Green Man Gaming Thread: Save some green, man

Nothing in my email or on the GMG website about the SR3 preorder stuff. Figured it would've appeared for everyone by now and not be region dependent. In Australia FWIW.
 
so, customer service = not so good. I'm currently awaiting a second response. the games were preordered mid-september. Skyrim and school/work are eating up my time so i was just going to wait on the two games for now.

Yes, you can refund your pre-purchased game at any time as long as it's not been played. Your refund will be returned to you via the same method you paid, so if you used credit from your Green Man Gaming account, we will refund the credit.

That sounds pretty shitty. I wouldn't be surprised to see that blurb about refunds disappear before the night is out.
 
I eventually gave up trying to get them to refund my Renegade Ops preorder (despite the fact that I requested the refund a month before the game came out.) They kept saying they refunded it, but Paypal said they never did. In fact, because it was 45 days after I placed the order, Paypal said they couldn't refund it, they'd have to just send me that same amount of money back.

Paypal offered to continue pursuing this, but the next steps sounded pretty nasty for just $5 so I gave up and took the store credit (which I bought renegade ops with...sigh).

I would only pre-order from GMG if you are never going to cancel it because it seems like it is a crap shoot whether they will actually give you your money back or not.

Batman Arkham City is no longer eligible for refunds, as the keys are now live. Because these games were prepurchased in early September, we regret a refund is no longer possible.

I'm honestly a little shocked that you can't seem to follow your own policy on preorders. It specifically says that i can get a refund if I haven't played the game, as long as the game's page doesn't mention that the specific game is non-refundable. Neither of these games say that.

At a minimum, can I get store credit for Arkham City? I haven't downloaded the game or touched the key.

another update. at this point, they've lost me as a customer. I was never requesting exceptions, i only wanted them to follow their posted policy on preorders. I think that is a reasonable, baseline expectation for a customer to have.

How convenient of you to postpone my request until the key went live only to say that you couldn't refund or credit my account because the key was live. I requested the refund on Friday of last week. The truth about Batman is that I got an Nvidia code with a new GPU, so I didn't need the GMG preorder. I read your policy, and it said that I would be refunded (regardless of release as long as I hadn't played the game). The $10 credit would have been a nice gesture, but I literally don't need the game and have no use for it (so at this point I'm still at a negative $24). Is there a way for me to sell (or even give) a GMG key to someone else or is it tied to my account for good?

I was wanting to wait on Assassin's Creed, but at least I won't have duplicate games, so although this is an inconvenience, I'm ok with keeping that preorder.

I don't understand where I redeem my Batman code they e-mailed me today. For one, it says it will go live on the 25 Nov, 2011. Then they sent me another e-mail saying my activation date is today. Where can I redeem the code in GFWL?

EDIT: I think I figured it out.

I have a 128 GB SSD as my primary drive, and in addition to that bullshit, the Capsule deal went ahead and installed the game on my C:\ drive despite the setting that says to put it on a different drive. 16GBx3 Put onto my SSD. Yay?

I got some kind of error when trying to install batman. Something about the zip being invalid (not at the same pc right now). What the heck? Is there any validity check I can do like in steam or do i just have to redownload the whole damn 15 GB?

I requested a refund on my Batman pre-order last week as well, and they said they couldn't give it to me because too much time has passed. I didn't think to check the policy like the guy above me. I was just going to forget it all but now that I am being forced to wait until the 25th, despite being American, to even download the goddamn game, I am pissed off.

And now, their refund policy page is conveniently down (404). Ahahahha.

If it's a Steam key, you can pretty much do with it whatever you want (I think). City is a Steam title, isn't it?
 
Yea, you can't plug the key into Steam, so you would need to have the game data some other way I assume. Hell, I would be happy to turn over my whole GMG account at this point though, just to sell the game off for cheap and wash my hands of this service (City is the only game I've purchased with them anyway).
 
Well had a good run in with GMG's support today. I pre-ordered AC:R from them on Sept.18th . Anyway my friend bought me the PS3 version today, so I wanted to cancel my order, since I won't be double dipping and money could be spend elsewhere and etc.

I opened a support ticket to ask about the process, but was told that the Paypal returns policy has already passed (date). So I then asked for store credit. At which Rich responded that they've given me full credit for the pre-order and also left the game on my account (since I'm a good customer =)).

That's really nice of them and I honestly believed they didn't have to go that far, I would have been happy with store credit.

Anyway, just felt I had to give my two cents here aswell.

(Now if they could only fix up Capsule to actually work, then I'll be extremely Happy)
 
So, anybody actually got their unlock code for the Genki pack, when preordering Saints Row 3? Because mine is still MIA.

Check your "Keys" page on the website. I got my key there long before getting the email. It's possible the mail got lost in a filter somewhere.

I have it on the 360, it's ok but not for me despite being more fun in co-op. In terms of likeness to every other TT lego game, they're all pretty much the same. If you like the other lego games, and you like Batman then you can't go wrong.
 
got LOTR War in the North for $9.82. thanks for the heads up.

(i traded in 2 games that i got free from GreenmanGaming to get an extra $2 and change off. the games were Necrovision: Lost Company and some block puzzle game, i think. stuff i had no use for anyway).

Rather slim I think. It's sitting at € 40 in Steam. Got it for £ 8, so under € 10. I think 75 % off is the most we can theoretically expect from a Steam sale for a rather new game so at best it would break even. It registers on Steam too.

To cut a long story short, I sprung on the deal, ty for posting it :).
 
How do you gift through this fucking service? Can you really only buy a game once per credit card? How infuriating.

Saints Row The Third got a 50% reduction from its normal price (that is to say not from its RRP) using the voucher, assuming this, Batman: Arkham City will get reduced by 60% from £23.79.

£23.79 X 0.4 = £9.52.

THAT IS AN ABSOLUTELY INSANE PRICE!

Is this correct, or have I fucked up somewhere?

Seems so, even though it is discounted already. If the discounts stack, we're looking at 80% off. I bought it for £12 on Gamersgate, which was already a damn good deal.
