Yep. The messaging and people tile on the Lumia 800 render are cut off.

Weird. My phone did the same earlier this week. Phone was fully charged by 7 pm. After light use (10 mins max) the phone was left idle until the next morning. Woke up late as well because my battery died. Not sure why either.

- recording what? Voice like a memo or for music creation?
- will see at CES available July as part of update (yeah I'm calling it)
- care to give an example of a usable app on another platform? Platform agnostic here so would like to have a play.

My wife's phone died that same night, also a windows phone. I thought that was all very odd, so that's why I posted it.
 
I normally like Black electronics but I love the White contrasting with the Black on that Lumnia 900 fuzzy image. I think the Red could look quite nice too.

yeah basically recording mutliple tracks through the mic adn regulate the sound afterwards
c:geo on android is feature packed and even free. I would even pay for a WP version.

Why not?

would be useful for songwriting purposes. the microphones are good enough for simple recording tasks, and a multitrack recorder would be able to capture ideas more complex than a single track which wont be able to capture harmonies or something.

windows mobile had it and i often found myself in a position where I would have loved to be able to record at least 2 tracks which are modifieable independently from each other.

I guess that's where we disagree. Once you get past the noise floor and shit frequency response (they're only relatively linear in the speech range) ... which I suppose is fine for just laying down ideas ... you have to contend with their very limited amplitude response. The problem is most of the mics will clip like mad under high volumes. So basically you'd be hard pressed to record anything but acoustic work.

What I'd like to see is someone release an app that works with miniUSB mics.



That all said, what sort of features would you like in a (very) basic app? I've been looking for an excuse to try some WP7 development. This could be a good first project.

I think the basic features I need would be

- recording tracks through the microphone
- changing the volume of those tracks individually
- being able to cut parts of tracks individually (and move them)
- saving it as mp3 or something

i think the third point might be the hardest to do, but I have no idea about developing (besides some basic pascal c, lol) whatsoever, so maybe I'm mistaken.

I'm going to be pretty busy during the holidays ... but I'll see what I can do in the new year. I'll keep you posted.
 
Is tombstoning what we are gonna be with forever? I have to admit it's getting quite tedious having to open an app again and go through the startup if you don't have a saved state. They really need to fix it as sometimes I have 2-3/5 in the messaging app.

It is pretty silly that native apps show up there. Maybe once there are phones with more RAM out there the limit will be bumped up accordingly.
