NHL December |OT| The Team You Cheer For is Not Good Compared To Our Team

Sorry, guys. Off topic:

Excited to watch the Canucks/Wings game tonight. Don't really care about the Wings losing (they're not going above 4th seed this season), but the Canucks need the two points as ever. Would be nice if we could take back the NW before the New Year. Anyway normally a fun game.

Wings have been red hot. Canucks will need their A game if they want the two points. I think their speed advantage could come in handy.

We've been red hot at home, road is another story, our last game we were lucky to win. If the Wings from our home games show up, we should have an intense and great game on our hands.

Pretty amazing to see how excited Boyce is to be back up with the team and playing tomorrow. Definitely the type of player we need on our 4th line.

It's not THAT ridiculous. His value is at its highest point now and Rask is your future goaltender anyways, I wouldn't personally do it but I would be surprised if he was traded to a team trying to make a run at the trade deadline for some good picks / prospects.

In theory what your saying I can agree with, but the Bruins have as good a shot at winning this year as anyone. How does anybody trade the reigning Conn Smythe/Vezina winner? And you have to trade him to a team that is competing against and that you may see in the playoffs? No way anybody makes that trade even if on paper it makes sense.

It's not a joke. Almost everyone around here wanted to trade Thomas.

I'm talking about this year. Last year those talks were justified.

If you're going to trade Thomas, you do it next season after you've just signed Rask and when Thomas is in the last year of his contract.

This makes more sense, but at this point I would like to see Thomas finish his career with the Bruins. Rask can wait his turn and when Thomas starts to show his age Rask can take over the number one role.

This kind of thinking makes sense to me when we're talking about forwards or dmen whose role may diminish, but not be replaced. If Rask is fit to take over the #1 role next season, I don't see why you'd keep Thomas around when he could snag you an excellent return and his absence wouldn't be felt TOO much. It's a great luxury having two #1 goaltenders, though, no doubt. *smug

Can't wait for tonight! Some pizza and beer with the bros, watching the game then some 24/7.

Shit that was off topic, ill just pm soc, my bad.

The Toronto Maple Leafs everyone.

Nah, I just think it's crap that people would try to screw over someone like this. Some ex-girlfriend is pissed off so tries to make him look bad. Sad being in the public eye sometimes.

If you appear on isanyoneup.com then you have nobody to blame but yourself. If you don't want nude photos circulating, then don't take them in the first place.

Shut up, Kesler.

Giroux is a game time decision tonight! Holy shit!

Yeah just saw that too. I'm kind of concerned. I really hope they're not rushing him back. Supposedly he's meeting his baseline testing though. Crosby never did that so it makes me less concerned we have the same problem. He probably was annoyed so many people tied his point total.

Haha yeah. I'm not too worried, he has been going hard in practice past 3 days and has had no symptoms.

Is he a largely competitive player? Will this make him eager to put up points tonight?

I need to know for... a friend... who sometimes gambles on thursdays.

I don't get the impression Giroux cares about points, no. I was just joking before. He absolutely hates not playing though. For all the talk Manics had about Crosby not enjoying being out, it seems so much more obvious with Giroux. He seems to genuinely despise seeing the Flyers out there while he sits. He gets really frustrated talking about it with reporters too.

heading out to the United Center for the game tonight, hopefully it'll be a fun O6 matchup.

also Habs-GAF should I bring my sunglasses in case I look in Lars Eller's general direction? don't want my eyes to explode from his greatness ;)

good game in advance

I'm not sure if hes like that but I'd imagine the team is going to be all sorts of pumped if hes back. Plus the lines will slowly go back to normal

O and Couturier was upgraded to Day to Day! This actually makes me happier than the Giroux news, though Giroux is obviously the bigger deal for the team. I just love watching this new kid.

Looking forward to the Sharks-Lightening game tonight, another team we really don't get to see very often. Sharks are a little banged up, hopefully we can still pull out a win because we need one.

Last years habs / hawks game was one of the best games of the year and one of the best goaltending battles I've seen in a while. With budaj in next and gionta out I'm not expecting much from tonight.

Why do we have to be so quick to push Thomas out the door? I don't think Rask should be handed the starter role until he shows he is a better player than Thomas. If Thomas plays out his current contract at this level of play I'd be fine not getting anything in return for his expiring contract.
especially after three-peating.

You kidding me? They absolutely weren't. Thomas is the most important player on this roster.

The fact that the Bruins at least "explored" the possibility of trading Thomas in the summer of 2010 is enough justification for me. But it's not like I'm making this up, Rask was given every opportunity at the start of that season and he lost it Thomas and the rest is history. Thomas only became indispensable over the course of that season/playoff run.

Looking at the standings it's probably just a matter of time before Minny starts dropping down.

They've got the most games played in the league, and still they're only 6th in the West in Regulation/Overtime wins. They're basically living on shootout wins and loser points.

Compared to Detroit who has only been in 2 games that haven't been decided after 60 minutes..

And there's no reason why that can't continue, all else being equal. What WILL bring them down is injuries and the fact that they can't keep up this goaltending insanity forever. They've already started to struggle.

I did say "if Rask is fit to take over the #1 role next season". If he's not, and you'd be jeopardizing your season, then you don't trade Thomas.

And when it does happen, Heatley will have more pressure than ever to perform even more than the subpar performance he's been giving so far.

It's nearly 2012 and people still think Seto is a legitimate first line player.

Seto was a first line player when he was on Throntons wing, same with Cheechoo. Not that Seto matters much this season anyway with his broken leg and everything.

With the Sharks he was, not to blow your tyres up or anything but (seemingly) Thornton can make anyone he plays with a terrific point producer.

And yeah, you can pretty much count him out for this season.

Seto isn't a legitimate first line winger, just like Burrows isn't.

Don't get me wrong. Burrows is awesome and a bargain at $2m. But he's on our first line because he complements the Sedins. He'd be on the second line for most teams.
