Lol, why would I care? Korean comic scene died with the censorship laws like a decade ago. It doesn't help that people seem intent on bringing the trashiest shit over, stuff like anything Im Dal Young, etc.

There was a Korean comic scene? lol

I still remember when I told you to read The Breaker.

I regret nothing.

I still sometimes wake up in the middle of the night trying to figure out why you recommended that trash. It's a true mystery.

So fucking bro, it hurts. The famous interpanel brofist, now in English.

No shit, as would exist for any country where men strive to draw naked cartoon people. I don't really like to get into it because

a: no one cares

b: everyone here is a weeaboo

c: it really is pretty bad

but assuming that an entire nation's output is shit based on a few samples is worrisome at the very least.

In that there is no sensible explanation for how arbitrary wand movements and words in faux-latin can have a 1-1 correlation with spells.

Hermione was so overpowered.

So like, the entire manga?

I think that had more to do with the fact that wasn't interesting at all, particularly not in the early younger-skewing books.

I just consider it the series with the worst filler of all time. 99.7% filler about some stupid pair getting an anime for marriage or something.

Bakuman is all filler now. Every chapter I read is something just made for money as the story should have ended with PCP getting an anime

No shit, as would exist for any country where men strive to draw naked cartoon people.

I just never thought that drawing shitty sc2 comics is considered a scene

If ever we get to vote the most iconic representative of Manga threads, I wonder who is amongst you guys that will be the one most suitable.
Anyone who reads only two out of the big three, shows up on Wednesdays, and just trolls for a few posts.

I like the punching.

Is this series better as a manga? Because the anime was shit.

herp derp, whatever

Yumekui Merry

Manly moe, epitome of.

Anime was good until the director stopped giving a fuck, the budget ran out, and they slapped on a really terrible ending.

Manga is fun. Not great.

Whatever her reasons are, it doesn't change the fact that the magic in Harry Potter lacks any clear restrictions or barriers.

It makes about as much sense as hand seals for jutsus in Naruto. Both exist solely for the cool factor, rather than as some kind of internally consistent system.

(Yes, I'm aware nearly all magical systems are like this, but some are better than others. And it's less of a problem in stories where POWER LEVELS aren't relevant to the plot. I think Rothfuss had a good thing going with sympathy, except he also added the stupid naming deux ex machina bullshit.)

I vote for Big One because he knows the opinion of most people

Out of all the shit I read that has magic the Mistborn novels were the most consistent and best explained. Then all of it went to hell with power levels and yelling makes you stronger

Speaking of Korean comics, anyone here check out any of the comics on Webtoon Live? Not really much in the way of story, but damn if the art ain't real purdy.

I wonder if we will get a "villain" like character at one point in the series for us to hate on
Well, it seems like Arakawa is sorta setting up Hachiken's father to be this person, but the explanation for why he and his brother have such developed taste buds make me think he'll probably be a sympathetic "villain".

I've been coming across quite a few from there lately. They're pretty. I'm vain. They get added to my queue. Whether or not, I'll actually ever get my read on is another story, but they are there for me, waiting.

Oh right I forgot about the father confrontation. Back in my mind it always seemed that Hachiken was just acting like a brat teen so I forgot about the potential father villain.

For somereason I feel like reading a manga..But all I remember is that a guy has to maryy a wolf/fox god(?) because he fixed the shrine

Anyone know this manga?

Maoyuu Maou Yuusha

Female Knight is so badass. I always suspected that she knew about the whole Demon Queen affair.

I seriously hope that Hero hit that after the dance cause otherwise I will lose all respect for him. Also I had no idea salt can make ice bridges

Gan-Kon comes to mind, but it's not due to fixing the shrine. Or a fox girl. So I'm not actually sure why it comes to mind outside of it being mentioned recently. Kitsune no Yomeiri fits the bill fairly well though.

Also, wut argument again?! And I think that interpanel brofist (+ fang) just sold me on Yumekui Merry.

seems i missed some good stuff again and its hilarious seeing Beam get so salty about Bleach and try to shit on OP to make it even :P

As for the Naruto thing Sai was a waste of a character especially after Naruto's TnJ and Danzou's demise, once his brother returned there wasn't much attachment to give a shit (plus most of the other possible mindfucks were botched by Kishi anyway).

As for the Harry potter stuff i will agree with Grimace since Voldemort was great magician and wasn't even a pure blood and Hermonie was a straight muggle (iirc) and she knew her stuff.

peeps are born with natural skill in harry potter, shit is unfair from the start. Squibs, Nevilles, and girls.

i dont know... neville did his best simon from gurren lagann and bro'd the fuck up by the end of the 5th book. he as the hero the series deserved.

The tears

They are so sweet

What tears? I really consider these arcs to be shit.

What are you talking about? Try to make shit up? Really? So i should agree with the majority of people, instead of forming my own opinion, and have critical thinking? Not everyone can be like you agreeing with this and that instead of forming your own reasoning.

That's because you've gone on record on straight up refusing to read any of my posts. There is no doubt that you're misreading everything I say, and if not, you're interpreting it differently than intended. If I say "Most people accept Robin is the most developed character in One Piece" I would ASSUME that people would realize I'm not talking about the masses. There is absolutely no reason to be using that point otherwise.

Most one piece fans that i encountered like Luffy,Zorro, Sanji as their favorite characters.
As often as he is wrong, I have to say, Robin and Usopp are indeed the best characters (development, believability, personality, arcs) in One Piece.

I would say you are wrong too. The only one who i have seen significantly develop is Usoppe. He actually achieved what he wanted, by radically changing his personality. And now since he achieved his goal, he wants everyone else to achieve theirs.

With regards to Naruto part 2. I actually found 60% to be enjoyable. I liked the Gaara rescue arc, Asuma arc, most Sasuke´s fights especially against Diedara and Raikage, i don´t even like Sasuke, Jirayra´s death and the subsequent development that Naruto got. It especially amazing part where Shikamaru and Iruka try to console Naruto.

I absolutely hated the whole Itachi thing.

Silver Spoon

Also wanted to mention that I love the humor in this comic. Really, it's pretty simple stuff, but I laugh at least once every time I read a chapter. I've noticed that I usually come away with a big 'ole smile on my face once I'm done with a chapter.

lol most farm animals live in absolutely filthy conditions. you are eating a filthy animal if you are getting your meat at most super markets.
Anyone who's been to some kind of anime convention knows that the filthiest animals are actually nerds.

Its just you seems to always seem to make biting remarks about it while your defending the thing you like (almost as a method to getting back/evening the score)

And good job trying to pigeonhole me into a segment (although i agree with those you listed due to certain things oda did).

I haven't visited this thread in a while and now that I have I encountered Beam and Big One arguing about BlAh and One Piece for the millionth time, its like I never left.

Huh...seems like Viz has stepped up their North American manga attempts:

1. The Viz site and app are now unified, it seems. Stuff like the new magazine and digital volumes (at least, seemingly) appear to work interchangeably. Still means you're locked to the Viz App and Viz being in business, I guess, although its unclear if you need web access at all to load the app or read downloaded volumes.
2. A ton more content. Entire runs of Kenshin, up to the latest on House of Five Leaves, etc. It's viable and up to the latest on the popular stuff. I'd say the only weak point is the back catalogue (not quite 100 series up yet) but for stuff they can legally still print...I'm not sure there are any gaps? I mean, all of Saturn Apartments is there, and so is basically all the Natsume Ono stuff. Shojo is lacking but they seem to be aggressive with store updates.
3. They are selling some manga a week ahead of time digitally.
4. Prices are coming down. A lot. They claim there is an Xmas sale but have no denotation so it's hard to tell how accurate these prices are, but:
- 3.99 for regular volumes (print is 9.99+)
- 4.99 for Viz Signature (REAL, House of Five Leaves, etc.) (print is 12.99+)
- 7.99 for those 3 volume compilations or single volume works like Solanin.
5. Friendly but deceptive sales via the app. To this I mean one thing specifically: The first chapter of every series they have is free. Download it, no complications or orders or whatever. The deceptive part is that it's a separate store item that looks like the first volume, so it would be easy to assume you're getting the first volume free, not the first chapter. Odd.
6. The reader seems a bit more responsive. It's still not without some jerkiness but it's acceptable. Basically nothing in terms of options compared to the big iOS manga/comic apps though.
7. Shonen Jump print is ending in April. Instead they are going full digital with SJ Alpha. 99c/week or $26/year.
- The series are: OP, Naruto, Bleach, Toriko, Bakuman, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan (?)
- They claim all chapters are two weeks after their Japanese debut
- Unlike the volume purchases, it's 4 weeks access time after purchase for single issues, or 1 year after-the-fact access for subscribers. :/ I guess this is how they want to push people to tankobons later.

If the pricing turns out to be a blunt holiday 20%, then that would mean $5 per volume for the regular stuff. Not nearly as exciting but still 50% off retail. I dare say it's almost a viable replacement for their print stuff, and we may be heading that way anyway; I can totally see them move low performing print series to digital-only as time goes on.

With Alpha, I'm more concerned. I can see why 5 of those series are there, but the one thing you don't get out of a small set like that is a rotation. If you don't like those series, too bad, because that's all that will be there unless one of them gets cancelled in Japan. And the term expiry means you won't be recapping series.

they arent. no more filthy than cows or sheep. anyone whose raised market animals can tell you that.

....unless you were making a jules reference, then kudos good sir.
Yeah, I wanted to work in the "one charming motherfucking pig" line but couldn't find a way to do so.

Ironically, I actually don't eat pork, but that's because of kosher rules, unlike Mr. Winnfield

I guess I'm in the minority of people that find Usopp annoying as hell. Oh well. I can't deny that Oda has put effort into developing his character though.

So!

It maybe that i'm just crazy, but i've decided to re-read the monster trio starting with One Piece, then Bleach then Naruto.

I'm 20 chapters into OP, and I gotta say it was just as gripping back then as it was now. "MAH TREASURE" is an awesome recurring theme.

WHAT

Rurouni Kenshin Manga Series to Return in Japan in May

Manga creator Nobuhiro Watsuki will be resuming his Rurouni Kenshin series for a brief run starting in the June issue of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine, which will ship on May 2, 2012. The magazine's advertising describes the samurai manga's return as a "reboot," although the magazine may not be using the term with the English denotation in mind. More details will be in upcoming issues of Jump Square.

In the meantime, Watsuki is putting his current manga series, Embalming - The Another Tale of Frankenstein, on hiatus as of the March issue of Jump Square magazine, which will ship in February. Embalming will return in the fall. This manga has been running in Jump Square since its inaugural issue in 2007.

I guess those six is a decent start to the service. Three of which are necessary while the other three are questionable but good. Its a shame they dont have any type of speed up for Bakuman, Toriko, and Nura(?), while the other three have been given one. I was hoping for a Bakuman one so that I could finally go way past the manga, but based on the release schedule it isnt getting one until after Bleach finishes its speed up...in the late fall.

I do hope they get the alpha to make it out same week as JPN and get more new series in it (disappointed at the loss of Psyren and Yugioh 5D's...)
