There are phrases repeated over. And over. And over again that I just can't stand. "So that's the power of the Monado!" Well duh bitch, I've only been using this fucking thing for the last 90 hours! Granted, an American cast wouldn't change the frequency of the stupid sayings, it would only make it less annoying.

I mean shit, one of the sayings even made it into the OT thread title. "What a bunch of jokahs!"

Eh, comes with the territory of JRPGS!

MARCHING BOOTS! DANCING RHAPSODY! GRIN VALESTI CAN YOU HEAL US!
GET BACK! POWER! GET BACK!
SIDE KICK DIMENSION DOOR SIDE KICK DIMENSION DOOR

Infinite Undiscovery, Kingdom Hearts.....Star Ocean 3?

I'd rebuy this game just for American accents.

I actually like the dubbing more with the British accents. It wouldn't surprise me if they kept them.

Good they're sort of releasing it. I imported my copy, so I won't buy it again. And of course there's plenty like me who if they would have released the game like they should have, would have participated in this type of release.

So now they'll do this limited release, everyone who would want the niche run already imported it and won't buy it again, sales fail, and then Nintendo of American pulls an Ubisoft like self fulfilling prophecy

The game was first announced at an E3 some years ago, where it was indeed called Monado, which made it official.

And it was also Monado in Japan at that point, too.

Let's just say that no one's ever asserted the Monado name after it was changed to Xenoblade in Japan. It's just that the old title languished on American release lists in limbo.

Anyway.. ;)

Good news, but I hope Canada is in on this too >:(

Nintendo.ca store, yes. Gamestop/EB Games, maybe.

(I keep having to answer this question.... shouldn't probably be edited into the OP ;)

Completed colony? I'm only a few hours in, but is there a Dark Cloud/Suikoden-eque section where you rebuild a town? If so, I must immediately return to this game.

Hell yeah. In fact, it's the only way to complete some quests in the game.

I bought Electroplankton this way, so may as well buy a copy of this, even if I'll never end up playing it.

Haha, that's great. To be honest though I love how the characters talk with and encourage each other during battle even if it does mean we hear repeated lines. It sounds even better when they don't just say random stuff and instead respond to each other.

Then NoA won't bring the next one and it will your fault.

There's such a thing as too little, too late and this is dangerously close. I'm happy its coming over, but saying it's the fans fault for not buying two copies when NoA launches this game more than six months after the EU release and announces it five months after isn't fair.

Any sales Nintendo of America lost to Nintendo of Europe was entirely their fault.

How cutscene-heavy is Xenoblade, btw?
If you explore each area you can spend tens of hours without encountering anything that qualifies as one. if you rush through the main story then they'll be more frequent but nothing annoyingly so. And you can mix it up depending on your mood of course.

I really don't see why anyone would have expected a new dub. It's not like there's ever a specific brittish dub for other games when they're released in europe. Do british accents really sound so strange to americans that they can not bear to listen to them in a fantasy/sci-fi game.

The dub was pretty good compared to most JRPG dubs, so it's not like it really needs a new one either. (Though I couldn't stand all the talking and shouting in the battles after a while so I had to switch to japanese where it's easier to just ignore it)

So they're just going to release the EU copy here? I doubt they are going to redub the game. Its already in English. Also, they are only selling it at gamestop and nintendo.com? That seems like they aren't going to ship that many copies. I see a shortage again, just like online sells.

To the people that haven't played it yet, go preorder now. Best jRPG this generation, maybe all time.

I'm excited since I gave NoA till the end of the year to announce this or I would stop worrying about it and import.

Glad I did as I would rather not deal with having to mod the Wii.

Damn! I mean, as much as I'm excited for this and all... I bought one from Europe months ago! Fuck! ... Welp, there goes another $50. A bit late, isn't it NoA? Seriously. FUCK! I will learn to wait till the bitter end next time. :lol

Am I up for a double dip? You bet I am... just please change the Voices. :(

hopefuly they just go with the british dub, i'll be very surprised if they change it especially for a limited release

Question about customization. As per the video I'm assuming correctly that whatever you choose to wear is reflected in cutscenes?
Yep. There is a bit more to it than that too (minor observation/it was spoiled like this in the OT too...we're too sensitive maybe)
flashbacks remember what armour you were wearing at the time the scene originally took place, nice bit of attention to detail

Speaking of American accents...if they were to re-dub (which they won't) they don't need to change one character as Carina Reeves can do attempt an American accent (its like the enthusiasm drained from her...)

In other news of bad typing I found the lost Xeno-game: Xenoball It appears to be the name of an old DOS game and this game which or may not be a remake. I've probably lead NOAs ninjas that read GAF to their next victim. :( Yeah bedtime for me...

I don't blame Nintendo for being coy about Xenoblade until now. There was a possibility, distinct as it was, that Xenoblade could have cannibalized Skyward Sword sales a bit if they announced it earlier.

It looks like the Wii will end on a strong note after all. :-)

I don't see why people would even speculate otherwise regardless of the size of the release. Has any game ever actually had different voice tracks in brittain and US? I heard they changed the voice for Luke in Prof Layton when it was released in EU, but I don't think they've changed anyone else, and he's got a brittish accent in the american version as well, though a more generic one.

Now I'm curious to see how many copies the game will sell after so much begging.

It's not really fair to call this game a success or not when it comes out considering the history of the game's release and the fact it's only being released at Gamestop and Nintendo.com

IIRC,I remember "It's gonna be the same version that was released in europe"

no excuse. we'll see when it flops in april. 300K+ or bust.

?? How is that not an excuse. Walmart alone takes a significant portion out of overall video game sales and I would imagine quite a bit of the Wii software sales.

EDIT: Perhaps I missed some sarcasm. 300k seems like a lot for what looks to be a limited release.

Would you like to get a Game Informer subscription, Preorder Dudebro 3, get a COD:Elite subscription, or pick up a copy of Xenoblade for the Wii?

I've been just as unsure as everyone else, but at the same time this is nothing new for Nintendo. Once upon a time most of the major game mags had to get together to send Nintendo a message regarding their openness with the press. Reasons included not having access to media for upcoming games and, yes, not even knowing the release dates of new titles until a few days/weeks/months in advance. Thankfully they've changed in a lot of ways, but in others, they clearly have not.

Not to dismiss the passion of Operation Rainfall folks or anything, but I'm afraid this is probably just another case of Nintendo being Nintendo.

I still had some confidence it would come over even after Nintendo acknowledged rainfall with icy cold indifference. I remember thinking the same thing for Disaster though and we all know how that turned out. I love MonolithSoft's work and this announcement has seriously made my day.

I look forward to knowing what this actually means but I get a good laugh out of it anyway. Reyn wristwatch gamestop pre-order bonus anyone?

GAF, if you have ever liked an RPG: buy this game. The level of exploration calls to mind (and exceeds) Skies of Arcadia, which is also a pretty decent game.

Bought the UK version, if I buy it again it'll be purely as a show of moral support. Still, after 100+ hours, it's worth every penny!
