imagine having for all of those needs.
It's easier now I think. I bought a Chevron Unlock code and then deployed an app from XDA that enabled Internet Sharing and Interop Unlock. Everything took about 15 minutes.

I have corporate account discount from my work, and there are special plan just for iPhone user. It even specifically said discount plan for iPhone 4. It's cheaper than what I got offer for the Titan if I want tethering.
There's a 2gb plan for $19 (discount) not offer if I get non-iPhone phone, a 4gb tethering plan for $34.20 and several other option not available if I pick Windows Phone. Could it be because of "4G" ?

I would go with Focus S and get two difference phones that you can switch whatever suit your need at the time.
My wife said she doesn't want a smartphone .. too complicated she said so my Focus will be my back up phone or will go to one of my kid. (If he can be more responsible, my sister gave him iPhone 3GS awhile back and promptly misplaced it few months after).

For the past week I noticed my HTC HD7 has been saying an update is available, however I've been so busy I haven't got around to it yet. What does this update entail? More Mango stuff?

yea that's probably a good plan. that way I have best of both worlds...
but the Titan is *drool*. OTOH if the Focus fails I think my fiance would prefer the focus S over the titanand agree on the teenage smart phone thing. We have basically told the kids when you make your own money you can have all the smart phones you want until then Messaging phones is it (which we can replace off of ebay all day long for under $100)
...hence the extra upgrade paths

Okay, am I doing something wrong on the ATT site? I have an existing family plan and am trying to see if it's possible just to upgrade a line for a discounted price, but whenever I check out, it's the full $560 price for the Titan. Is there some special "route" I need to go through???

Couldn't get the website to work last night, but I went to AT&T this morning and they had a few left and they matched the online deal. I am now a proud owner of a titan!

Make sure you have the proper line selected that is eligible for the upgrade. There isn't any special route. I just selected the eligible line, went to the Windows Phones, and saw the discounts.

I just don't understand why it doesn't indicate a discount for any of the three lines on my family plan when I choose a phone, but on Amazon Wireless, I can order the Titan for $80 on an existing family plan line, with the unfortunate caveat of selecting a new data plan (i.e. I'd lose my unlimited).

I had to reselect my data plan on AT&T too. But you should just be able to log in and go to upgrade, pick an eligible line, and get the discounts. I didn't have any problem upgrading two existing family plan lines today.
Are you going into your account and click upgrade phone or going straight through the store? I logged into our account, then went to check upgrade availability, then clicked my line, and the store that came up had the discounted prices.
Ordered two last night around 12:30AM and they've already been shipped.
did you log into your account on ATT , choose Upgrade phone, and then see the list of lines? an upgradable one will say:
select the box next to it, go to bottom of page and say upgrade selected line and then click windows phones in the filter list and you will see the .01 phones

I remember a Focus S owner saying they had issues or were disappointed? Any more feedback on the Focus S compared to Titan or original Focus?

If you have a line that is eligible for upgrade it will tell you that you are eligible for full upgrade pricing other wise it will send you to a screen where you buy the phone off contract. Unless you want an iPhone (there goes another iPhone special) you can do early upgrade to your contract.
When you pick the phone it will show full price until you add in your data plan, then it should give you the discount pricing. Are you sure your lines are all eligible for upgrade? If you are sure then you might have to call At&t, sometimes the account upgrade information is off or wrong.

You can't really compare a guy who work at MS store with At&t rep (most of them either own Android or iPhone anyway) but that's not saying MS have a long way to go to change the perception.
I find your comment about your sister lying a lot to be quite amusing. I don't think she lied as much as that's the perception that Windows Phone have. Even my wife who care nothing for the phone asking me why I didn't get Android phone because all her friends have them. Last night she was telling me it was so cool that her friend can scan barcode, I told her my phone can do one better and I can just scan book, DVD, or CD cover.

yea my local guy said he'd do it but that it wasn't applicable to upgrade lines only new (which we know is wrong) I probably could have gotten him to do it (we were on phone) but I'd rather sit here and watch football, not try to convince someone of something and have it show up at door next week.
Make a list of your top 20 apps, go here: www.windowsphone.com/marketplace and run some searches. For those you can't find, try this site for alternatives. There are very very few big apps now that aren't in the Marketplace or don't have an alternative available. I personally came from iOS, the only two apps I'm missing are an official tumblr app and Mint, but there are alts to both of those right now. Otherwise, I've been pleased with the selection.

I'm not a new line. Upgrade only. They said at every store i called that they would be able to price match.

Yeah, my daughter left her phone in her jean that I promptly wash (though it is my fault according to her for not checking all the pockets for phone). Good thing the same phone on ebay was $34.00. My wife and I agree they will both keep their messaging phone until they are more responsible or they can paid for the phone.
I have three upgrade coming next year!

they have no titans to sell (just demo) but I could get the Focus S, I may go do that but I have been reading more reports of the pixel density on titan (of which I already have one coming) being an issue. can anyone with a Titan comment on the pixelization? thx

How would you like me to test?
my biggest concerns are reports of call drops or inability of people to hear clearly and the pixel issue allegedly appears when zooming in and out of web pages which I use a lot. stretching or fuzzy image quality on web pages?
Can you speak to either of these?
doesn't matter too much as I already have a titan coming but was going to grab a back up and Focus S is there to grab today so I may do and have both. Was just wondering if I might like the titan so much that I would want one for my back up

So I returned my Focus S, went to the site, couldn't get the 1 cent deal, got on the phone, finally got a rep who manually entered everything himself just so I could get the 1 cent deal on my new......Samsung Focus S. Yeah, I know I keep crapping on the camera. But dat display. Dat light, thin profile.
Samsung also has my benefit of the doubt in that they did some firmware improvements to their original Focus phones (the turning off of the capacitive buttons when playing games), so I'm gambling that they'll do it again. This time, I know they'll have to issue a patch soon (the keyboard lag) and I'm hoping it'll have some camera improvements as well. The sensor is good, so its a matter of patching the software a bit. I already figured out how to improve low light photos (remove the anti-shake option), but now I have to get rid of that damned bloom/crush, and I haven't figured out how to do that yet. We'll see, but for the next 18 months at least, I've cast my lot with Samsung and Windows Phone. Here's hoping I don't regret that.

If you have your phone unlock and interop there is a new homebrew app that let you change all type of setting (theme, colors etc). It took me all afternoon to unlock my Focus and get this Advanced Configuration 1.5 up and running.

I have a lot of fun changing the colors and it works better than the old accent changer.
@VanMardigan It's hard to get away from the pretty Amoled screen. I am going to miss that on Focus but playing with Advanced Config app all day make me noticed that some of the colors are just way too bright on the Focus. I am hoping HTC can be unlock .. but from reading the forum there seems to be a lot of issues.

O2 finally have their Priority Moments app up in the Marketplace for UK users.
If you search using windowsphone.com's online marketplace you'll find nothing, instead search with your phone and you'll find it.
If I click on that link in my app purchase history it says "App not found - We can't find that app in this Marketplace" yet I have it installed on my phone... :S

I've got it downloaded onto my phone but it keeps telling me my number isn't an O2 one :S yet the app worked fine for me on iOS and on Android.

Is there a good ereader in the marketplace? I got one called Freda based off some google Bing searches and it's ok. I've used Aldiko, on Android, extensively and it's a far better ereader. I'd love something very similar to it. Heck, I'd be happy with the Nook app as long as it let you sideload epubs. Ability to pin books to the main page would be even better.
Are nook and kindle the only ones which let you read books across multiple devices? I know it only works with books you purchase through them but an ereader app which let me read even my side loaded books on my nook color and on my phone and switch between without having to find where i left on on the other device, would be amazing.
Also, how do i get things onto the phone from my PC? Do i have to have it synced with Zune on the pc first? When I plugged it in, I couldnt find the storage through windows explorer like I'm used to with my old phones.

yea the colors are way off on these Focus and Focus S screens. I got the S today and Titan will be here in a couple days. But, in store Samsung sounded clearer on phone call than HTC and colors are better on HTC and I like the bigger screen size.
I may go through the unlock on Samsung if I end up keeping it, I miss the custom colors which for me really were just the toned down pigments of the originals.
