NHL December |OT| The Team You Cheer For is Not Good Compared To Our Team

Anyone hear what Lindros had to say about concussions? He was saying how since the lockout, everything was done to speed up the game thus giving the players less time to react to hits that are coming with more force than ever before. He suggested putting the center ice line back in to slow down the game.
Bring back Devil's hockey!? HELLLLLLLLLLLLL NO!

I'd rather see the NHL collapse than see this put back in.

This.

Bruins know how to play physical hockey without getting penalties. I don't know how else to say it. They obviously dont take penalties like that every game. Its a part of playing Claude's "system" which is defensive minded hockey with an emphasis on not getting out of position.

And when you do end up out of position throw your leg out.... :/

There's a difference between physical hockey and a dirty play.

Lol at that Steen goal. It was the NHL 09/10/11 goal of bouncing off the goalies back, except the goalie didn't square dance and fall on top of it-it actually went in.

Hold on, I'm not defending that play... I guess I wasn't clear because I only quoted Tabris' last response.

His original point was the Bruins were the 4th least penalized team last season and thats what I was speaking to not the McQuaid hit which was obviously outside the rules/system.

I was elaborating on his previous point and you guys were all quick to jump on an isolated incident. For shame.

If you want to back up Tabris and say the Bruins get less penalties than every other team because of some league wide conspiracy from the refs. Go ahead. I'm sticking to my point that good positional hockey will result in fewer penalties.

My post was in addendum to my original post above it where I noticed the history of no suspensions. I never actually thought there was a conspiracy for the Bruins before. The opposite though (against Canucks), definitely, but I won't get into that here as I know where that argument goes.

This last one though made me look up how much they were penalized and I was just saying that was surprising, but the true surprising stat is how little they've been suspended for so many suspect plays.

That is a more surprising stat, especially with how aggressive the league has been in dishing out suspensions. The penalty stat is unrelated and not relevant to any suspension discussion except to muddy the waters.

Just got back from the Jets/Caps game.

Terrible. Our Power play was useless. Essentially our offence was non-existant minus a few sputters in the 2nd and 3rd. (Our first period was the only thing that could be called "not utterly terrible") One of the worst live games I've ever been to. Noel's comments on the radio as I was driving home were exactly how I felt.

Seriously... get the guys up and at the rink asap tomorrow and practice power plays till the cows come home. We need to have some teeth on these chances.

Both goalies were outstanding, however. Washington's goalie totally earned his shutout and was MUCH better than his last round here.

I don't get it. We were absolutely wrecked on Sat in Detroit, yet responded so well last Tuesday against the Wild. Then we were so flat tonight...

What will Saturday vs. Selanne and his Ducks bring for us? Aside from possible more cheering for Selanne than our team, I mean.

If you guys want to open the can of worms on the Foligno hit, lets hear it straight from the horse's mouth.

Nick Foligno said:
"I think Adam was just trying to stop me from getting around him and I don't think he realized his knee was out that far, and he clipped me," Foligno said Wednesday night. "I think it looks worse than it was."

Adam McQuaid said:
"I certainly would never intentionally try and do anything to hurt him or anyone else. I was just kind of pinching in and trying to keep the puck in and he made a kind of a quick move around me and I was just trying to do what I could to get in his way."

Draw your own conclusions.

Sharks game was crazy, really needed that win. Pavs off the schnide, Juicy with two points, and Havlat with a two assist game.

I'm a Flyers fan and I had both Giroux and Pronger on my fantasy team, so all of this recent news has been very hard on me.

The Flyers have shown they can win without Pronger. Lots of time left before the trade deadline, so they're free to just sit on what they have for now and see what happens. I've got a lot of confidence in Holmgren right now to do what's right for the team without freaking out and doing something rash.

Jesus christ the avalanche are playing godawful this season. Lack of cable has prevented me from seeing many games but the one tonight reminds me of another I saw back in october(?). They were up, and everything was going good and then they just let themselves get steamrolled in the third. What garbage. Something has to change, and I'm thinking seeing Sacco's backside would be a good start.

Not like you guys didn't beat us two days ago.

This year's 24/7 miniseries is proving to live up to last year's already with just the first episode. From Bryzgalov's thoughts to Torts giving Gaborik shit on the bench, I wish this series was longer than 4 episodes.

For next year's Winter Classic teams, it would be awesome if they did everything from when they announce it (which is usually during the summer) until the Winter Classic. Even better if they decide to go for a whole season.

24/7 is going to have Giroux and Pronger's concussion news, right?

They showed Giroux getting to the trainers room, where they shut the doors on the camera crew, and the next day with him getting more tests. Then confirmed that he has a concussion. Pronger was on it briefly in the beginning just to do a talking head bit.

Just finished watching the Habs game. Pretty entertaining, but frustrating as well. Our inability to score on the PP killed us once again. Loved DD and Cole. Frustrated with Pleks and Cammy. Kostitsyn also fanning on that chance on the PP sucked.

Great to see LeBlanc score his first goal. Not sure why he barely played in the 3rd though.

Martin: Rookin scores 1st goal...better put him in his place and leave him on the bench..

Havlat for Cammy, straight up.

You can't be serious Schuey. Doesn't Cammy have like one of the best snap wrist shots in the league? Plus a true playoff performer?

He probably just needs to be motivated again.

He's trying to help other teams keep up with the Leafs.

man i woke up feeling fucking fantastic this morning after witnessing the preds totally outwork, outplay and basically outclass the wings last night on the way to victory. its gonna be a beautiful day

If you guys want to open the can of worms on the Foligno hit, lets hear it straight from the horse's mouth.

Foligno and McQuaid played junior hockey together so they're not going to get into some battle of words in the media, he gave him the benefit of the doubt.

McQuaid pretty much says that Foligno made a quick move to get around him so he had to get in his way and the only thing he could do is stick his leg out. Since he plays for the Bruins he knows he can get away with it.

It was a stupid move and he's lucky no one got hurt. No admission of that on his part, just the old "I was making a hockey play I wasn't trying to hurt anyone !".

Oh well no one got hurt and he got Shanafined for pocket change. Not even worth it at this point.

He might be right, but I think the responsibility is on the players to stay away from heads.

If he got hurt what do you think would have happened? it was pretty blatant and it doesn't matter if they used to be bros or not and are playing it off in the media like it's no big deal. But really he did something that could cause the dude to be out 3+ months, which is a HUGE deal and he only gets fined $2500..!?That's like me cheating on a final exam, get caught, pay $25 fine but get to keep the grade (fuck my final analogy, finals on the brain).

Idk I just don't get it. We saw the same exact thing a week ago and the guy got suspended. If they want stupid plays to stop why not continue to be harsh so that players get the picture (EVEN THOUGH they should know clearly, so a warning

Double post, phone is fucked up (can't get to the bottom of my post on second apps lol..)

A warning shouldn't be needed for something as simple as this

Is this the same doctor who said Sid was a "Ferrari" and would never get a concussion again because they built him up better than Steve Austin aka the "The Six Million Dollar Man?"

I don't even understand why they would ever say such ridiculous shit.

Leafs-Age you'll have to hold it down for me tonight and tomorrow. Got a plethora of Christmas parties I'm going to, I'm not going to be anywhere near a computer to comment during the games.

Normally I'd be worried but over the years the captain and Manics have been able to assemble a great team here, I'm sure one of you will be able to pick up the slack while I'm gone.
