Like others that had more lead time on their books (Swamp Thing, etc.) who cares? That wasn't what the conversation was until you brought your obsession with DC editorial into it.

You speak in hypotheticals and live in the past too much. The book is amazing.
Hypotheticals and fond memories are all I have left of DC.

Knowing just how intricate and methodical his work is, if JH Williams hadn't started working on Batwoman one year ago, if he had been given the job two months before the reboot like so many artists, or even a few months beyond that, would we have seen four issues of uninterrupted artwork of this calibre from him? Delaying a monthly series' debut for nearly a year isn't an ideal example of "rotating art teams" done "correctly".

Come on man. :(

wtf DC don't have Leviathan Strikes for download? All the other releases for the week have just hit comixology, this one is conspicuous by it's absence...

God dammit I hope that isn't a real spoiler. Already had parts of Arkham City spoiled for me today and if the best Batman book just got spoiled I'm going to rage into the Hulk. Now I'm going to be reading the issue wondering if that's really going to happen. Ugh.

It's not. The WatXM one was, though.

Wow. I had an idea when you talk to Kryptonian, but now I'm fully aware of what a complete drama queen you are, Benjamin Birdie. It's gonna be a real struggle to keep posting knowing you won't be reading my posts, but I'll try to carry on somehow.

Can't believe Leviathan Strikes isn't available day-and-date digitally, unlike LITERALLY EVERY OTHER DCU TITLE RELEASED SINCE SEPTEMBER. What the fuck, DC.

Yeah, great, Morning Glories will keep the same creative team forever. God help us all.

You say that like its a bad thing.

If you ever think you're doing things the right way, do me a favor and solicit a new issue of Phonogram. I'll wait.

If as little as 1000 more people could be wrestled away from the nostalgia teat that are Marvel and DC comics I'm sure Gillen and McKelvie would let them.

That wouldn't allow McKelvie to get paid for his work as he does it, unless Gillen can afford to pay him out of his pocket.

im sorry but birdie trying to verify something so obviously fake and then spoiling himself anyway has got to be one of the funniest things ive ever seen in a comic book thread

come on man, even if you get "spoiled" you dont rush to the ending to MAKE SURE

:lol

God you COLOSSAL jerk. I just checked the last page and it wasn't him so now I was actually spoiled.

Welcome to my ignore list you terrible person.

I just recently subscribed to Wolverine and The X Men, Batwoman and New Avengers.

I have been out of Comics for a long time though, and was wondering if there was specifically any Tradepaper backs/Omnibus that I should go back and get when it comes to Wolvy or Batwoman?

I was thinknig of getting Enemy of the State because it looks like a fun read, but outside of that the only one that I've kinda looked at but don't own was Old Man Logan, and frankly that seemed pretty terrible.

Dunno about Wolverine, but for Batwoman you need to get Elegy, which leads right into her current stories.

Kind of regret buying the monthly JL issues. The story right now is really better read in a collection volume.

Also, Ult spidy's actual cover:

Why is Marvel's website always inaccurate?

No way is this post real. No one could have fallen for that. I refuse to believe it.

In other news: WatXM 3: comic of the week. Someone prove me wrong.

I'm glad everyone else found Birdie's reaction post as hysterical as I did. Who the fuck goes and checks the back of the book, after hearing (fake) spoilers!? Like if somebody told you Darth Vader was Luke's father, do you start skipping to the end of the movie to find out for sure!?

What the fuck lolol

I trusted Marvel's site for covers and release dates for too long. I thought I missed an issue when I saw it at the shop until I snapped myself out of it.

Alright, saw a Hardcover copy on Amazon if I'm not mistaken. I will try to pick it up if they still got any copies.

This might sound like a minor heresy, but I flicked through a paperback of this in the shop the other day, seemed like it would be a better way to read this run. JH Williams uses a lot of 2 page spreads which I personally find annoying in hardbacks with their tighter binding. Anyway, YMMV.

In other news, I've been reading a load of great comics this week. Read the first volume of Locke and Key the other day and it's fantastic. I wasn't expecting it to be quite so dark, so it was a pleasant surprise. Gripping and creepy, I could barely put it down. Also started reading American Vampire 2, that seems great so far too.

Started reading Dark Knight Returns (now on sale at Comixology for 4 bucks total) for the first time in nearly 15 years. Reads waaaay better as a grownup that has an extensive Batman knowledge. I must say, great as it it, I never understand why this is always suggested for new readers. It's so dense and unfriendly. I read it as a kid and hated it, much more impressed now.

Also been devouring this weeks' new releases. What an amazing week! Leviathan Strikes was insane and needs another read of the whole series very soon. Batman 4 was great, if a step down from last month's tour de force. Catwoman was very good as usual, and I think the art is even better than ever, the colourist especially has stepped it up a notch. USM finally seemed to kick into gear and I'm coming to understand Miles as a character more now too, he's very shy which is an interesting direction for Bendis to go. Wolverine and the X Men was brilliant fun, Bachalo just killed it on art this month, everything was so dynamic and cool looking, and that double page spread with the X Men was badass. Love Bachalo's Iceman too.

Still got so much more on the digital stack too. Amazing week.

Ridiculous. I'd believe Alfred was Leviathan before that nonsense.

Wow, you guys sure showed me.

I'm not as cool as you I guess.

Eh, I wouldn't sweat it dude.

edit: I should probably start using comixology. I like actual prints but damn comics stores are a pain in the ass to navigate to. They're always in college towns .-.

edit 2: dammit, ultimate comics come with digital codes next month

edit 3: son of a gun... I should have looked for Batwoman 1&4 today since I couldn't find W&tXM

For the record: the first thing I did with my copy of 'Leviathan Strikes' today was turn to the last page, to see if there was any truth to the Alfred rumors (which I had heard elsewhere even before today). So, I ended up doing exactly what Benjamin did, and spoiled the true reveal for myself. I'm not so worked up about it, but I can see where he's coming from: if those rumors had never started up, I wouldn't have ran ahead or even been tempted to run ahead in the first place.

And Bandit those jokers at the shop didn't save me a copy of Last Battle! No Brereton lovin' for me tonight! >:|

Hey, this is Comics-GAF! We don't fight here! We gush about Uncanny X-Force and brofist over the latest ish of Daredevil.

SPEAKING OF.

Uncanny X-Force #19 was shit hot. LOVED the characterization for AoA-Kurt. "I DON'T KNOW YOU! I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND." Shit was ice cold.

And Daredevil just put a big ol' smile on my face. Between the "I'm Not Daredevil" sweater, the crack about Spidey peeing his pants and, of course, the ever-amazing art by Rivera, DD is just good comics these days.

I think Nick Lowe said on twitter yesterday that UXF #18 was the sixth issue in a row with a 2nd printing.

People loving Remender's work should check out Venom as well. The dude just gets character voices unlike Bendis.

Daredevil is a book that doesn't the love it should get sales wise.

Rivera talks about switching alternating arcs with Martin, the stuff you guys were talking about earlier. He acknowledges being slow and if Marvel weren't using artists to alternate arcs we would never get his pencils on a monthly. If Marvel is gonna concentrate on double shipping, I would like them to continue to rotate art teams for arcs.

It's perfectly fine for me.

EDIT: Also if I had a steady income, I would buy the original work for the cover on issue 10.
