2011 NFL Week 14 |OT| It's Time To Slay the Dragon!

Now we all know the packers are beastly but do you guys think its better to play them at home or away?

For example, (and I may be putting the cart way in front of the horse here), lets say the 49ers get second seed and somehow make it to the NFC final game against the packers. I almost think my niners have a better chance in Green Bay then in SF because conditions in SF are 9 times out of 10, going to be perfect. And perfect conditions means Rodger's air assault is nigh unstoppable. In Green Bay, it might be snowing like crazy.

Yeah, the 49ers (if they make it that far) have a slim chance of beating them anyway. And the crowd is hostile but the snow might be just enough to throw both QBs off, letting the niners' defense help even things out.

Receivers have an advantage in bad conditions and the Packers as a whole are more acclimated to those types of games.

Imagine little hands trying to hold a ball in the snow!

I can't even imagine what Alex Smith "a little off" would look like, assuming what he has been giving you for the past few years is "on."

Can you please further elaborate on the bolded?

And yeah, I still get so nervous whenever Smith throws a pass. I swear, I'm going to have multiple ulcers by the time this season is done.
 
Raiders coach Hue Jackson just announced that running backs Darren McFadden (foot) and Taiwan Jones (hamstring) and wide receivers Denarius Moore (foot) and Jacoby Ford (foot) will not play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

Can't believe the Raiders are going to beat the Pack missing half the roster. Especially all the secondary help missing on defense. Gonna be heart breaking for Rodgers.

The receivers know where they're going/supposed to be.

In general (this assumes the receivers have some level of body control) the receivers are at an advantage as they are proactive. The defense is reacting to their actions. The receiver knows when he is going to cut and can prepare himself for the cut. The defender has to react and is thus less prepared to make the same adjustment. On rough turf, in bad weather and in poor conditions, this gives the receiver the advantage. In a vacuum. Now, that can be negated by the harder ball, the generally more poorly thrown balls and the reduced visibility (the receiver has to see the ball, the defender just needs to see the receiver) but I doubt it will be a blizzard, so that's unlikely a problem.

If the ground is poor, it's generally a bonus for route-running receivers. Speed is negated, size is premium...generally receivers are bigger than d-backs.

For those reasons (and an utmost confidence in McCarthy to bench Rodgers for Flynn come playoff time) I have no worries about the conditions.

Weather will only be a factor for Packers offense if it is like the weather in Cleveland from the Browns/Steelers game in 09 (-40 with 30-40 mph winds) or if there is an actual snowstorm during the game.

Otherwise I agree with ez that the weather shouldn't be a factor. Now if you get the above shit weather then the Niners win in a rout because if we are playing that kind of football they are a better team. Otherwise they lose 19 out of 20 to the Packers.

Honestly though if it is -40 with 40 mph winds will the Niners even show up to the game? I could see them forfeiting.

That's funny, that guy made it on t.v. I'm not sure which quarter it was but the first thing I noticed in the crowd shot was a guy wearing a Browns starter jacket.
