Fall 2011 Anime Thread |OT2| The Tampire is Coming

Princess Tutu 1-9

Just felt like starting this one up. And so far, it's kinda eh. Like, I really love Revolutionary Girl Utena, and this series seems to be very similar to it, but it just isn't resonating with me like Utena.

Also, I really enjoyed Kore Wa Zombie no Desu Ka, so I'm looking forward to that during the summer. (I don't like watching series during their syndication since I like to just sit down and watch most if not all of a series in a day.

On a different note, I finished Shiki a few weeks ago, and really enjoyed it. Then I watched the two specials and... I can't even describe how amazing they were. ^_^

Finished Dantalian No Shoka. I liked it. Sure, a lot of the stuff is left unexplained, no real closure is given, but I liked the characters, the mood and most of the individual stories a lot. The animation was great throughout, and the music definitely had it's moments.
It reminds me of Argentinian newspaper comics (that later get collected in trade paperbacks) by Carlos Trillo and Enrique Breccia like Alvar Mayor and El Peregrino de las estrellas. They too consist of short stories (albeit a bit better than in DnS), and don't have an ending, but they're quite enjoyable, and I find myself returning to them from time to time. I might just to the same (just not so often) with Dantalian no Shoka. 8/10

I honestly have no idea what any of those things mean. For instance, is Cajunator just in to cute things or are people implying he's a straight-up pedophile?

It's almost always a little girl that I see in the image when someone follows up with ":cajun", I figured it's a moe thing but the fact that I never saw it applied to anything but little girls eventually made me wonder. Perhaps I just don't visit this thread enough.

The latter. :cajun is for anything cute, not just little girls.

And yes, cajunator is a cool dude.

Yeah! I think Cajunator is a pretty cool guy. Eh hnnnnnngs at moe and doesn't afraid of anything!

:cajun is a transition reaction, more than d'awww, but not quite hnnnng. It's nonsexual in all denotations though, so don't be misunderstanding the Cajun. He's probably the most innocent among us.

It's just cute stuff as his tag implies, once in a million you can come across something that's :cajun and male.... i think.

Lets test this theory out.

Cajun's a cool guy. Wtf. :(

To be fair, this is simply how the general masses will see it. I know that thought crossed my mind when I first started visiting this thread. When a person posts "Hnnngg" or ":cajun" following a picture of a young girl they'll have to accept that others who are ignorant to there meaning will view it in a way that isn't intended.

Edit:

That pointing hand looks painful.

That is cute as fuck.
My favorite anime waifu is Aoi Sakuraba. Shes not what you would call a loli by any means.
Its true that i hnnngh to young characters but i also hnnngh to certain cars, animals, mascots, and bugs. So i am therefore an autophile, faunaphile, and insectophile. A car loving furry bugfucker if you will.

It's not that we go out of our way to Hnng'n at little girls and stuff, it's that 99.99% of Hnng material is either little girls or little girl-like moe crap. Like that gun moe show is probably going to prove.

Just imagine someone jumping into this thread at the same time a new Usagi Drop episode hit, boy that'd be awkward for them.

i also hnngh at cute music. Generally anything syrupy sweet, adorable, or doe eyed. I think the problem is that people associate any kind of attraction to something to literally mean "i wish to fuck that object" and i feel sorry for furries especially for having to endure such ignorant judgements.
The other problem is that i am 29 and it is seen as taboo to have any sort of attraction to cute things when you are older. Once again because people want to sexualize everything. But moe is more of a reaction to something that fills your heart with happiness. Im a man child. I cant really change who i am very easily. I love cute things. It is part of me. It makes life fun. It makes it interesting.

I hear you there. I hate how society seems to think you can't have any kind of deep, meaningful relationship with another person without it being sexual in nature.

Well... I kinda read what was out there of the manga already, and every time I HNNNNNNG'd it was because they made a reference to their individual properties as firearms or some other reference only a gun nerd would get. So technically, all I really was doing was going all :cajun over firearms. Which I sometimes kind of already do anyway. >___>
Oh, SIG 553-chan, I know you're not technically the best Engie gun in BF3, but I luv you anyway with your just-right handling~

Oh god, who is not in love with Belldandy?

I <3 Belldandy with a passion. It's too bad she probably wouldn't return the affection. :p

Question for AnimeGAF. I had heard the VIZ Media DVD release of Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva was sub only, but the recent AnimeNewsNetwork review said the English dub is present (albeit the UK dub). Can anyone confirm if this is true?

The amazon reviews say it, in the US, has the same english dub vas as the game.

Please, no bad words for Upotte!! Read the manga, great stuff, pretty much the new Squid Girl!

I don't know about Squid Girl, but Upotte!! sure as hell appeals to my inner gun nut. It combines the part of me that loves some :cajun and the part of me that's all "FUCK YEAH, GUNS :HulkHogan". Perhaps it needs a new emoticon? :doomed perhaps~? :3
I kid, I kid, you can ignore that. :p

I didn't go into the Best Anime of 2011 thread to judge, but I couldn't help finding this post both amusing and sad.
Fail of the year goes to Steins;Gate and MPD, because both show how much trouble 'Anime' has to bring shows to a satisfying and meaningful conclusion when they are trying to tell somehow ambitious stories and I really wish it wasn't like that. Madoka was kinda the same, but it only nosedived during the last episode, so that's still alright. But I really wish stuff like Idolmaster or Denpa Onna would not have made my list in favour of something with more substance.

GOOD, IT'S MY HOBBY, I DON'T NEED NO STINK'N CASUALS SMELLING UP THE PLACE WITH THEIR NARUTARDEDNESS.
:p

I watch My Little Pony. There's honestly not much of a difference between that and K-ON!.
No, there's a very strong structural difference between the two, particularly in the worlds of the two. K-ON is much more limited in that respect, while MLP has a much more expansive existence. That scenario you mentioned? That would happen on MLP. Not K-ON, and you know that, you're just trying to enrage my inner pony-hater. Ha! Nope, not today. >:D

In terms of message and appeal they are indeed similar. Both are about a bunch of cute girls doing cute stuff while doing stuff like hanging around, and indeed most of the bronies are not watching it because they are masterful epics about saving Equestria from whatever the monster of the week is. MLP is more farcical thanks to its roots as a Western animu, but at the core it is a showcase of exaggerated character traits and how they interact with other hypercharged personalities.

Fluttershy > Mio btw

I wouldn't say impenetrable. I came in once long ago (last spring) to ask for some anime related info and just decided to stick around.

Now I have become ONE OF THEM!
AnimeGAF Nakama

I'll admit that's fun being part of a (semi)tight-nit group here, but I don't want to exclude people and I think most here wouldn't want that either. Inside jokes are bound to happen (See last page) but if you stick around long enough you will start to "get" them too.

We all love anime, most of us get along, and we love joking about it.

Now excuse me, I have to wash the taste of this thread out of my mouth.

We need to start working on more :_____ definitions!
