Regarding the low ratings for the main event of Raw, what did people expect when all of the guys in the match have been buried and treated as midcarders up until this show? Fans have been trained that Cena is the only main eventer in WWE. Rebuilding is a slow process and hopefully WWE gives the people in this match more time to shine before pulling the plug. Did everyone forget it took almost 2 years of putting on great Raws in 97 and 98 before they came back from their slump?

There's really not anyone else who's worth it, either. Cena? Yawn. Orton? No. They could have built up guys like Sheamus, Barrett, Ziggler (among others) over the years but repeatedly kept dropping the ball. Instead they will lazily rely on old vets.

Kevin Steen's open letter to Steve Corino & ROH;

In less than 48 hours, I'll be looking across the ring at someone I've admired for over a decade now, as we get ready to wage war on each other. I'll be looking at someone who I always considered a friend as he gets ready to referee the most important match of my life. I'll be looking ringside at someone who, as a kid, I used to watch on TV manage my favorite wrestlers like Davey Boy Smith and Owen Hart, never guessing that he'd one day try to ruin my career.

To say that the odds are against me is an understatement. But you know what? The odds have been stacked against me since the very beginning of my career. I never looked like someone who should be a wrestler. I never looked like an athlete. Yet I managed to work through those obstacles to become one of the most entertaining, unpredictable and appreciated wrestlers on the independent scene today. I have wrestled all over the world for many, many great promotions. What I am is a MUST-SEE attraction for any promotion I work for.

I thrive on being seen as an outcast and a nutcase. I thrive on having people try to sabotage my career because of how big of a threat I've become. I feed on all of that. So you can bet your ass I am absolutely thrilled about the way everything is shaping up for Final Battle.

Some of you might think, judging from my comments here and the comments I made in the last ROH Video Wire while hanging out in a kid's playground, that I am taking Friday night's battle lightly. Let me assure you, nothing is further from the truth.

I am confident. Not in my victory but in the fact that I will lay waste to several people, cause mayhem and chaos as only I can and finally bring back to ROH an aura of danger and imminent disaster that has been missing for too long now.

I do hope to walk out victorious. But I'm not going to be the guy that walks around saying ''when, not if, I win'' because the man I'm facing on Friday is Steve Fucking Corino. And until recently, I thought that man I was facing was nothing but a shell of the one I looked up to as I came up in the wrestling world. But last month in Chicago, and ever since then, I've noticed something in Steve's eye that had been missing since last year's Final Battle. I see glimmers of fear. I see glimmers of hate. I see glimmers of Evil.

Steve has been claiming that it will be the Corino of old fighting me in NYC. The one who bled buckets, sold out the Hammerstein Ballroom and fought as dirty as he could until he had nothing left to give. If that's true...if that's really the Corino that shows up in NYC -and I hope it is- then I can't be sure of my victory. But you can all be sure of one thing...

Violence is coming back to ROH in a huge way at Final Battle.

Let me end with this...

Steve, you wrote that 10 years ago, you were walking into the Hammerstein as the 27 year old ECW World Heavyweight Champion. And 10 years ago, I was sitting at home watching you do it with admiration in my eyes.

This time, however, I'm the one walking into Hammerstein at 27 years old. But I don't have a title to defend...yet. No. After everything I have been through with this company. I'm actually walking in with absolutely nothing to lose anymore.

And you know what they say about a man who's got nothing to lose...

I remember not being that hyped for the match until the WWE promo wizards threw this together for the raw after Elimination chamber, they would need to make one hell of a hype vid for me to care about HHH/Taker 3.

IMO that would be a dumb idea since Undertaker losing the steak to HHH would be the dumbest, most ego stroking, non nonsensical, pointless thing HHH could ever do.
Undertaker should never lose the streak. ever.

and B. HHH should never have a HBK/flair style retirement match.
He is gonna be on WWE TV for the next few decades. He is the next Mr McMahon character.
And being the big boss character on TV means that every once and a while you need to get the crap beating out of you by the younger guys. Granted HHH was never one to let the younger guys over.... so its gonna be fun seeing how that works now that he is getting older and fatter.


Taker has pretty much reached the end of the road now anyway. I hope they can find a way for him to leave without losing the streak. Make it to 20-0 then he is never seen ever again.

I still remember before Wrestlemania this year when HHH buried the entire roster and said Undertaker was the only one who could give him a challenge in a promo.

Very good point. He should have already gone this route, he and Punk could've been doing what Austin/McMahon did for the attitude era.

Instead he chose to preserve his fanbase and stay The Game for no reason.

I said it back then and I'll say it again: HHH will never be Mr. McMahon. HHH is a wrestler, HHH is The Game, HHH is, to the casual fan, a legend WRESTLER. Punk was never going to be Stone Cold to HHH's Vince. The only thing Punk accomplished during the "Personal" feud was making himself look like a whiny brat, not an anti-establishment revolutionary, or whatever he thought was happening.

The feud was Vince vs. Punk, and should've remained Vince vs. Punk until Vince backed out of the picture stating that he wouldn't put up with "another one of these guys." Then Johnny Ace could've picked up the torch.

It should NOT be Triple H or any other established superstar. Taker has given much to this industry but what better way to give back then give a younger guy (another phenom) the biggest push of all. I don't know who this person is but I can't think of anyone on the WWE or FCW roster that deserves it.

Which is why I'd rather him retire with his streak than losing. I don't see the reason why Triple H should beat him if they decide to go that route since he's already a well established superstar. I'm hoping they never go with that scenario.

Not really. I mean, tell that to Hulk Hogan in the 90s.

He could've been Mr. McMahon from the start. When they removed the Vince character the fans were chanting thank you Vince, despite his decade+ of being the most maniacal villain in wrestling.
If they'd just used that opportunity to turn Mr. Hs he could've gotten mega heat and been set up as the new big bad of the WWE, in fact it's a pretty common trope: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MakeWayForTheNewVillains Instead they let the let Johnny Ace take up the role by getting his heat off of a neutered HHH
 
Is the title of the NBA thread a reference to John Cena or just a coincidence? If it's the former, it just goes to show who truly connects with the mainstream, casual audience. Sorry N_W, enjoy it while it lasts.

( maybe in your case, "enjoy" isnt the right word. Hate it slightly less than you normally do, while you still can.)
