Need to see if there was a Southern Miss TrollFace icon
Would CUSA even get any extra payout since USM would just go to the normal Liberty Bowl? Where is his tweet if the Pac-12 has to send UCLA to the Rose Bowl? I know it won't happen, but you never know!

Hope Houston doesn't Coog it.

Doesn't matter if it IS UCLA that goes to the Rose Bowl. Someone from the PAC is going to the Rose Bowl, and they're getting their money.

I'd "assume" that a Houston Loss, would put Boise in a BCS game, and give that chunk of money to it's fellow MWC teams (for the last time, I guess)

He's actually the director of football operations I found out, Aubrey Hill is the recruiting coordinator. So even better news for us. :/

DFO is just as important, though. Fortunately, there's plenty of talent available for that job and it's relatively high paying because it's so damn important. He was always Meyer's guy and it's not surprising he left.

Now, if he took the admin that handles recruiting and NSD, I will burn his house to the ground. She's nearly irreplaceable. (The Alligator did an article about her several years ago if I remember right.)

edit: ah, sarcasm. Point still stands.

Actually, I misread. I thought he was implying that CUSA should have to pay back the money or something. But yeah, after rereading, I get what he' saying. Although CUSA never had that money in the first place - not like we depend on it. And I thought each school would get only about $500k per team if Houston goes.

Hope UCLA wins just to make a mockery of the whole "you must win your conference to participate in the BCS bowls" sham.

It'd be like the 7-9 Seahawks making the playoffs! :P

Every Conference probably does it differently, but the bowl money is more or less split evenly amongst it's conference members.

SEC breaks it up into, I think, 14 pieces. 11 pieces to the other 11 schools, 2 pieces for the Actual School that played in the game, and 1 piece for the SEC office (for League Officials salaries and other expenditures).

Big East already applies for this.

Just came to post about Pantoni, and thoughts on him. Buzz around here is he is a great get for us. I'm excited to see who urban fills out the rest of his staff with.

No, it just shows the NCAA sucks donkey balls. Conference champs are best champs.

But sure, lets give a team a bye week for losing and send them to the MNC.

FWIW, I think that "we sure ain't Clemson" quote was from Carolina radio announcer Todd Ellis, not Spurrier.

To make up for ruining that bit of fun, here's a picture of Clowney doing Clowney things!

Boise won't get an automatic bid in any case as they aren't their conference champions (assuming TCU beat UNLV this weekend). They do have some value apparently as an at-large choice.

So, if that's the case, and the BCS decides it doesn't want to select Boise either, who gets that other spot? Oklahoma, Kansas State, Team to be determined later?

Saw this quote from Saban from 2003 on my Twitter feed today.. "Anyone who doesn't win their conference has no business playing in the national championship game." I assume he'll decline any invitation this year, BCS computers may as well not waste their time.
Don't think he actually said this exact quote. A bit of googling shows he definitely had some harsh words for Oklahoma losing their final game/CCG. Just standard lobbying.

Don't see why Gundy isn't lobbying Mack Brown style. Maybe he knows it's hopeless.

This hasn't been mentioned here yet, but I saw that Oregon fired their University President recently. Wonder how much of that has to do with the Willie Lyles stuff?

That's probably part of it. The media isn't behind us anymore, we're not a traditional power, and our embarrassing loss in Ames is still fresh in voters' minds.

At the same time, I hope if we kill OU that he at least *tries* to make a case for us to play in the MNCG. Chances to play for it all don't come along very often.

Dear Ohio State:

You're welcome.

Signed,

Bowling Green Football (a.k.a. the guys who gave Urban Meyer the chance to be a college football head coach for the first time and had a ton of success with him until he bolted for Utah and screwed us royally)

Sounds familiar...

Dear Auburn:

You're welcome.

Signed,

Iowa State Football (a.k.a. the guys who gave Gene Chizik the chance to be a college football head coach for the first time and was given a good opportunity to turn the program back around until he bolted for Auburn and gave us a reason to get a good human fucking being for a coach) Dated: December 2009.

Is UCLA eligible for a bowl if they go 6-7, with the Championship game putting them under 500?

They'd have to apply for a waiver. Which apparently would likely be granted, in this specific circumstance.

Only one of the top 5 has to go. *winks at Cyan*

:/

I would be fine with that. Better than computer formulas and humans having the only say.

Yeah, then they'd have at least earned it on the field.

ULCA Fan Burin it out!

Also, though no one cares because it's Akron, but Firing the head coach while he's in transit to go to his Mother's Funeral???

Can't you wait 2 days???

I also included how thankful I was that Coach is no longer alive to see this debacle. I cannot imagine how difficult it was for Coach to be in the same room with someone as vile and self-centered as Guerrero.

That's funny, Wooden had no problem surrounding himself with vile human beings while he was alive!

Looking at draft prospects, I came upon some disturbing pictures of Alshon Jeffery looking really doughy. Is he still carrying that spare tire? Has he always had those weight issues?

If he's overweight in college, it's not going to be good when someone gives him millions of dollars

Every other year isn't too long of a wait.

Alshon's weight problem seemed to be this year only. Don't remember this last year.

His performance this year, in general, is why he might not see that 1st round money. Dude fell off the map entirely.

Usual Urban talk. Nothing really revealing. Clearly he would rather be coaching than anything else in this world. One of those guys who would prefer a heart attack on the sidelines to growing old in a rocking chair.

Was about to Comment on a reporter asking "how are you going to keep Ohio athletes from leaving the state and going to the SEC" then mentioned a particular player from Springfield going to Alabama ;P

wtf? "bolted" for utah?

did they seriously expect anyone to stay at fucking bowling green (the name alone..) when they get a way better offer?

thats like being pissed at a dude that "bolts" from the arena league when the nfl comes knocking.

edit: to be fair i dont know the story..how did he screw bowling green?

Holy shit was listening to the press conference on the radio. Urban was talking, then silence, then calls for the ems in the background, I almost shit my pants.

Thanks for the reply. I thought this year's production issues were from the bad QB situation until I read up on his weight. He was supposed to be the alternative to Blackmon, who I like, but not as a top 5 guy. Just not in the class as Crabtree and Dez
