And there goes down the first hero. The fight was pretty cool and shota elf had to struggle to win. The hero himself wasn't that interesting power wise, but I liked the backstory they have gave him.

I still love how the only time shota elf is weak is when he can't see the moon. It's a very lame way of making him struggle in his fights. I mean he could have owned the hero in 2 seconds if he had access to his black swords.

Oh yeah, that butterfly whatever wings transformation is pretty hilarious.

Somehow I feel like...this belongs here...

It needs to be seen.

Its a damn shame there aren't any good OP games on the market. Naruto has storm and Bleach had Heat (which was pretty bad, but better than what OP had!)

There is no middle ground in this fucking thread.

Bleach (a character driven manga) had 2 years concentrating on side characters, build them up, show personality, powers, philosophy, and people whine about it. (i am not saying the Fake Karakura arc was not long, but my point still stands)

Naruto (a plot driven manga) concentrates on a very few characters who are relevant to the plot, and no the Konoha 11 sans Naruto and Sasuke are irrelevant to the plot. Even Sakura. And people whine about it.

It´s screwed if you do concentrates on side character in this thread and screwed if you don´t. There is no middle ground whatsoever.

So

side characters most don't give a fuck we are seeing in one.

side characters most actually give a fuck seeing were not shown in another.

whats the problem here?

Which side character did you not see you wanted to see? This sounds like code for "Rock Lee." I don't know. I just don't get the love.

The problem with Naruto is that it went from being character driven to randomly being plot driven, and the plot really is all over the place.

Kishimoto spent time building up these characters that we grew to like in Part One. And then completely abandoned them in Part two. LAME.

I don't just want to see Rock Lee, I want to see Neji, Hinata (yep, I do), Shino, Kiba, etc. etc. This story shit is not what I signed up for.

Bleach has always been and still is character driven. Once you get past its sometimes god-awful pacing, what it really comes down to when it comes to people liking it is whether or not people like the characters.

yep this is my main problem with Naruto for the most part, it's really sad how shafted they got. It's worse than when Dragonball forgot Yamcha

I guess some people just can't take that certain characters don't have any more character arc to tell. Hence why we have different characters like Killer Bee and Yamato and Sai now. At some point it just isn't plausible that all these characters are even remotely as powerful as Naruto is supposed to be.

I respect Dragonball and all that, but fuck that shit is overrated. At the point they went all Giorgio Tsukalos and said, they have tails because aliens, it was pretty fucking meh.

I can give Toriyama a pass on a lot of the tropes he used given DB's importance, however. I can also give him a pass given it's a well known fact he wasn't planning to go much beyond the Namek part if he had a choice.

Seriously, Nisioisin is on meta-fire with Medaka Box right now

I have to let nostalgia go on this but yeah, honestly, the Big Three are better than Dragonball ever was, but I do think Dragonball gets action and humor right while Naruto and Bleach struggle with this

Yep that is a problem and unlike Bleach and OP the bad guys really don't have people that are much weaker in there group .
So they can't get any fights because of that and most people don't like it .

(We'll just accept that Dragonball starting with the Saiyan Arc is "DBZ")

Maybe Dragon Ball, but I basically remember DBZ taking itself quite seriously.

Wolf Guy

Volume 2

Pros:
  • The teacher is so ungodly hot goddamn brb gonna fap.
Cons:
  • While not as bad as the inner monologues of Twilight, this is very similar...matter of fact I feel like this author was probably inspired by it (it's still a pretty big book in Japan) and decided to insert a male-fantasy twist on it. Literally this could be written by Stephanie Meyers if there was no rape in this manga, every dialogue piece and plotpoint.
  • The fights are fucking stupid, why the fuck is he fighting a fucking lion in the middle of a street? WHY DOESN'T MORE PEOPLE SEE THIS? How well can these guys hide?
  • Shut the fuck up, Wolf Guy. Everytime he talks it makes the manga shittier, everytime.
Status: Still not as bad as Itachi Pursuit arc

Not in Buu arc...I'm probably the only one who highly enjoyed it cause the whole arc was a parody of the parts I didn't really like about DBZ, plus had interesting and sometimes funny character dynamics

I don't think people are asking them to be as powerful as Naruto but at least show how they were also growing, improving, molding themselves to become great ninjas. I think in part 2 kishi was like "yea i have no time for that shit" so they are improved off screen and shown when needed.

Its kinda sad that the anime fillers seemed to have done more justice to those guys.

It is somewhat funny to see that amongst the Big Three right now only Naruto that is getting thrown around here and there during their fights with occasional funny expressions thrown in for good measure.

One Piece? Luffy is overpowering his enemies. Bleach? Ichigo just stomp all over Ginjou. Naruto? Gets thrown around all over the place, hahaha.

That's called fanservice and most people call it filler content when it's not their pet character getting the treatment.

He's beating on Ginjo, but he pretty much got owned by everyone recently short of using a BS powerup on Aizen. He just barely beat Grimmjow, barely beat what's his name using that bullshit super form, wasn't doing all that well against Gin (who probably wasn't trying) and beat Aizen with a cheat move.

How is it fan service when they were once major characters in the series? It's more like..continuation of their character arcs

Also protip: Fanservice can be a good thing!

You guys didn't read the latest Gintama arc, probably. So I'll just mention that no one does it better than Sorachi Hideaki.

I really want to read Gintama back again but after the anime start back i stop reading .
The last few arcs had me dying the one with the Gundam had me LMAO all the time.
I wonder how close the anime is to catching up to the manga.

Are you forgetting that luffy just got his ass kick for last 100 plus chapters before the time skip .
Both Luffy and Ichigo need to show off every now and then.

It's fan service because that's what fanservice IS. It's just putting them there when they have no purpose to be there. It's not a character arc for Rock Lee to just randomly fight someone again. Hell, I though the Shikamaru/Ino/Choji fight derailed their character arc by taking a satisfactory ending to the Asuma thing and just flogging its corpse to pad some chapters.

They don't need to be, it can adopt the One Piece system where everyone gets a fight at their "level" while Naruto can go off and take on the big bad, it doesn't help that the manga went from character driven in part 1 to story driven in part 2 either, because the story is just plain scratch your head type stuff at this point.

The Pain fight could have turned out like that for example, but it ended up being Naruto taking on all 6 at once.

I call bullshit. Two seriously flawed series and one modeled after DBZ except with more plot armor? This is not better.

That's an Eigen Plot and there's too many characters for it to work in a 17 page weekly.

Medaka Box 127 - That final page was just too much. I wonder if we should believe it though. I mean, that gives it, what? Around 15 chapters of stuff?
Realistically, ending by chapter 140 most likely the week before the anime airs?
.

Geez guys that is why I said right now. It just strikes me as funny that Naruto gets thrown around like a dork while both Luffy and Ichigo overwhelm their adversaries like a boss on the latest chapters.

Well, to be fair to him Naruto's foes right now are much more formidable respective to the series compared to lame fishermen pirates who can't even scratch the strawhats or Ginjou who borrows Ichigo's powers in the first place.

Like the Sasuske retrieval arc you don't have to use all the characters at once mainly because they often go off and do missions so unlike One Piece the characters won't neccesarily be in the vicinity all the time, just the characters that are suitable to the situation like Rock Lee taking on the pain that sucks out chakra for example, or Shiba taking on the Summoning pain. And then use Shino for some other arc later down the line etc.

Or throw in a bad match up and have them overcome it etc, Kishi has plenty of options he could have used.

Like not having a ninja war. Keep the conflict tight so you don't have to introduce over 9000 new characters who will never matter ever again.

Fullmetal Alchemist

I saw volume 27 a couple days ago. I noticed at the end of the book, there's a little omake where
Hohenheim and Trisha are finally reunited. It was a nice way to wrap up the franchise. It was a bit strange seeing Hohenheim so happy though.

That arc wasn't even good. It would be ludicrous if either Kiba or Rock Lee was capable of fighting any path of Pain.

REAL vol 4

God damn Tora is the fucking man. He is such a fucking bro
j2Ei3.jpg

More backstory on Togawa and how he got introduced to wheelchair basketball. It was pretty great seeing him trying to overcome depression with never running again. And I feel sorry for that kid who will die by age 20. Must really suck living with a timer.

The current Tigers team are just bunch of dick heads. Just disbanding the team like that. Luckily Togawa is invited to the national team.

No Takahashi this volume at all. Makes sense since the last 2 volumes were centered around him. Nomiya is still dicking around. I wonder how long it will take him until he gets back on track.

One Piece

Ohmylanta, you mean a chapter that has revelations on what is happening outside shitman island makes for a more interesting chapter that gets people excited about where the series is going? Who'd have thought! Seriously though, I enjoyed this chapter but before I get into that, I have a few big disappointments about a few of the revelations.

First off, I gave Oda way too much credit on story building. I predicted way back that the 'candy' was really the drugs Hodi's gang was using and that would have been a nice involved tie-in for Big Mama to FI and purported some notoriety and intrigue to Big Mama's character for supplying and endorsing said drug. Instead, it turns out to be actual candy. FI citizens are under the impression that Big Mama would wreck their land over fucking candy....are you kidding me? Who came up with this? A five year old? It sure makes Big Mama sound like a freakin moron and douche of a character. Yes, I know she will most likely take a liking to Luffy and won't end up all bad but I really feel Oda dropped the ball on this portion of the plot. If it wasn't for the Poseidon thing, FI arc would have been completely pointless, no ties to anything outside of it's realm. A racism plot, nothing more. At this stage in the game, a place that delays them getting to the New World better have significance but that Poseidon plot just might do it, we'll see.

Other complaint: Black Beard. I don't know why I thought his ability would only allow him to steal one other. Maybe because he will otherwise be broken beyond all measure and I thought Oda couldn't possibly go there. If BB can absorb any and as many powers as he wants, he's god. No one can touch him. Eventually, all the SH's admirals, Dragon, whoeveryouwant could fight him all at the same time and it wouldn't matter. WTF is Oda thinking? The one thing that could save this is if BB indeed can use his power to transfer a new ability onto another person and is only getting abilities for his crew, sticking with the two powers we last saw him with. I'll wait and see how it really turns out before I assume Oda just killed the endgame battles but it's not looking good after the revelation this chapter.

Now for the good, I too enjoy the world building and it was pretty cool to find out Akainu and Iceman fought each other. BB becoming an emperor was obvious and a good development. It's fun to speculate as to who the new Admirals will be as well. I would think Smoker has to be one of them. Magellan is a cool character but I don't think he'll get a nod. Mudman finally showed up and the chapter ended with a nice cliffhanger. Hopefully Big Mama arriving will tie-in with the SH's leaving for the NW. Thank god the Hodi crew shriveled up, now we don't have to worry about them shitting up any more of the series.

Bleach

Was over in the blink of an eye. Looks like Kubo didn't prove me wrong, Ichigo vs Aizen 2 was a shit battle. The only good thing to come out of this whole chapter is the flashback. I'm actually interested in seeing the two Aizens interact and how they met.

Naruto

Kishi actually remembered Seuigetsu and Juugo? Guy and Kakashi stalling a few of the jinchuriki seems like a plausible thing for them to pull off that would actually help Naruto and Bee take out a few of the bastards. The best thing that came out of the chapter for me was the development for the bijuus. I too was annoyed at how easily the nine tails just started catering to Naruto but the comments by the 8 tails about how they all have emotions and contact each other, etc. gives more credence that the nine tails could be turned. It makes him a little more humanized and gives him character. Sure it's nice having an uncompromising monster full of hate but let's get real, he was going to have to work with Naruto to the degree the eight tails does Bee for Naruto having any chance of coming out on top. I think fleshing out the bijuus a little bit is a decent way of achieving this. Better than a full bijuus have feelings arc! I'll actually enjoy the nine tails fully cooperating with Naruto at last, their life force is tied together, they should fight as one.

HxH

Can't wait for this dumb election to end but awesome cliffhanger! Can't wait to see Kalua and Illumi fight next week.

Fairy Tail

Face Palm! I would have much rather had the vastly overused cliche of a time chamber than this bullshit. Ultear has time powers, so make a fucking hyperbolic time chamber! That would make a trillion times more sense than her triggering some random magic reserve no one in the entire planet knew about. Did I say face palm already? face palm.

Why would it be ludicrous to show they've grown as much as Naruto has?

Because they *shouldn't* have grown as much as Naruto has?

I see Freshmaker's "lol genetics" thing, but it's kind of the point in many shonen that the protagnist is special. It doesn't make sense that the entire village including Kakashi and the Hokage, but the Konoha 11 random members can fight them.

I mean, fuck Hinata tried and got fucking owned. That's kind of the point...he surpassed them a long time ago to the point he's literally the most powerful and important person in the whole Fire country. I mean, sure it's power inflation, but welcome to modern shonen.

"Hard work" is no more :(

I totally "get" that argument, but it's a fair point that Naruto as a world is based primarily on people having genetic advantages. That was kind of the point of Rock Lee's personal arc; he was basically assured he'd have to go be a plumber of something until he got good enough at taijutsu to become a ninja.

Beelzebub

Such a fast chapter. Seeing Toujou and Oga both fight is pretty awesome. Jabberwock is still fucking strong but I really don't want him to lose next chapter.

Also I will be really pissed if Toujou is already out. He didn't even get his own fight.

Name one reason why they shouldn't have, ONE.

It doesn't make sense that the entire village including Kakashi and the Hokage got individual owned by each path of Pain, but the Konoha 11 random members can fight them.

Naruto is in the conversation for strongest person in the entire ninja world.

True but what was interesting was that the MC himself was kinda in the same boat and still kicked ass regardless, but now hes become part of the 99%

That's because they never should have.

Also Naruto wasn't the strongest person in the entire ninja world in Part 1, this wasn't really established till the Pain arc

'AS' much or 'like' Naruto? Because the diffrence is obvious.
I like how everyone's like, "Naruto didn't learn anything off training with Jiraiya," and then "Everyone should be as strong as Naruto is" (considering this was at the Pain arc when Naruto hadn't learned Sage Mode and wasn't particularly powerful) If they all learned nothing, then they ARE at Naruto's level =V

I don't even agree we haven't been shown this on some level. They're clearly jonin or high level chuunin.

That's because they never should have.

Well no, he wasn't. I'm not following your underlying point, here. He got stronger after learning Sage Mode and using the Kyuubi. The problem with re-writing the Pain arc in that manner is then people will complain Naruto only beat gimped Pain; in fact, they already did, just read OT1 for the endless pages on it.

You have to understand that it's while it has a large cast, it's still a series called "Naruto" with a very clear main character.

My point is that Naruto should've had the main cast reunite and all level up in sequence with each other similar to most shonen manga out there. There's absolutely no reason to why Naruto should be automatically superior to them aside from crap plotpoints made up in Part 2. The only advantage he should have is that he's the protagonist of the story at most
