Wow, lots of people missing out on Boardwalk Empire. Weird.

Then again I haven't started watching Breaking Bad yet...

I think I watch too few shows to participate.

3. Curb Your Enthusiasm
4. Louie

2) Game of Thrones
3) Louie
4) Parks and Rec

I'd also add eastbound and down as others have, but I dont think it matches the criteria. S2 started in 2010 I think

So upon research conducted via my calendar I see have about 11 days to catch up with AGOT. It had better be killer, gaf.

It's fun, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If you dont, quote me and ridicule me. My taste has been fucking weird lately, so I just dont know anymore.

no one watched Terriers :(

It premiered last year. It would be on my list if it was this year.

Or what icarus said.

Not really a dog person.

I hope this is a dig at the terrible marketing for the show. But I never know with you.

Ten? Do people watch that much TV?

Just

1. Archer

for me. =P
There are 7 days in a week and most shows only run for half a year (or less). So, being generous, you're talking an average of ~45 minutes a day if all 10 shows are hour-long dramas or about 20 minutes if they're all half-hour shows. That's not really much TV at all.

This all, of course, assumes you ONLY watch 10 shows a year. Still, I find it fairly difficult to believe Archer is the only show you've watched this year.

A lot of cable shows have a maximum of 13 episodes per season. Enlightened (which is only a half-hour) and Game of Thrones only had 10. Someone mentioned Luther, which has a total of 10 episodes. Bored to Death is 8 half-hour episodes/season. It's not that big of a time commitment depending on what you're watching (at least for someone with few obligations or excess free time). Plus, with stuff like DVR/internet streaming/finding episodes online, it's easy to watch them at a time of your choosing rather than making them a regular part of your schedule every week. And I often have the TV on in the background while doing other things.

Ten primetime hour-long shows on network tv that have 20+ episodes/season may be a bit more time-consuming.

I wasn't trying to come off as hostile, and I really do appreciate you putting this together. Thanks for it.

No worries, and thanks! :)

Oh, and what are the rules for British series that aired in the UK and US in different years? Downton Abbey series 1 aired in the UK in 2010 but in the US in 2011, for instance.

Yeah, since GAF is a US based forum, anything that premiered in the US in 2011 would be eligible. Downton Abbey, Luther, etc. I really should have mentioned the rules for foreign series that aired in the US in the OP, but I didn't think of it. I went over and over the rules, trying to think of everything, but it just didn't occur to me. My bad. :(

Edit: Actually, do documentaries count? If so I will be adding Frozen Planet.

Yes sir!

Didn't Time have FNL on their list? I'd like to have it on mine... haha.

It does, but it very well could have been on their list for last year. I'm not sure why it wasn't, as other series that aired only half their season were included.

1.) East bound and down.

That's 2010. Sorry. :(

1: Game of Thrones

6. Doctor Who
7. Game of Thrones
8. Community

10. Supernatural

Honorable mentions to The New Girl, Grimm, Revenge, Breaking In, House (Despite lackluster pilots, Revenge excepted, the new shows have just improved leaps and bounds), Rizzoli and Isles and Person of Interest

1. Vampire Prosecutor. South Korean show that follows the traditional crime-solving format of CSI. Except the protagonist is a Vampire. What makes the show great is how grounded the whole thing is. There aren't a lot of weird vampire rules, Prosecutor Min's abilities are firmly established in the first episode, and, despite my synopsis here sound like, it doesn't really focus on him being a Vampire at all. It's more about his team and their ability to solve typically unsolvable crimes.

It's been really great watching it in near real time on Hulu, too. The season just ended on Sunday and we should be getting the finale here tomorrow.

2. Workaholics. There is something about this show that just hits my comedic sensibilities perfectly. The funniest show of 2011 for me.

1. Breaking Bad
2. Boardwalk Empire
3. Game of Thrones
4. Homeland
5. Louie or It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, I can't decide which one I like better as I love them both.

Then there's a bunch of shows that I really like that didn't make my top 5 like Sons of Anarchy, Justified, Shameless, Suburgatory, the Walking Dead and Raising Hope. I'd put True Blood and American Horror Story in my "I should know better but I can't help it" category.

I haven't had time to keep up with a lot of shows this year so this is about it for me for 2011:

1. Game of Thrones
2. Walking Dead
3. Parks and Recreation
4. True Blood
5. Workaholics

Ten? Do people watch that much TV?
At any given point during the year, I'm usually following only about 3-4 shows at a time.

Since most of the stuff I watch is on cable - and therefore only about 10-13 episodes - I switch into new shows about four times a year. So that means I typically watch between 15-20 shows per year, though never all at once.

1. Parks & Recreation
2. Breaking Bad
3. Justified
4. Louie
5. Regular Show
6. Workaholics
7. Portlandia
8. Enlightened

10. Game Of Thrones

Was wondering why Parks and Rec was getting so high remarks as this season has been sort of meh, then I realized last season was this year too. I now have to put this higher on my list.

Last season isn't eligible, as it did not premiere this year.

Also, please: remember to label your votes from 1-10. Otherwise they will not be counted.
