I know that, I just wanted to see at least a chapter or two dedicated to him being a bad-ass (and not him being a zombie fighting the 3rd)
 
Hmmmm so he refused and Shirahoshi is Poseidon...? She will have to join the crew now to be honest....there is no way she can be "protected" unless she goes with them.

In reality, she really is too big, but that would kind of make sense considering word will get out and the WG will seek to kidnap her.... To be honest, since Jinbei refused (I thought he would accept, its a bit predictable that he refuses....) I honestly favour her joining over him... Why should they wait for Jinbei? They have more important things to do in the NW
 
Everyone refuses Luffy's formal request initially.

What is Jinbei's duty? If its to protect Fishman Island, I guess Luffy may still destroy it just yet.

Fuck yeah at Jimbe not joining! The whole Poseidon thing does kinda sorta make sense if you think about it. The way I see it now, the ancient weapons are basically the Sea Kings, which according to a couple of chapters ago, have been alive for a long time, probably during the void century. Using the same logic/magic which created the Devil Fruits the lineage of the the crown of Fishman island sometimes ends up with a person who can control these creatures. So perhaps Shirahoshi isn't the weapon per se, but the person who is capable of wielding the weapons.

Also, don't we know from Franky's arc that Pluton is in fact a ship (or at least something constructable)?

Uhhh... I'm suprised I'm one of a few people who expected Jinbei to refuse Luffy initially, much like nearly every other member who joined.

The refusal is not set in stone until they leave the island, it never is.
 
I don't know why the Anti Jimbei brigade is getting so happy. It's not like the Strawhats have left the Island without him or anything.
 
I can feel he's not joining. I was feeling it last week as well.

I still don't find it to make any sense to have any member of the crew who has already been in the NW. As simple as that.

Anti-fishman hatred is irrational, of course they'll celebrate like crazy at any moment their fringe position seems to somehow get support.

Why? That's the equivalent of saying it doesn't make sense to add crew members who are already on the Grandline, the New World is jus an area of the sea just like everywhere else.

How the hell 1-7 tails are overwhelming the the superior 8 and 9 tails? At least we will se Kakashi and Guy in action. I hope Kakashi opens his chakra gates too.

it is what it is, when the spoilers for pain got first released it was spelled as pein. So I registered as pein, I'm not gonna change it now.

Excited to see Guy and Kakashi do something, they might get over shadowed but I'm so tired of rasengans.

I also find it dumb to recruit someone from the new world who knows the locations and there would be no surprise in expecting what to find on new islands, since Jimbei would have already told them what they can find on the island. The journey will lost its mystery and the adventure would be rather boring since Jimbei already knows what to expect. At least that´s how i see it.

Not sure how I feel about the 7 swordsman getting done off panel, while I'm glad that no more panels are actually wasted on what would definately be "full of shit I don't care about", I'm a bit saddened that they never got properly fleshed out and never will.

Apart from perhaps Robin (who still hasn't proven otherwise) no one has been further in the GL than the Strawhats have been. It provides the constant element of surprise to the crew who have no idea what's coming up. Chopper had never left Drum, Robin could've possibly been around but never really reveals much. She seemed to be just a surprised when they encounter something strange in the GL. Franky may have been around the first half GL as well but their supposed next stop after W7 was Fishman Island (which we know he hasn't been to because he didn't know about coating) -> NW.

This needs to be a journey of discovery for all of the crew. Having a former Shikibukai who would have indubitably been around the NW doing some pirating and stuff would be anti-climatic in my opinion. Sure, Oda may turn this on its head again, but that's my point of view.
 
Whether Jimbei joins or not depends of Luffy's reaction, no? If he's like "Oh cool I appreciate that" then most likely Jimbei won't join. If he's "Doesn't matter, adventuring's cool lol join!" then yeah it's like the rest of the crew.

I want to see how Jinbe explains his "duty" in the actual chapter. He left FI two years ago because he's no longer allowed there and was technically in hiding until halfway through this arc, with apparently nobody except maybe the princes knowing that he was on the island.

As has been noted by people during this arc, Jinbe would be endangering the FI treaty with the Celestial Dragons if he stayed there, so I have to wonder if the chapter will address this.

I'll elaborate on what I just said one post above yours, the log pose acts in a way that you can travel the grandline multiple times and go a different route each time even if there is only one destination at the halfway point, I highly doubt the New World will be any different, and I doubt even further that Jinbei has seen it all.

Jimbe has been around a long time. I'm sure people like him and other veterans don't just pick a log pose and traverse it once. Jimbe had no where to go. He hasn't show any interest in reaching Raftel or the end of the GL so he's probably been floating around from island to island. Sure he may have to return back to FI and leave again to get a different path but I see no reason why someone of his position wouldn't have followed more than one line throughout his life.

This man has my same view.

Again, I would like to emphasize that it's not that I don't like Jimbe, or that I'm specicist against fishmen or anything silly like that. I want all the crew to be oblivious to what's coming up next. Imagine reaching the island of lightning that Uroge(?) reached and having Jimbe say: "Oh yeah, this happens because of this and this, here is how to survive this." If he doesn't do that, then his silence would just be a plot device. Sailing around with plot devices doesn't appeal to me.

To be fair to the kages, they are handling a guy who is far more powerful now (Rinnegan, Mokuton, Edo Tensei immortality) than when he was owned by Harishama (EMS). If it wasn't for the Rinnegan, Edo Madara would be defeated already by Oonoki, Gaara and Naruto's combo.

Ginjou shot a cero from the tip of his sword. The triangle drawing means that it´s a cero. Ichigo used as a bait to lure Ginjou. Poor Ichigo being always a pawn for the big boys.

I don't see how he could have only been doing that exclusively in the New World he fought Ace before Ace met Whitebeard for example, if he has no interest in Raftel why bother going into the New World multiple times? Besides it's not like every island is going to be a surprise, there's still that island of the giants for example, and Fishman Island was foreshadowed for ages.
 
One Piece 649 Spoilers:

I'm glad Robin got her "research" time in this arc at least. The Princess being Poseidon sets up a future arc where she is going to get captured though. That will probably be the time when Jinbei joins the crew, which by then Oda will have hopefully "fleshed out" Brooke more (no pun intended) and have fully built up the "time skip" Straw Hats.

Ironically this past weekend one of my friends was telling me what has been going on in Naruto since I stopped reading and he brought up the Obito theory. And I told him Madara/Tobi being Obito wouldn't serve any purpose unless Kakashi was around to see him unmasked. smh.
