Has anyone tried the UMD Passport program yet?

I downloaed the app onto my PSP and tried a couple games (Darius Burst & Macross Triangle Frontier) and I just get this annoying error message. Can't read it, either, since my Japanese isn't that great. Says something about my account, but not sure. (Using my JPN PSN account).

I think Macross may not be supported, but I think Darius Burst is... going to try some US Region games and see what happens.

Tried Persona 3 Portable a few days after the Vita launch and had zero problems with it. It may be that the games you tried aren't supported.

Do you think this might be of overheating due to you playing awhile or is it just bad code?

Bad code if I had to guess, hopefully it'll be fixed up in time for the US release. I don't think it's overheating at all, in fact the original PSP used to get somewhat warm to the touch when playing for extended periods with the charger inserted. I don't notice that at all with the Vita (longest I've played in one session was about 3 hours).

not sure if i'm going mad or not here but i could have sworn that the Neo Geo games could not be downloaded from your download list onto the Vita a few days ago - now they are showing up as downloadable.

Didn't have change to try any of them yet.

Also, PSP2 not playable under emulation -is- a bit of a kick in the balls, but hoping that means they are either sorting it out or -hold me- we'll get a PSO2 on Vita ;)

re: Crowns - i don't recall seeing any text saying what the criteria is. I've had some pretty good rounds that yielded nothing (100% fareway + <-8 scores) :(

I have the following on my list:

Shinobido
Army Corps
wipEout
Uncharted

What am I missing? Mingol? What else for launch? Maybe RR if they fix it.

John tv, i was hoping you'd know what you need for a crown on mingol..
As far as I can tell it's different each challenge, but I might be wrong. It didn't tell me the requirements for the ones I got until AFTER I got them. Which is a little weird.

The two I got were for A) beating Tank on challenge 2-VS in the first three holes, and B) scoring a -3 on challenge 4-1.

I'd add Little Deviants if you want to have some fun with Vita features.

Tennis is the best game on the Vita for me, but i'm a pretty big VT fan and i didn't get around to playing VT4 on the consoles.

Mingol is a must as well :)

Ridge - i'd wait and see on that one - and see what the price is :/

beating Tank on challenge 2-VS in the first three holes,

i swear i beat Tank in 3 and didn't get a crown.... maybe i did and i missed it loll

We need to start getting some multiplayer all up in nyaar :) OFFICIAL GOLF THREAD !

m0dus, it looks like you have all the app safe spots figured out - could you make a .psd with "holes" in the layers for the icons? This way, everyone could easily make their own wallpapers by using that layer masks or whatever that option is called and covering the holes they don't need for their own icon sets.

A real crazy dude playing BlazBlue. (1080p video.)

That screen is RIDICULOUS. I can only imagine the great stuff we're going to see in Vita's future. I think once this thing's in store and people actually see it in action with games like these, they'll be convinced. They gotta be, right?!

Excuse my obsessive nature, but:

- The guy started playing the game at 22:56, the battery was at (roughly) 100%.

- The session included Story mode, Gallery Mode, and some online play. WiFi, 3G, and Bluetooth seem to be switched on, while the brightness seems to be set to a high(er) level.

- The game was suspended at 23:54, with the battery being around 80% charge.

Assuming he didn't take breaks between edits and was playing the majority of that period, I'm quite impressed. People have already said it's beating their modest expectations, but it's still nice to see it in action.

Possible. I followed the news stories that had links to the list of supported games, and it showed Darius Burst and Macross TF, but neither seems to work when I tried it.

Possible you can do a quick n dirty step by step on the process? I'd appreciate it.

That is not how consumers who don't spend hours every week on gaming message boards actually think.

Well, people who do spend hours and hours on boards like these don't think so either, lol. Because the Vita is already doomed and stupid and overpriced before people have even laid a finger on it. ;o

And omg Emma Watson's even prettier than Vita's OLED.

i'm just going to come out and say it

the battery life is REALLY good.

5 hours. Longer than a stock PSP and 3DS.

There's a reason this has stopped coming up as troll bait.

See Phantasy Star Portable 2 is one of the games I actually want to play on the Vita so it not working is not making me happy. I wonder if the PSP emulation code is just not up to snuff yet and they'll eventually have it all sorted out or if there's some other issue. I realize it's very early in the Vita's life cycle but the PSP backwards compatibility is a big thing for me because I have a decent sized digital collection that I will want to play on the Vita. This is one of the key areas of the Vita that I need Sony to get right.

it's really weird - i've a fair few PSP games on the Vita and they all run fine, i guess it's something specific to PSP2 that's causing a hickup of some sort. Or of course it could be one of those horrible things were people ask to not have their games BC? :/

I'm double dipping for a download version

i double dipped on mingol and Ridge (those two then went to the wife for her Vita collection) - i'm definitely going to favour downloads for anything that will be played MP or often. Considering Tennis as well.

Well, said boards obviously aren't unanimous, but they're pretty much the only places where I hear the argument that specs will be a major factor in Joe Average's decision whether or not to buy Upcoming Platform X, despite the near-total lack of historical evidence for it. :P

I think the infrastructure option might be the reason. Maybe they don't know how to emulate it? Also I think it connects to a "normal" PSN to check if you have the online license.
Are the trophies the same thing as PS3/PSN games? Bronze, silver, gold and platinum?
Yeah.

I'm not really talking specs, but seeing the actual thing in action. If the screen is really as awesome as people say, it could convince some average people because they just like what they see. They don't care what it does, it just looks gorgeous lol.

Huh.. Shinobido 2 is not on Gamebryo? I guess it's on Shinobido PS2 engine then instead of Gamebryo like way of the Samurai 3..well unless they just didn't put the logo of Gamebryo or something. (it does look like it use/ported many of Way of the Samurai assets) :/

Digital game manuals on the cart?? very nice.( is this for all the games?)

So two things I am curious about:

- Any more Shinobido impressions? It seems most people have not picked this game up so I rarely hear anything about this. DCharlie, have you played it?

- I'm lazy for not sifting through information, but what is up with some of the problems like touch screen, 3G/Wifi disconnecting, OLED screen getting weird black smudges? That's got me a little paranoid.

A 10 minute video from the same crazy, yet endearing, guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jAR_6W3ExA

The game seems to have a nice IQ, and the animations looks less janky than the previous Shinobidos I tried, but still has its own share of the signature rough edges, low poly models and low res textures.

So far everything about this game is pointing towards it being a solid title. But I'd like to hear what the resident Acquire fans think when it's released stateside.

(Random observation: The Start/Continue windows in games' Live Areas don't have to be in the center, as seen in Shinobido's)

just the first two levels - seems playable enough. Again, need to go back - throw in a MH3rdP push -and- starting MHTriG i'm juggling over xmas ;)

I need to know more than "playable"! Does anyone like Tenchu, or has anyone played Shinobido and played the recent Tenchu on PSP or wii? :)

I will decide on buying Vita or not tomorrow based on Gravity Daze demo impressions,If Toyama is as good as always, then Vita will get ordered from Amazon, It can be my 3rd *already dead* system
after Neogeo pocket Color and Dreamcast

So yeah I hope there is more real hand on impressions, unlike Shinobido 2 or the other launch games when gaffers with Vita (both of them) are trying to not talk about them for some reasons.

Okay, I can never really tell with Gaf, is the consensus that the vita is DOA? Or is it gaf just being sarcastic?

anyone who thinks the Vita is DOA based on 320k sales in two days is a complete and utter mongbert.

that is all.

spread thin with Xmas and number of games. I'm now actually playing through in what order -i- want to do it and right now i'm playing Mingol. Will update on whatever else when i get the time.

For anyone looking to import, I'd recommend getting the Hong Kong value pack.

Managed to sang

-Vita Wifi
-Accessory Pack (Protective Flim, Case, 4GB Memory Stick)
-Uncharted & UMVC3

all for 620 SGD (~487 USD). Much cheaper than if you were to import the JPN set from Playasia i think.
